No - Taste of MN went bankrupt and owes a ton of money to various vendors including the city so all permits have been rejected and no one will work with them.
St Paul is currently taking applications/proposals from other companies for that weekend.
what I was getting at was that they were tradition and now they won't be around. But, thanks for clarifying what happened to each. cool facts. bummer about both.
Can this statement below be "ends" AND/OR "begins"?
I'm really tired and its 1 am and I can't concentrate on this.
meaning the same thing? like Jesus?
no but really? Does Daylight saving rrreally end? If so than does it 'end' at Eastertime too? or is Spring really 'daylight savings begins' and Fall is daylight savings ends? or can they be the other way around or both?
Daylight Savings Time ends at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, Nov., 7th.
Daylight Saving Time is the period of time when we set our clocks forward an hour from the Universal or Greenwich clock, which are based on the rotation of the earth in relation to the sun. Universal/Greenwich time is considered "real time", or standard time, as in Central Standard Time. Daylight Savings Time ends in the fall when we go back to Daylight Standard Time. So the statement is correct.
Summer and winter solstice are the times when the Earth is nearest and farthest from the sun as opposed to the Universal clock which is based on where the sun is positioned in the sky each day, such as noon and midnight.
I look at it this way. there's a point in time each year when we change what time zone we're in from CST to CDT and then another at which point we change back. the first one occurs at 0800GMT on the second sunday in march. the switch back occurs at 0700GMT on the first sunday in november. so from a philosopical perspective there is no daylight savings time, just time zone changes.
Yes you do. You save money on your light bills because it gets dark later. Most wake up at the same time most days, we're not making it up on the other end of the day.
What if you could help the Saint Paul Festival and Heritage Foundation, the proud producer of the Saint Paul Winter Carnival, win $1000 just by giving 10 bucks? On November 16, Give to the Max Day, you can.
Last year, more than 38,000 donors logged on to GiveMN.org and gave over $14 million to more than 3,000 Minnesota charities and nonprofits in 24 hours during Give to the Max Day. This year, the goal is to beat our own record by engaging 40,000 donors during the second annual Give to the Max Day on November 16. Saint Paul Festival and Heritage Foundation, together with GiveMN.org – a first-of-its-kind giving website for nonprofits in Minnesota – is working to create a stronger nonprofit community for Minnesota.
GiveMNÂ’s Give to the Max Day amplifies your giving impact in a number of ways:
• Win a Golden Ticket! $1,000 will be given to a random donor’s charity every hour. You could be that donor!
• Put us on the Leader Board! Your donation on November 16, could put us on the leader board to win $10,000 or even $20,000 for the most number of donors for our nonprofit. Help us get “on the board!”
We are preparing for our 125th celebration which will take place January 27 – February 6, 2011. Every year we host 300,000 people from the metro area and surrounding states and our event brings in 3 to 5 million dollars in economic activity.
Our tradition was born in 1886 to celebrate Saint Paul’s success as America’s fastest-growing city. All contributions are dedicated to the general operating fund of the Saint Paul Festival and Heritage Foundation. The Foundation produces and promotes community education, programs, festivals, and other community celebrations for the enjoyment of the people of greater Saint Paul and its surrounding neighborhoods. Your support, partnered with our diverse and evolving community, will help contribute to “The Coolest Celebration on Earth” for another 125 years.
GiveMN.org is the smart way for you to discover, support and engage with the charities that are right for you. The online giving platform allows you to easily find organizations that match your giving goals, support them through secure credit or debit card donations, receive automated tax deductible receipts through email, and conveniently track and record your donations in a single online location.
As you consider your charitable end-of-year giving, please consider participating in Give to the Max Day Nov. 16. GiveMN is easy to use, and your gift to Saint Paul Festival and Heritage Foundation will make a huge difference to our ongoing festival. Thank you and Think Snow!

Ok so kids are gone for the weekend and I don't have to work until Tuesday anyone want to come over to my apartment tonight? CM and me2 are coming and TMK expressed interest possibly. Planning on sitting in the hottub, having some wine/drinks, playing games....Let me know. I put a message up on facebook the other night as well.
If anyone has been considering making a donation to the North American Bear Center, donations made today via the Great Minnesota Give-Together, also score points for the Bear Center, which is currently in first place, and if they stay in first place, they will receive $20,000 in addition to the donations pledged.
Can I get everyone to cross their fingers for me?!?! I just got word the full time Case Manager here just pulled his hours back to every other weekend because he took a position somewhere else. Which means that I will probably have the option of taking the day/evening shift working 2 or 3 day shifts and the opposite number of evening shifts each week, getting me off the over nights!!! The swiching back and forth will play hell with child care but at least I won't have to have my mom staying with me after she fully recovers from her surgery just to help out with overnight care for the kids.
they say that they "hope" to have it back open again next year, but dont know.
