There aren't any rules against it. I guess whoever is having issues need to either go to her themselves or leave it alone. There's nothing for us to do about it.

I don't know if advising someone to turn off avatars is an acceptable answer to that question. What if porn was posted as it almost was with me2's avatar? Granted both hers and MM's could be offensive or on the fence, but what do we do when it's blatantly offensive?

When it's blatantly offensive - pornographic or what have you, we ask them to change it.

full on porn is outlawed by the code of conduct (and possibly federally illegal, as this site is in california).

things that are merely distasteful aren't addressed.

I think we need to shut all avatars down on all the threads....

If the two of you are going to have a discussion, it would be better to take it somewhere else - here for example - rather than having it out on the public boards.

That discussion only leads to more people feeling like this isn't the friendly sort of place we always wanted it to be.

I can see you both have points to make, but arguing doesn't solve anything. We need to moderate ourselves and work at making this a place where people will want to put down their $10 and stay awhile.

I have a great deal of respect for both of you - but for crying out loud - let's get along!

oh gladly, terry. but this whole thing would have never started in the first place if there hadn't been rejoicing among certain people at the people who have chosen to leave.

and the reality is, this is a public matter. the quality of these fora is going straight down the toilet, largely because people are getting away with bad behavior without being called on it.

on a more serious note, one of the points i was trying to make last night, and one directly related to making this place a happier one, was that we haven't addressed at all the issue of instigation. flame/insults are supposed to be ignored, but the flamer/insulter ought to be dealt with in the first place. if someone wants to rejoice that someone they don't like is deciding not to pony up the 10 bucks to post here, fine. but that rejoicing has no place in these here fora; it does nothing to create an atmosphere conducive to welcoming.

And the point that I was addressing was that we as moderators should be dealing with things on the higher road.

Responding to Tim with comments like pot calling the kettle black don't really show an example of what we in turn are asking them to follow. My posts about flaming and in turn responding to those flames were for everyone going back and forth in that thread last night.

I didn't like him speaking out against RB. However, we all know the basic history between those two so it should be expected.

To his comment on Lilman I admit I personaly was offended by Lilmans comments outside the cooler. Not becasue the were directed st me but the cooler as a whole and in public. He made it sound as though the entire crew had wronged him in some way by not being where he left it. So I can see why someone would have an issue with it. I can also see why he would make comments about it.

in the online community, that's not flaming, its trolling, and its something he freely admitted to doing.

I've been bitten quite often and haven't bitten back because I was wearing the mod hat at the time. All of us in here are out there on a platter for others to find any kind thing wrong with us because they have the misunderstood feeling that it's us vs them.

I've seen the bait for me and just left it there. It disappears faster than you think.
