Actually, *two* things are driving me crazy... first, I can't go out digging tonight (gotta get up way early tomorrow) and second, part of today's clue is really flummoxing me... "Many sides no flowers to see." So, what then? Sure, there are no flowers to see now, it's winter! But I think this part of the clue's really saying more than that.

Firstly, many "sides" are mentioned, and, thinking about it, if you wanna be really specific about it, each trail has only *two* sides. So what else at Crosby has many "sides" that could have flowers in it, nearby it, or associated with it? When I think of something with many sides, I think shapes... like octagons, polygons, squares. Or facets, like on a diamond. Or cells in a honeycomb.

Secondly, this clue mentions "On ROUTE to trails where puck fever prevails..." THEN it mentions the "many sides". At first I thought they were referring to the trails themselves, but if I read a bit more critically, it seems to be saying that on the way to the trails, there is something with many sides, where there are no flowers to see, but that may normally have flowers associated with it/them. Keeping in mind that it's winter, perhaps this many-sided something would normally have flowers associated with it if it were growing season. Perhaps not many sides, just many of the things with sides??

Lastly, "round the bend the seeker should wend"... I think this is just saying that we should take a trail to find the remains of a tree, which could be a stump, a branch (more likely, thinking about clue #5) or even something that was once made of wood, and that is our next landmark on the way to the medallion. I'm sure there will be more specific instructions on where the puck is come 11:30 tonight. Too bad I can't stay up that late. Ack!!

Good luck hunters...

madre is wise beyond her years.

deadmoney- This is largely a useless annual effort made, perhaps a little more long winded than usual due to the endgame I can offer.

Unfortunately there cannot be any real reponse because while people can clearly say there is a decrease in activity, one cannot ask those who have left this place for good their opinion. And, instead of getting into a game of whatifs, I choose to let it die and let those who have grown complacent merrily label me as "asshole" and move along.. until next year?

Dennis' older cousin on his Mother's side is comforting me right now.
Dennis is on his boat down at watergate, says the traffic is too bad.
I'm just going down there with some dill now.

I just don't think most people here know about it, which I guess is the point.

Yeah, sort of.

It keeps people with only two posts out.

My after work tomorrow will probably allow me enough time to get home, have some dinner, and then slog before the next clue.  Wednesday won't be much better.

He's not a rotton apple, just a little moody, just like the rest of us. I see his points, but I also see the converse side (as usual... I'm a fence-walking Lutheran by birth :P).

Can we move on past the drama and continue to aim for treasure???? :o)

I too just found out about the invitational and thankfully got an invite! I've been around the Cooler since 1997. I haven't been able to hunt much in the last couple of years, but I do love the noodling.

I think it's great what you guys are doing for, or should I say to, Zephy! I'm sure it brings him much-needed comic relief and helps him to feel like he's a part of the hunt! We pray for our troops every day and we love them to pieces!

Happy hunting!

I must have added nearly a dozen people to this thread.

There were several that really deserved access here but didn't get it until now. For that I apologize. This is more art than science.

I'm sure I missed some people, and if you're aware of anyone missing, PLEASE let me know.

Alright *rolls up her sleeves* after slogging thru all the stuffs... now I'm putting MY 2 cents in... Matt.... I've had the opportunity to briefly meet with you and you seem really cool.  For what it's worth, I enjoy your mom.. sounds really cheezie, but I really do. I met your dad.. he's awesome too. I told your mom that she and your dad are what I'd like to see myself and my husband in 20 even 30 years.

With that out of the way... I can see how you feel about the whole "invite" forum, and all fo that other stuff that was discussed. However, you're a smart dude, in order to be completely fair you need to step outside of yourself and see things from the other side of the tracks. I'm not here to judge you, and I'm hoping that you'll not judge me in what I'm about to say about everything that I have just spent almost 45 minutes slogging thru.

Payme summed it up when she said we're a family. We are, 24hrs a day 365 days a year. We comfort each other, make fun of each other, hell we even fight with each other!! It's not about who's more popular, who posts more, who posts less, what ever. It's about a group of people all contributing ideas, noodles, stories, jokes, ect. There are a select group of people who come here just to start trouble, and they know who they are w/o naming any names. There are a lot of people who come here and don't take anything seriously. Again, those people know who they are. There's a lot of people who DO take things seriously.. but sometimes just get wacky. Is there a "right" way to adress and take care of the problems. We're all adults here, and about 97% of the people who post here act like adults. There's just a small percentage who act like children. Again, I stress.. THEY KNOW WHO THEY ARE!!

I can see what and where you're getting at, but you have to understand dude.. this is something we've been doing for a long time, you can't just come up in here, and think you can change the way things are run. It just doesn't happen like that. Everyone is very happy with the way things are ran here. I know that I am. Ya just gotta give it a chance, you can't come in here once, twice, three times even, and judge the forums or the group based on how some people act. That's not fair to the rest of us. We're a great bunch of people, and I know you know that. Drop the big words, the crazy speeches, and just live a little. Does everything have to be so proper, so smart? Do you see what I'm saying? JUST HAVE FUN!! That's what we're here to do.

And now.. after all of that... I'm done.. exhausted, I'm takin a bubble bath and takin a nap!!!

LL - I heard from Timmers not long ago and they where planning on being at Crosby around 9:30 or 10pm. I'm heading out pretty soon myself, so you will not be alone.

Also, welcome to all who just arrived. It's good to have you.

Maybe I'll head down there then, as long as I'm not alone :)

Just back from the park with my son.  I'm content to wait it out til the next clue before heading back out.  That's one big park.  Got some good ideas about where the remains of the tree might be.

Happy hunting to all who plan to venture out!

You know...I think my map of Crosby isn't that bad.  I show the woods next to the woods next to the woods next to the woods.........

You really captured the woods by that one section of woods by that other part of the woods quite well.

Accurate is a very good term for the woods next to the woods which are next to the other woods.

Just beyond that is more woods, just east of the woody area.
