Hopefully because its against the law. I hate when some entities are allowed to circumvent the law. Don't get me wrong....If it's legal, all the more power to you. If it's not, quit it. Don't play games with it.
Let me clarify. The calls I get have nothing to to do with me. If they were made because I didn't pay my bills I would be ok with that. But when I'm constantly getting collection calls for my wifes daughter, who never lived here, never had this phone number, and I've told numerous times to quit calling here, it pisses me off! I am not legally obligated because she used our name as a reference! I didn't sign anything! And when they start telling me they are calling to "help" it really pisses me off. I don't want people playing with the intention of the law or ignoring the intention of the law. I know some depend on this stuff for a living, but if you can't make a living following the law, then maybe your in the wrong bussiness. JMHO
edit: I admit I don't really know what the law say explicitly. I'm sure the ones engaged in this bussiness know more of whats legal and whats not than me. And I trust and hope they are obeying the law. This is more directed at the ones that don't.
I get calls here for my sister who hasn't lived in MN since I moved into this house 10 years ago so I know she NEVER used this phone number as a reference to get anything. Yet I'm still getting calls occasionally from bad debts she had in 1997 or before when she actually lived in MN. Rent a Center just called last week and left a message (wanting to "help") I'm thinking to myself you must be pretty desparate if your spending you time and money tracking b me down who's MOVED twice since she bought that stuff from rent a center!
I got calls and mail for awhile for my ex-husband's youngest sister, regarding credit matters. Now, my ex and I have been divorced for 20 years, and I have not seen his little sister in all that time.
I think they use peoplefinder.com which shows all the people who are your roommates or associates.
I did a search for my maiden name and it shows me as an associate to my ex, his entire family including his SO, my late husband, his ex-wife, and her new husband! Talk about baggage, eh?
ya it sucks sometimes but the stuff we use is like that!! I don't want to give to much!! the only reason I would want that thing that I posted about up top would be If I HAD A GOOD NUMBER that I know is them!! and now they just doing answer!! because they know its ME!!!
But all I say to you that get the calls that aren't for you call back and say I don't know them anymore haven't talked to them in YEARS and take me off your list!!! that's the real only way to get the ones that have it already to stop calling you!!
but you see I thought you all liked talking to me so that's why I keep calling!! I am sorry!!!
Dunwoody use to have a time clock that students had to use. They powers above decided that we should get the time clock back for display in our recognitional hall.... but no one has any information on it... I do have this photo:

