It would be interesting I am sure if they wrote the clues along the way but I don't think they change it once it starts.
What ever happened to the later clues having 2 stanza's rather than just 1 thereby avoiding writing a chapter on the last clue. Sure hope they add 2 stanza's next clue.
KT - I'm right behind ya. 4:30 comes mighty early. I know the reality of it is that I won't see the park before tomorrow evening at the soonest. Getting the clue a few hours earlier will not help me.
Goodnight and SCD's to all! Hoping for something enlightening in the next one!
I think the clues are written ahead of time, when they hide the medallion, because in years when the hunt has only lasted a few clues, they've published all 12 with the interpretations on the day the find is reported.
Being a 12th clue dash two years in a row, and looking like we are heading for a 3rd, I'm not a fan at all, takes all the fun out of the hunt and it turns into a mad scramble that anyone can figure out and find without having paid attention for the previous 11 days.
Be ready for the Mac-Grove Recreation center switcharoo ... Not to throw anyone off here, but something tells me we are in for rude awakening. It just bothers me a bit to disclose the park so early in the clues...I still like Crosby quite abit. Please dont hate me for this -lol
I think there was a new clue writer after the 6 clue Merriam disaster and it's clear by their choices of parks (Como, Phalen and Crosby?) that they are not going to take any chances of it being found early, so they throw it in the biggest parks and are vague until we get to double digits.
Personally, I would rather have clues that fit multiple smaller parks that all seem to fit, than knowing which park by Clue 4 but digging aimlessly until clue 12

I really tried to keep an open mind this year (I was sure it was at Como and they were screwing with us again), but everything just keeps saying, Crosby, Crosby, Crosby....
Hubby is out at Crosby right now walking down the path! He decided to take a detour on his way home from skiing tonight. Ha! He has no flashlight, but he did see the "giant". He says not many people out there right now. I told him people are probably at home and in line at PP waiting for the clue.
I was figuring he should not walk beyond the "crossroads" where the "once blue pond" is. Right?
I thought it was great! Very cinamatic. Beutifull. I just stood on a log down in the middle of it soaking it in. I didn't bother digging untill people started going home. Stayed out untill 4am and met some lady and went to Perkins at 5am. We didn't want to give up but the whole thing was just pushing all the snow down into the bowl. It had all been gone through completly..
I have to gather some troops and get ready to drive down tonight....
I'll be filming so I might find a billion cars and a mad mob visualy interesting.
I think the mad dash on Clue #12 kind of sucks, too, but it's also kind of beautiful. C'Mon, wasn't it totally amazing to see all those lights in the valley of death last year? It was like the scene from Frankenstein with the pitchforks and torches, or maybe a little bit like Close Encounters of the Third Kind, only you were really THERE, in the middle of it. It was a total rush. And let's face it -- only one of us was going to find the medallion anyway, whether we'd been there since clue #1 or not. And in last year's case, NO one found it. (Damn squirrel or raccoon or skunk or crow or whatever got the donut...)
I dont think there will be too many casual hunters if it does go to 12
I'm not a betting man but, how much you want to bet?
:-)
That place will be a mad house, and I'm sure many of the die hard hunters that were out there the past two years will just say: "Screw it, no sense in putting myself in danger, I'm going home".

I'm sure there will be some but not as many. It would be very different from the last 2 years when you could walk to the spot from the road in 2 minutes. Depending on where it is, it could very well take 30-45 minutes to get to the spot. It doesnt make it as easy and accesible as the last 2 years
Well, when it went to 12 clues at Como, the people found it right away. The woods were big, but nowhere near as big as at Crosby. It seems like often times it is found the morning after a big digging night. Like at Como in 97, at Conway, and at Phalen last year. Those "morning after" people get lucky sometimes!
thanks rina

lol I plan on it.. ok.. as requested.. here are the 2 pix of the park when it was still the farm.. enjoy :)

and the house...

More than likely they are written in advance but I don't think there is any reason why they couldn't be edited.
Remember at this exact time of the hunt when we all thought it was Harriet Island? It was the night of the big Como bomb...Clue 10.
LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA -- I CAN'T HEAR YOU TERRY!
That night was my first ever at the PP. I remember being so mad that I went straight home.
What Yarro Pilz said.
I, too, believe they are written in advance, but until published, they can be altered or rearranged depending on weather and other circumstances.
no those are bad thoughts!!!! Wouldnt it be funny though....hehe...

The shot heard round the cooler.
I think that was Clue 11 Terry, but you're right, that hunt alone will lead me to never believe in a park 100% until clue 12
That shouldn'thappen this year because the clues this year haven't been as vague.
Ok Como is a baaaad word in my vocabulary..... :D
Vagueness aside, the question is will the clue writer deliberately decieve us.
IMHO: I think most die hards think it sucks having the mad dash on the 12th clue.

Sorry - it was clue 11.Â
I was figuring this would be the last night they'd take the opportunity to send us elsewhere.

THX - I agree.Â
I can't imagine what clue 12 will look like for Crosby.
Â
I wish they would get out of hiding it in the darn woods... it gets old after a while.. ya know?

There's always an opportunity to send us elsewhere, until that last clue comes out.
IF it is at Crosby, I'm thinking clues 10 and 11 might be working on a bit of triangulation with the "remains of the tree".
I dont think there will be too many casual hunters if it does go to 12

lol no no no yarro.. it's been dubbed The Valley Of Crotch :D My HUGE woody is still down there somewhere... I gotta go find it!
remember como; we all thought at harriet until that last clue
I would love to get out to one of the parks that has alot of hunters and get into the excitement of it all. Would be wonderful to have a car...

There was a time when you might have found me at the park on clue 12 in the middle of the mess...but no more.Â
I think it would be better to wait until the morning after.
Then you'll probably miss your chance.
Only reason it wasn't found that night last year is because the damn raccoon moved it. :-)
And because Clue Master didn't check the photo he took. Remember the glint in the snow? I'd bet money that was it.

I'll bring Krispy Kremes to Crosby in the morning for posting that idea..The question is , how many will I need?
If anyone sees KT, please tell her I need to talk to her. Thank you
She went to bed a little while ago.
Hey KT, medallionis venator needs to talk to you.
lol she's sleeperz... which is where I SHOULD be... but I'm not.. muhahaha :D
only a few more minutes...

I'd like to know wut the heck the clue writers were thinkin when they hid the puck in an EDIBLE doughnut! It's like HELLO MCFLY!
