My brother after buying his very first house and getting his first property tax assessment got really pissed and wrote the assessor that his house was worth a lot more than that. The tax assessor basically said "well, ok..."

Ours went up about the same Mikey. It is a proposed tax at this point. Hopefully we'll see a lesser amount when the real bill comes.

Mine went up 19 1/2% and most of that is the result of a school bond levy. We were told it would only go up about $70 and turns out it was more than $150. :worried:

My parents discovered that they were paying taxes based on a finished third floor. But there's no such thing as refunds. I guess the appraiser must have seen curtains in the attic windows and figured someone was living up there? Or maybe I told too many people I heard noises in the attic??

And it all depended on what news station you were listening to. 11 said about an inch, but Janie Peterson on 9 said 1-2 over night, another 1-2 today and maybe another 1 later today. And what adult woman calls herself Janie! That just bugs me. I dropped Janie when I was about 12! There, I got that off my chest.

What I'm talking about is as recent as last night, this gal was predicting that much snow. Also, she's predicting high of 36 on weekend, and KARE is saying 47. I'll go with KARE. Still have some painting to do. :pbpt:

time to buy a snowblower then. lowes has this really fancy one with a joystick handle for the chute.

One of those big snow plows is one of the things that didn't make the dumpster. It's got chains on the tires and headlights, for crying out loud! And it doesn't run! Of course, the boys claim they can fix it. I think I heard the same thing from the husband for years. :eyeroll:
Wed, 11/16/2005 - 8:01 AM Permalink

exactly. see, i always thought that the way the plows ought to deal with cars during a snow emergency is to jsut move them.you might find yours left down the block, or in the lake 3 miles away at the end of the road. it'd be the luck of the draw. i guarantee you if they did that, instead of tags and tows, you'd see a lot fewer cars left out during snow emergencies.

I have a pair of cardinals who spend the winter in a big old bush right outside my window next to my computer. I don't know where they live in the summer. But they're back again.

Snow shoveling is an art form for me. I round off the snowbanks so they look pretty. Kind of like snow sculpture. On years when there is a lot of snow, it looks really nice. :ooh: I have a neighbor who blows the walk if there's a big storm. I go out after he's done to round off the banks.

see and i like the nice crisp line of the snow blower through 2 foot deep snow.

Fleet farm has one for $100.00

then get it, by all means!!!

if i ever get around to spending the money on the blower attachment for my lawn mower, i'll have a blower for sale. of course, i could always "create" something for myself too

Just got done with my drive way...

A blower wouldn't have worked as it was mostly ice any way, but we are going to get one this weekend.

Dawg and bella could not make it in to the cities this morning cus of the roads, she thought she would give it another try at about 10:30 or so, she got up to Cabelas and could not see more than 1 car length in front of her so she turned around and came home.

Happy Lunch Hour!

I actually have about an hour for lunch today because of the timing of one appointment they sent me to and the next one.

So far so good. They sure need someone in that office. I'll be kept plenty busy getting things organized. The place is a mess.

It really feels good. I have high hopes and expectations that it will continue.

I hear ya. My favorite is when you need to attach an extender pole to cut the 5'-6' snowbanks at the end of the driveway just so. Like you're driving into a snow fort. :ooh:
