Debate the abortion issue here.

Everybody owned slaves back then.

so, there was no religion back then?

or is this "religious" morality deal decided by a popularity contest?

I don't know.

slavery was recognized in the Bible, you know.

slavery was recognized in the Bible, you know.

so, how does that fit in with your little "religion=morality" deal then?

Wed, 12/17/2003 - 10:12 AM Permalink
jethro bodine

it doesn't do anything. You appear to think that morality is something apart from society. You couldn't be more wrong.

it doesn't do anything.

so, you are saying that slavery is moral.

You appear to think that morality is something apart from society. You couldn't be more wrong.

who's society?

the Church's?

so you are saying there is no morality outside the Church, crabs?

so you are saying there is no morality outside the Church, crabs?

just the opposite...you are the one saying that morality=Religion

Wed, 12/17/2003 - 11:04 AM Permalink
jethro bodine

religion and morality are nearly synonymous. religion has impressed upon many a society a morality.

Wed, 12/17/2003 - 11:24 AM Permalink

yes, Religion has impressed upon societies Religion by using morality as a carrot.

that Religion has co-oped morality to persuade the masses in no way says that Religion and morality are the same.

Wed, 12/17/2003 - 11:28 AM Permalink
jethro bodine

I am sorry that you are too damn dense to understand it, crabs. Religion and morality are nearly identical.

Morality is the Trojan horse Religion uses to pull people into it's beliefs.

First you think, yea...Jesus is alright...he loves me and wants me to love others...

next thing you know you are believing that you have to kill the pariahs that don't believe the book you got....nobody expected the Spanish Inquesition you know.

I know you believe this. You believe a lot of lies.

Wed, 12/17/2003 - 11:49 AM Permalink

I know you believe this.

you would rather I believe Jim Jones or Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell or Jimmy Swaggart or David Koresh or...etc...?

Wed, 12/17/2003 - 3:27 PM Permalink
jethro bodine

No, I believe Jesus Christ.

Thu, 12/18/2003 - 7:38 AM Permalink
crabgrass

No, I believe Jesus Christ.

so do they. have you talked with Jesus lately...they did. They had him talk to them as well.

hell, Koresh believed he was Jesus Christ.

and Children believe in Santa Claus.

do you believe in Superman too?

I beleive that you are a worthless asshole.

did Jesus tell you that?

Thu, 12/18/2003 - 9:47 AM Permalink
jethro bodine

No, Jesus didn't tell me that, crabs. You told me that by your words.

Thu, 12/18/2003 - 10:38 AM Permalink

No, Jesus didn't tell me that, crabs.

Jesus speaks to you, doesn't he.

you hear voices, right?

Thu, 12/18/2003 - 5:26 PM Permalink
jethro bodine

I can't hear the voices that you do, crabs, no one can.

Fri, 12/19/2003 - 8:24 AM Permalink
crabgrass

I can't hear the voices that you do, crabs, no one can.

that's because I don't hear voices.

not Jesus, not God...no voices

has Jesus been telling you that I hear voices again? That guy is such a liar.

he told you to say that just now, didn't he?

Fri, 12/19/2003 - 1:27 PM Permalink
jethro bodine

he told you to say that just now, didn't he?

No he tells everyone. You just have to listen.

Fri, 12/19/2003 - 1:37 PM Permalink
crabgrass

No he tells everyone.

You just have to listen.

everyone who listens hears voices...

uh...

uh...

and if you listen....

those voices say for everyone to believe the same thing...

uh...

do these voices...

are they like, you know, stereo...or do they seem like they are from one point or are they like surrond-sound at the movies or what exactly?

Look, strange women lying on their backs in ponds handing out swords ... that's no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

jethro bodine

Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses..

Well if the masses are as insane as you are I would rather have it based on a "farcical aquatic ceremony."

Well if the masses are as insane as you are

you are the one pointing out that the masses should all be hearing voices, not me.

I would rather have it based on a "farcical aquatic ceremony."

then go back to England and worship the King.

This is America,

we don't have a King

or a State Religion

or a State Religion

Sure we do. It's called "public" education.

Fri, 12/19/2003 - 2:33 PM Permalink
crabgrass

and we try our best not to let people make laws based on the voices in their heads.

Fri, 12/19/2003 - 2:33 PM Permalink
crabgrass

It's [State Religion] called "public" education

I understand that you want to redefine public education as a Religion, but no, a State Religion is not "public education"...as it would be in a place that had a State Religion.

That we don't have a State Religion is why it's so necessary to have a "public education"...if the State was the Church, a public "State" education would be a State Religion education. If the State was in charge of Religious education and it was a Religious State, all State education would be Religious education.

that we don't have a State Religion or a King is one of the great things about America.

When people point out that others from all over the world want to come here, the fact that there is no State Religion or King here are a few of the more popular reasons why.

freedom from State Religion or freedom from a King are what a lot of people think of when they say America is freedom.

To escape the King's Church is why the bodine sytle Puritans came here in the first place.

It does seem as if abortion is THE key issue for Democrats. It is clearly their main, if not only, litmus test for judges.

isn't Roe v. Wade the law of the land?

I thought you were supposed to support the laws...that they were correct by virtue of simply being the law.

Aren't anti drug laws the law of the land?

Tell me how I violate the pro abortion law, dip?

Aren't anti drug laws the law of the land?

absolutely.

they are wrong.

you have told me that they aren't wrong simply because they are the law.

Tell me how I violate the pro abortion law, dip?

that's a good point.

you can't.

you have told me that they aren't wrong simply because they are the law.

I do not believe I said they are right simply because they are the law. I think someone else said you should obey them simply because they are the law. What I have written is that the drug laws are basically good.

I do not believe I said they are right simply because they are the law

here's what you said about me in relation to laws...

Much of what you advocate, at least the premises upon which you base your positions, are not within those rules [the drug laws] jethro bodine "The "War on Drugs"" 3/21/03 7:26am

now presumably you base your positions and advocate them based on the laws, since you complained that I didn't.
