Last time I went on a Halloween hayride will probably be my last time going to that place out by the Renaissance Festival. Long freaking lines for EVERYTHING.
We had to wait 111 minutes for the hayride. How do I know that was the exact time? They had a video projector running above our heads playing the 1996 movie "Scream". We got in line right when the movie started, and got on the hay wagon right when the movie ended.
well YOu see heres the kool thing is I work there And if you get there early I can get you bucked a head of the lines and kool stuff like that I dont know how many I can get throw with out paying this year but I know i can get a few in and our lines are not that long most of the time!!!
Nick didnt you go throw it with me last year??? I think you me and carolyn and maybe steve went in last year!!!
I didn't leave home until 7:30 when I went there... (Trail of Terror)
I waited many hours to get on the hayride. But... the haunted house is the largest indoor maze in the country - and from what I have seen locally - one of the better in the area. I am hoping to go again next weekend if I can come up with the dough. (I would be leaving much earlier this time, though)
There used to be a really good Halloween trail ride that went through the old stone quarries north of Mankato near Kasota - a saddle club turned the stables into a cool haunted house as well. The stables had those elevated catwalks overhead, and if someone got stuck or lost, they'd be watching and could direct you out (or directly into the next monster). I think they went belly-up about two years ago.
The best part of the trail ride was the end - they had a big full-sized (non-threatening) 10' x 20' billboard advertising the stables and asked everyone to visit year round. As the wagon drove by, it would 'crack' and fall forward like a big tree until cables caught it just inches from landing on top of the passengers. Fantastic effect!
Does anyone have any information about whatever is going on on I-494 right now? Friday evening - 8:20PM. Apparently traffic has been standing still for 45 minutes and now are being exited off the freeway.
Saw your post late. (it's 11:30pm) We went to eat at MOA tonoght and saw what was left of a car (all mangled) there on a flatbed and they were also towing a semi. The car looked like a mangled ball of steel.
Love4Vino, please check in and let us know you are OK today!
Wildfire threatens homes, wineries in Napa Valley

ST. HELENA, Calif. — Hundreds of firefighters are battling a fast-growing wildfire that is threatening homes and wineries in California's Napa Valley.
Fire officials say the blaze has burned 300 acres in the rugged hills just outside the wine country town of St. Helena. The fire was about 40 percent contained Saturday morning.
CalFire spokeswoman Nancy Carniglia says the fire has destroyed at least two structures and threatens 200 homes and several wineries.
About 100 residents left their homes under voluntary evacuation orders Friday night, and an evacuation center has been set up at St. Helena High School.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
My mother is trying to plan a party down here in the cities for 30-50 people. Trying to keep the price range to somewhere around $300. There will be kids and adults and we food needs to be included. The only place I'm able to come up with is the Cherokee Sirloin Room here in Eagan (they have very reasonable buffet pricing) but I'm trying to see if there are other places out there that might work.
the only places my family has done parties or whatever at, of that size, have been done at places like DeGidio's and Mancini's.... we're mostly Italian, so we stick with what/who we know, i guess - lol...
that or like a VFW or something, if someone can swing it.... we've done that before too...
we've done stuff at Guldens, on 61, near Beam Ave, in Maplewood too...
I did look at DeGidio's but it'd be like twice what we want to pay. :frown: Their menu looked great though. :frown: I've got expensive tastes so this is really hard for me to find something within a budget.
I know which is why I think we will be sticking with Caspers/Cherokee Sirloin Room its so cheap and the food is good we've been there before a couple of times. $198 taco bar for 50 people or $325 for a huge buffet with Rib's Cheese and Crackers, Veggie Tray, Onion Rings, Mini Corn Dogs, Chicken Drummies and Tortilla Roll ups. I just wasn't sure if there was anything else like this out there
The Mall of America is revamping its 14-screen movie theater, with plans for a new name, 3-D screens, larger seats and popcorn with – wait for it – real butter.
The Bloomington-based mall said Tuesday that its theaters will reopen Friday with the changes; the theaters have been closed since Sept. 1 during the renovations.
Among the changes: Adding digital sound and 3-D capabilities to the largest screens and building high-back, rocker “love seats,” which seat more than one patron, to each of the theaters.
In addition, the mall plans to debut a 170-seat, 21-and-older VIP theater featuring food and alcohol that will be served to moviegoersÂ’ seats.
A mall spokesman said prices wonÂ’t change, but the VIP theatergoers will be charged an additional $2 to cover the wait staff.
It has not revealed a price tag for the renovations.
The mall will be operating the theaters itself; it recently took control of them from Kansas City, Mo.-based AMC Theatres.

AMC's lease was not renewed, so now the MOA is going to run the place itself.
All 2,000+ seats in 14 theatres are being replaced, some with loveseats.
this sucks as I got AMC passes to use. I didn't try use my passes yesterday as I thought $5 bucks a ticket was cheap enuff and I'd save my passes.
the largest screens and building high-back, rocker “love seats,” which seat more than one patron, to each of the theaters...
So many theaters have these seats with armrests that fold up, etc...
Has anyone taken it to the extreme and created Make-Out Booths? Seems to me it would make sense. Sound proof booths with clear plexiglass facing the screen. Then you don't have to listen to the teenagers swapping spit over your shoulder. All camera monitored (for safety reasons).
If you really wanted, you could pimp them out at 15 min intervals!
I knew all about that as it was happening. Was a PITA to get an elevator there for a while as the were moving all the seats. The mall is supposed to open up one of them clubs on the 4th floor soon too. Hooters and Corona Cantina are getting lonly up there.
they need to bring the arcade back.... that was the best one out there....
that and when that seafood place on the 3rd floor used to be a lazer tag place... that was bad ass...
I also miss the RF Video - Pro Wrestling Shop kiosk, that was also on the 3rd floor, by that Nascar thing.... I used to shell out so much loot there, buying up rare wrestling merchandise, and tapes and stuff...
Hey does anyone want to play on my wiffleball team next summer? I had a couple guys leave so I have a few open spots on my team. It's one night a week, season runs from end of April to beginning of August.

St. Helena is very close to where I used to work like 8 years ago.
Much of my family is in the town of St. Helena. (they are all fine) I'm (as the crow flies prolly 30 or so miles from the fires.

but thanks for the worry! we get a lot of fires much closer to us than this.
You are also close to Bodega Bay, the filming location for Alfred Hitchcock's 'The Birds'.
I spent a night there once, on the recommendation of a friend, commented to the friend afterwards about all the birds, to which he said, "well, duh!"
