I saw that in the paper this morning. Great stuff! It reminded me that I still need to get the pictures off my camera. Had a nice rainbow over the lake last week after the hail storm.
I can't convey to you all how glad I am that I drove out to Fort Snelling today. I was there til almost 3. I will post some pictures later- I need to go through them and e-mail some off to some vets. I missed the 10 pm news to see the coverage :frown: .... sooo many people drove from sooo far to show their respects. I would say about 75 men showed up on motorcycles- got lots of pics of them ....the Edina police and some other county police all showed on motorcycles too....I met some great guys that were in the vietnam and korean wars. The airforce that flew overhead and the gun salutes and to hear soooo many people say the Lords Prayer outside!!!... I met Charles sister and I think his wife, Vi. and another guy who knew him that had this really cool truck with lots of current soldiers and veterans signatures literally ALL over his truck! I was bumbed to not see anyone I knew but it was sooo strange.... I felt like I knew a few of the people that I had just met...one guy said that its amazing to come to a funeral and meet wonderful people that you never would have known if it wernt for this kind of coming together, another vietnam vet thanked me for coming up and talking with him, he said that most people are afraid to come up and talk.
A day like today, even with how sad it was, to have to place my hand on my heart and close my eyes and take a deep breath - to never forget what Charles Lindberg and EVERY soldier stands for....in the presence of sooo many soldiers that seemed 'forgotten' so to speak - most of the vietnam vets dressed in leather jackets or leather vests and held a US flag that they brought themselves, current soldiers walked around in packs and wore pretty dressy blue uniforms.....there were others there who were WW2 and Korean war vets. ... I had a positive experience and an afternoon that filled me. I wish I knew how to say it ~ I guess sometimes its hard to tell outloud a feeling ~
YES! I heard tomorrow was a full moon and I'm looking forward to finding a good spot after the concert to get pictures! Tonights moon is beautiful and I hope the weather holds up to see it all tomorrow.
fireworks just ended here on the bluff
if anyone needs a place to park just give me a call and Ill see what I can do- Ill be gone most of tomorrow - gonna take a river boat ride alone in the afternoon (hoping for some good river pics). The roads are all sqew-G/closed all over over here. Parking is something like $10 near Harriet and $5 if you wanna walk 6 blocks - my house=free parking
I can't see it from home but Im running into work for a bit this morning ....
can't you tell if thats me?
it may be though- I wore a black top
for the most part I was behind the cameras as much as possible til the planes flew over - the reporters were told the planes were coming from a different direction - so the look on their faces when they heard the planes coming from behind them and they flipped the tripods around all at once and so fast right in the middle of the services - a guy appologized to them all right as it happened but it was still humourous.
Very nice Ter

Add another reason I'd rather seek other transportation than fly (not because I have any fear of flying mind you, just the delays and hassle).

I'm doing george jetson's job.
I would if I were you too. The pilot's been dead since '74. We saw his grave on Maui during our honeymoon 13 years ago.
and over.
JOEL!!!
beautiful close encounter this weekend. At closest approach on Saturday, June
30th, the two planets will be a mere 2/3rds of a degree apart. It's a pretty
sight for the unaided eye, and a great target for backyard telescopes. Even
small 'scopes will reveal the rings of Saturn and the crescent shape of Venus.
Check http://spaceweather.com for sky maps and more information.
FIRST LIGHT FOR AIM: NASA's AIM spacecraft is sending back its first pictures
of noctilucent clouds from Earth orbit. The clouds photographed by AIM have the
same intricate structure and electric-blue glow familiar to sky watchers on
Earth, but the panoramic view afforded by the spacecraft's 600 km high orbit is
unlike anything we've seen before. Check today's edition of
http://spaceweather.com for one of AIM's first light images plus an updated
gallery of ground-based sightings.
Thanks for that information, Terry. We're going to be up north also and will be watching the skies.
