"LOL!! Bella and I just finished making the gingerbread cookies and wouldn't you know it they ran away again!!! She was busy rolling out more dough so I made all the ones up to that point "disappear", you should have seen her face when she turned around and saw they were GONE! She even looked outside for tiny foot prints in the snow. LOL!!
The following batches that came out of the oven she made sure to keep an eye on and put them in the cookie jar ASAP! She now has bits of sticky dough sealing the cookie jar lid so the rest of them don't run away. She even told the rest of them "please don't run away! I want you to see Santa!"

ok I am looking to get a new pair of boots mine just aren't cutting it anymore. My toes are always going numb so without toe warmers I'm miserable I'm looking to get a pair of boots that I might not have this issue I'm looking for suggestions. I've found these and they look good on "paper" but would like any feedback you all can give me. Also feel free to give other suggestions as well I need to keep the price in this range or less. Sorel Caribou Thanks for any help.
I've had my sorels for over 20 years now. Clunky walking, but feet stay warm. Make sure they are not tight on your feet and leave room for heavy socks.
Sorel's are quite open on the top, and with all the snow this year, will fill up with snow. Something that ties tighter around your ankle keeps the snow out. Keeping your feet dry is the key to staying warm. Downside to pac boots are that they are difficult to walk in for long distances and clunky walking like Mikey said.
Ice fisherpeople know what it takes to keep their feet warm:
Just a couple suggestions from an ice fisherman and geocacher who spends a lot of time walking long distances in the winter. Personally, I use thinsulate lined leather boots that also have Goretex to keep them waterproof. They work much better in snowshoes.
I currently have a pair of Sorel's that I bought 10 years ago but my toes just aren't staying warm in them. They are alittle tight with my socks on so I'm going to make sure to get a pair that will be big enough for my wool socks. I really don't want to spend much more than $100 even that is pushing my budget.
When I was a kid delivering newspapers, we used to buy XXL Army surplus artic Bunny boots and wear tennis shoes inside. I wonder of you can still buy those boots? Very warm and very cheap.
Try Sportsman's guide. They have an outlet store and a catalog counter right here in So. St. Paul. I usually wear a man's boot. There's more room for heavy socks without being tight. I think you'd want a 400-600 gram Thinsulate boot.
I found some Columbia Boots for the $100 price range that I like the look and style of but they are only rated for -25F. Honest opinion, will I be happy with this in the long run knowing my toes get cold easy or should I find the extra cash and spend the $130 it'll cost to get a pair rated for colder -40 to -65F? Honestly the temps never get that cold without the windchill factor so do I need the -40 to -65? But would it be beneficial even if it doesn't get that cold knowing my toes always seem to go numb from the cold?
Boots for warmth are NOT MEANT FOR FASHION. Keep that in mind. Go a half size to a full size bigger - that extra trapped air in the boot keeps your feet warmer a helluva lot longer, plus it give you room for one or two warm socks. Plus, if your feet sweat, the moisture will not get trapped immediately next to your skin, which means a quick freeze-up.
I swear by these. They keep my feet nice and warm, and they are easy to run around in. That is my one gripe about Sorels, they tend to not be as firm between the ankle and knee and therefore are a bit clumsy.
Oh my boots are not fashionable at all! But I want something that's not going to be too cluncky to walk around in because I have a hip issue that gets screwy and very painful if I walk around in something that makes me walk not normal the snow screws it up enough need the boots to be easy walkin'. I am going to definately buy one size bigger I always thought they should fit that if there was extra room it would just hold the cold...I know I'm not so smart....
You have all given me some great info thanks!! I just wanted info from the experts. I didn't want to just take some sales clerks suggestion when they probably have never been outside in the middle of winter in their lives!
This may sound a little weird, but I believe that wind chills won't matter in terms of the temperature rating of the boot. If the temperature is 10 below, and the wind chill is 40 below, the temperature of the air itself is still only 10 below. The wind chill means if something is exposed to the wind, it will lose heat at the same rate it would if the temperature were 40 below, and since we are losing heat faster, it *feels* colder, even though the temperature is the same whether the wind is blowing or not. With a good pair of boots, your feet shouldn't be exposed to the wind, and thus you really only have the air temperature to worry about. So maybe that will save you $30.
Thats what I was thinking that -25 should be good enough because honestly if it's that cold I'm leaving the hunting up to y'all and I'm staying home with some hot cocoa  I just wanted other opinions about the temp rating and how accurate it really is.
Starting to go a little crazy waiting for the hunt. It is creeping into my mind almost non stop. This is bad. Way too much time until the start of the hunt for this to be happening.
from years of playing hockey as a kid growing up and years of taking off my skates only to look down and see blue toes I now have issues with cold feet and poor cirulation.
I have had nice sorals, great big irish setters (which i do like), and muks ...I gotta agree with mucluck the muks are the way to go...
