Sitting here at work, listening to the airplanes take off from the new runway out at the MSP airport. Hmmmm... And I'm all the way over here in the midway, what the heck?
if I was that mexican guy in the end with the pompador(sp?) and was hanging out with my 2 other mexican homies, and an entite gang of squeeky clean "gringo's" came running out of noplace, all wigglin their fingers at me, and singin a song?
I dunno about you....
but I think I'd crap the chilito, and 2 bean burrito's I had for lunch down the back of my pants....
That's It! You just spelled my destiny for tonight. I have a bar/restaurant in my complex that I walk past every day about 10 times and never went in for an after work drink. Mostly because it's either closed when I leave or I just want to get home and away from work. I just returned from walking past there 5 minutes ago and thought that maybe tonight I'll stop in for one. Then remembered that I have bills to do at home.
Screw that now. It's Miller time (in an hour anyway)
I dont think ive ever seen one here on the east side of saint paul either now that I think about it... have you?
come to think of it....
I dont think ive ever seen a musical gang of teens having a rumble in west saint paul either....
I guess im gonna hafta pay closer attention, next time I go over that way to target or wal-mart, or pawn america, or best buy, or the car wash, or whatever.....
I originally wasnt even supposed to do it, but the kid that had the part got suspended over something stupid, and nobody else had learned their lines....
the stuff from h.s. though... every part I got, was what I auditioned for....most of them ended up being leads....which surprised the hell out of me and everyone I knew....
trust me... Ive got about as much talent as....well... cant think of something that has little talent, or this line would be funny....but I dont have much...
I just had a way of getting out there and doing it, and making everyone go "who the hell is that dude, and why wasnt he in stuff before now?"
my answer?
I was too focused on trying to chase my dream of playing baseball...
That's funny cuz I knew this jock in high school who actually took theatre as a class but never tried out for any plays. He had alot of natural ability and I even told him so. He oblviously didn't believe so, or was to pressured to stay with the Football/Hockey /Baseball thing since that is supposedly cooler.
I loved theatre and was in a few plays. It didn't bother me at all not to get any big roles. I was happy just to be apart of it all. Those people were the most interesting, talented, smart, and funny group of people I've ever hung with.
what about that little one where the landing lights cross the freeway?
actually, we live about a half mile off the flight path and haven't even noticed it. well, at least until we parked in the east ramp at the mall of america and watched one land so close to the ramp you could have ordered peanuts.
I wasnt a jock... thats pretty much why i didnt make the team....which was my only sport....not counting the fact that I had played with the same guys since we were 5 or 6, and with only so many spots to fill, the politics of who else played what other sports, and sucked up to the coaches came into play....
I ended up in theatre, kinda by accident there too...
they had just replaced the guy that ran the theatre for like 80 billion years, with some new guy that actually graduated a couple years after my sister (she was in 90)... and he ran some add thing on our schools morning announcements talking about how he wanted to see people that were interested in plays/theatre/acting....
having talked with my sister about it, and since she knew the dude, she convinced me to ask him if he was gonna do "Grease" and that I should audition for it....
I talked to him....
he wasnt doing that particular one, but had an interesting idea, where if he got enough students, we would write our own play/script in connection with some of the "chorus" classes, using a ton of broadway numbers, he had purchased the rights to use
the rest was history... I was hooked...
one acts, dramas, comedies, mixtures....
even participated in the speech team, my senior year....that was blast... getting to go to other schools and just basically talk and tell stories, and be animated (I was in the humorous interp. category)
the mn state highschool league also does a one act play comp. every year....our school competed in that too....actually felt like a sports team on those trips....huge ass bus, pulling a trailer behind with all our props...
we never did anything big though, because the judges in those comps were very against us.....
the same 3 schools seemingly always advanced every year, and had been the same way for many years prior....
they should have treated that like a sport, and given out letters for that crap to us, man....damn
Oh my god I was in speech too....Humorous Interp. I didn't try out until my senior year. I was too chicken to before. My best friend was in it and I got inspired to try out. Our high school has one of the best speech teams in the state. Over 100 people try out and only 60 make it. More popular than the football team. Anyway it was the moments in my life where I can say I was really proud of myself. For taking a risk. I was also in the one act competition except I was the head costumer. I've thought of doing community theatre..... the twin cities area is famous for it's large theatre base.
did any of you know that, that famed "angel of death" cemeary.. aka... I think its real name is oakland cemetary, over off of jackson.... here on the east side, has some deer living in it?
I love the sound of trains rumbling through. Inks' folks - and now his step dad live about a block from the tracks out in west central Minnesota. The kids loved visiting and then running to the big patio door to watch the trains when they heard the whistle.
At night, they would wake out of a dead sleep and have to be picked up to look out the window in the bedroom to "see" them...though at night there wasn't much to see by the time the engine went through.
I'll have to take a pass but thank you for asking. After I went to Saw 1 getting chained to a radiator with a stranger across the room and a dead guy in between us just seemed really creepy.
ugh - I missed so much being gone for 5 hours. *sigh*
I lived on a military base - fell asleep to the sounds of the planes doing their engine checks and LOVED it.
Lived 300 feet from the trains in our summer home in MN and I can hear them from my Boy's house now - and I LOVE it - it's comforting.
Hear Gun fire AND have the spotlighted helicopters flying over my house and flicking the light in my back yard at least 1-2 times a month (summer more than winter)
have deer walking into the cellar at work drunk from eating the pumice and poking around during the day - which startles the hell out of me
finally - LOVED theater in HS, wrote and directed the play we did my Junior year. Sang several major roles for the musical montage of Andrew LLoyd Webber and did a list of other theater shows - enough for a full ride scholarship to Ashland Oregon if I had wanted to study theater. (which I turned down - stupid stupid stupid)

no offense to wolf-hairband rockers anywhere, but I actually put blame on Great White for things....
so....check it out....theres this hole in the o-zone layer, right?
a bunch of that damage is/was caused by excessive use of aerosol spray cans.....
many of those were used in the 70's/80's by wolf-hairbands....
great white was probably one of them...
they burned down a bar, and a buncha people died...
the fire was probably caused, because they still use alotta hairspray....
how they caused the hurricane....im not totally sure of yet...
but their name is great white.... and where else do great white sharks live, but the ocean.....
im sure that has something to do with it...
either that, or im sure that what I just spent 5 minutes typing out, sounds utterly retarded, and everyone should simply dis-regard it.....

I was in Bye Bye Birdie too in high school! I was chorus/angry parent/reporter. I had two lines. Theatre was a hoot.
Ooohh Conrad we love you........

I grew up about 300 feet from the "whistle crossing" in Grandy, MN...can't stand trains...
wish ours had 60 people... i think we had more like 6....lol...
damn right theres a huge theater circle around here...
there was that big ass festival the past 2 years in MPLS...supposed to be the 2nd biggest in the country...
and you?
I can sit in my screened in, and locked porch, and hear the gunfire in the distance, and not have to worry about deer crap in my yard. :coolfrown:
okay.... im over-exaggerating... I live in the good-part of the bad part of the city.... if thats even possible....
but atleast theres no deer crap.
although I saw one at Phalen a couple days ago....
weird stuff...
did any of you know that, that famed "angel of death" cemeary.. aka... I think its real name is oakland cemetary, over off of jackson.... here on the east side, has some deer living in it?
saw them the other day, going past it....
At night, they would wake out of a dead sleep and have to be picked up to look out the window in the bedroom to "see" them...though at night there wasn't much to see by the time the engine went through.
Congrats Terry.
Anyone wanna go? Just asking....