Q: If I buy a gift card for someone this holiday, will the company still redeem it? And will returns be honored?
A: We don't know yet. Circuit City says it has asked the bankruptcy court for permission to honor returns, exchanges, and gift cards, but it does not have a definitive answer yet. Circuit City says that it does expect its request to be granted, but don't count on it until we know for sure.
Just a week after saying it was closing some stores to get its finances in order, Circuit City on Monday filed for bankruptcy protection. It will help keep creditors like Sony, Microsoft, Toshiba, and many others who have yet to receive payment for their products, at bay while Circuit City tries to get back on track. The company has also secured a $1.1 billion debtors' line of credit to keep stores open and pay its employees.
The timing, for a retailer, couldn't be worse. It's not exactly assuring that right as we're about to start holiday shopping one of the main places for consumer electronics gifts seems unstable. So what does this mean for consumers? Here are some important questions and answers about what Circuit City's current situation means for you.
Q: Does this mean less choice for places to shop for the holidays?
A: Actually, no. Circuit City will be open for business as usual. The company did announce last week that it would be closing 155 stores, which will go on as planned, but 566 of its stores will remain open. Whether they will be fully stocked is another question, but Circuit City says that its new line of credit will help keep its shelves full.
Q: Will there be any staff around to answer my questions?
A: Circuit City says it's reduced its support staff in district and regional roles, in addition to the positions eliminated at its stores currently being liquidated. Overall, there will be 20 percent fewer employees company-wide, but the retailer insists its stores will be well-staffed during the holidays.
Q: Great, will everything be on sale?
A: Not necessarily. One of the biggest myths about store liquidations and or retailers in financial trouble is the assumption that there will be huge discounts as a result. That's actually false most of the time. When companies are in debt they need to make as much money as they can in as little time as possible. Though there will be some price reductions, it doesn't mean drastic ones. As reports from last week indicated, the stores that are currently being closed were offering only minimal discounts.
Circuit City bankruptcy(Credit: Circuit City)
Q: What does this mean for Circuit City's credit cards and warranties?
A: Circuit City's co-branded Chase credit card and Circuit City Advantage Protection Plans are each handled by third parties and will not change because of the bankruptcy filing.
Q: What about Firedog?
A: Circuit City's tech support service brand will continue as normal, with no changes, according to the company.
Q: Will Circuit City be around after the holidays? Or is this just a temporary fix?
A: It's still uncertain what Circuit City could look like six months from now. However, the idea behind filing for bankruptcy and the billion-dollar line of credit is to give the company more time to sort out its finances. Its biggest problem was credit--now it has that.
In the meantime, as it proceeds with the liquidation of the 155 stores, Circuit City will get some cash for products in those stores, and eventually be freed up from the associated property leases. The retailer's balance sheet will also benefit from the payroll cut resulting from the layoffs at headquarters and in the liquidated stores. Circuit City also plans to renegotiate some of the leases it has on the stores it plans to keep open.
A: Not necessarily. One of the biggest myths about store liquidations...
I remember going into Comp USA a few days before they announced the store closing... Obviously I didn't shop everything, but most of the prices I looked at went UP 10-15% for the first week of their 'closeout' sale, then labeled 'marked down' 5% from that. What a crock.
Same deal happens at a lot of places. We shopped TV prices on a Saturday. Thought a big cheap TV at Best Buy would fit the bill. Sunday morning it was on "Sale" as seen in the newspaper ad - at $25 MORE than it cost the night before.
seeing Levitz on that list reminded me - we drive 694 almost daily, past what used to be their warehouse deal..... I always wonder why somebody hasnt bought that place....
seems like a new one of those lists comes out every month or so....
And Micro Center bought up all the CompUSA stuff. You can find CompUSA stuff there. I agree, I love Micro Center too. Usually way cheaper than BestBuy.
or if you're into homebrew... tranmicro and generalnanosystems are pretty good.. haven't been to either in a while though.. tranmicro might've gone out of business...
Still, I like shopping at micro center.. feels like the kind of place radio shack should've been... minus some of the electronics.
generalnanosystems is on for the most part if you like there crapy hrs and the fact that they are so small you can only fit about 10 people in there at a time!! at least the last time I was there!! :coolfrown:
I would think you could find them at Spencers or the like, maybe party factory or paper warehouse, party supply stores. They are on-line at amazon.com or partygag.com...with delivery in a few days.

Say hey, A and R this is mister rhythm and blues
He said hello, and put me on hold
To say the least the cat was cold
He said, don't call us child we'll call you
I said, you got my number
He said yeah, I got it when you walked in the door
Don't call us, we'll call you
Don't call us, we'll call you
I got your name from a friend of a friend
who said he used to work with you
Remember the all night creature from stereo ninety two
Yeah I said could you relate to our quarter track tape
You know the band performs in the nude
He said uh huh don't call us child we'll call you
Listen kid you paid for the call
You ain't bad but we've heard it all before
And it sounds like John, Paul and George
Any way, we cut a hit and we toured a bit
with a song he said he couldn't use
And now he calls and begs and crawls
It's telephone deja vu
We got percentage points and lousy joints
And all the glitter we can use, Mama
So, uh huh, don't call us now, we'll call you
Listen kid you paid for the call
You ain't bad but I've heard it all before
Don't call us, we'll call you
Don't call us
Don't call us, we'll call you

Can anyone help me to identify it?
that looks late 1950's to me.
my guess is maintenance took it down and threw it away or in the basement or storage room.
And the dealers that I have spoken to are placing it around the 60's as possibly an IBM Electric Time piece...
So don't buy gift cards from them?
