The hunt for the 2005 Cottage Grove winter medallion is still on.
Recreation officials said no one has found the medallion since the search began Monday, and time is running out.
The city's recreation department and Teens in Action, a city youth organization, are sponsoring the contest, which has been held each winter for the past eight or nine years.
Hunters have until 4:30 p.m. Friday to find the medallion — which is hidden on public property in the city — and turn it in to City Hall. The winner will receive a $400 cash prize from Merchants Bank.
Participants in the medallion hunt must be between ages 5 and 18 to be eligible for the prize.
Clues are available at the city's Web site at http://www.cottage-grove.org/under the 2005 Winter Medallion Hunt link.

agggghhhh!!!!! I didn't know this was going on!!!!!!
The stakes have risen higher than they have ever been...Merchants Bank has set the Grand Prize at $400.00 if you find the medallion. The Cottage Grove Recreation Department along with Teens in Action has hidden the medallion on public property in Cottage Grove or St. Paul Park. Youth in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade are eligible to find the medallion and collect the Grand Prize! Daily clues will be posted at all of the local schools and at Cottage Grove and St. Paul Park City Halls. The medallion must be returned to the Cottage Grove City Hall Recreation Department by 4:30 on Friday, January 30, 2004 to receive $400.00 from Merchants Bank.  Â

OK ..take that back...I couldn't even bring a pre-schooler anyways.......what fun is that? ha....heh...
I have no idea what I'm doing! Good start, right? I am posting to this discussion thread because I've seen your names in previous years. I dig. I hunted with fervor last year and was in the mosh pit until 1:30a but had to work at 0630, otherwise I would have stayed out all night! Can't wait for this years' hunt!
welcome becksie! Seems like you're about as insane as the rest of us. I was out till 4am last year on the last clue (Clue Master and a few others were as well).
Instead of hunting from 9pm to midnight or 1am with an old clue....maybe I'll sleep, get up at 3am, and hunt with a new clue......
I've often thought of that but then you miss the fun at the PP. Plus the new clue comes out at 11:30 right? So you can start hunting at midnight with a new clue.
If lurker means that I don't post often, I could be that, too! When the hunt starts, I'll be nowhere near my computer. I was so sleep-deprived last year...
I'm hoping my sister in Texas will join me again this year for the hunt but I'm becoming doubtful. I will most likely be hunting by myself. I was hoping to come to the bash at McGoverns...have some drinks, meet some other med hunters...
Yeah, come to Mcgoverns, we'll be in the basement. Try and not be too intimidated by the fact that we all know each other already and introduce yourself, etc... everyone will be very nice to you I am sure.
FYI - The CG medallion has been found. I wish I knew earlier. I was over there for the game yesterday and was even talking about the hunt with all the kids. They are excited to hunt. It would have been cooler if we were able to go out and look in their town right after the game. Darn

No, lurker means you don't most ever. Welcome aboard! Always nice to see another dedicated hunter find our site.

Unless you're like me and halfway through shoveling your driveway you convince yourself it's in your neighbors driveway. Stupid second guessing!
That makes two of us...
You mean you don't rehash the clues in the summer too?? (Maybe the shrink is right, I may have a psychosis...)
:P
OT--
I nvr knew you worked at "lets play hockey" ...oh thats cooler!
Welcome Becksie hope to see you ate the pre dig=)
Just got back from Fleet Farm I got my first Head lamp and a Balaclava. Whoo Hoo I am ready to dig.
They are afraid of that stuff here.....

I was hoping that I could bring home my Night vision goggles.... I had my entrenching tool out last year, it worked excellently!!
Maybe we could trade my folding shovel for one of those guns that MRS.Liberty is holding up there.... looks like it has a camera and everything :)
I worked at LPH end of '80's until mid 90's, Kitch. I still use my press pass occasionally! lol It was a fun job.
Welcome aboard Becker! Newbie's rock!
