Turns out it was just my stupid browser! I had this site open in one and Yahoo in another and couldn't get to anything in Yahoo, but could see this one fine. Then I ended up going to Yahoo in the other one and it worked fine, and then when I went back to the first browser, it still didn't work. So I closed that browser window and now everything is fine. And now that I can get to my email, you may find this interesting:
If you have a Yahoo account (for example, you use Yahoo email, clubs, or groups), be aware that Yahoo has recently set all of your "marketing preferences" to "Yes".
This includes the possibility of being contacted by regular mail or by phone, if you have included that info in your account. It most definitely includes getting email ads/spam.
You must change these settings to "No" if you don't want this to happen.
Log into Yahoo at http://groups.yahoo.com/Click "Account Info" in the upper right corner Click "Edit your marketing preferences" Change your settings as needed Click "Save changes"
i'm just pissed at them because they're dropping the email forwarding service. i loved it when my geocities.com account was freely available to forward wherever i wanted it. yahoo buys geocities, and subjects me to spam in order to retain that service. screw 'em. time to put one of those ieee addresses to use!
Ahhh... The Cheesecake continues to corrupt!!! I am SO glad that you people are using that formula for dessert! I've used that recipie since I was a wee pre-teen, and until this forum, no-one I know has given it a try.(chickens!!!) Thank You! for keeping it alive and enjoying the simple decadence of milk products. >>>>By the way, I caught a very nice 7lb trout, during my 65 hour gotta-get-a-fish Lake Superior marathon. ... No Coho Salmon, and I gave the trout to my sister. If the bonfire isn't 'til the 7th, that gives me some time to catch more, smoke them, and bring them to share with you! ...But has anyone given a thought to having the bonfire at Crosby? The fire-pit there is cool, and under a shelter, with room for many, and there's a couple of picnic tables beneath a roof. As far as I know, there isn't a biffy, but plenty of paved trails, off which any female can squat in peace, and private. Hidden Falls has a Port-a-John, but I don't think you can have a good fire there. As far as wood, I can bring the stuff to get a coal base, and some birch for the "aroma therapy" But other than Crosby, which has TONS of river driftwood, I don't know that any other parks have too much burnable stuff...of course there's also the "official Park Closing Time" But rest assured, if this gathering takes place anywhere wood can be scavenged, I will find it. I understand that Newell has been good to you, but ask that you consider Crosby as well. See Ya, MCD'S KT
I didn't suggest Crosby because I didn't even realize they had one, but I'm not necessarily opposed to it. Is it accessible this time of year? No closed gates or anything? We could go there as an educational experience to become familiar with it. Anyone know of a reason not to go there?
hubby went to check out that wood but he said the pieces were too big and we don't have a chain saw so he didn't grab any. ares, any idea what my kid could have done to my puter to make the mouse quit working? he was playing around on the puter yesterday while I was gone and now the mouse won't do anything. using the keyboard sucks!
LL - I know this sounds simpleton, but be sure it's plugged in and hasn't been pulled loose. The other thing may be that he somehow uninstalled it. Do you still have the install disk?
Better keep moving on here. Have a great day everyone!
yep. first check if its plugged in (many problems have been solved that way). beyond that, if the mouse isn't showing up in the control panel, its time for a new mousey.
I checked out Crosby yesterday. An interesting setup there as it's a sheltered fire pit. Found out that the electricity there works also. There's plenty of wood sitting around the park that could be gathered up so even if we didn't bring any, we'd maybe have enough, though I think I'll be able to get some anyway. So why not have it there?
This is for anyone who's not in any of the Yahoo Groups:
Who says we can only get together once a year? Some of us need to get our fix of treasure hunting throughout the year and sitting around with other hunters trading stories is one way to do it. And besides, some of us actually like each other. So in that light, we're planning a bonfire for this Sunday. Won't be any hunting involved necessarily, but it sould be a good time.
The location will be Crosby Park at the picnic shelter there (which also has a sheltered bonfire pit!) For those of you not particularly familiar with Crosby, it's along the Mississippi between 35E and Hidden Falls Park. You get there from Shepard Rd., turning at Gannon (which is where Buca di Beppo is) and then tale the long driveway down into the park. If you're heading northwest on Shepard, there are signs directing you and I imagine there are signs coming from the other way as well.
We'll get the fire going around 4pm and we'll have a potluck as far as food goes. There does seem to be electricity there as I saw at least one outlet and I tested it and it worked. The park closes at 10 and being a Sunday I doubt it will go any later than that. If you have any wood to bring, go ahead and bring it as we'll need the fire to keep warm. Although right now the forecast is saying it will be in the mid 50's that day, so it shouldn't be too bad.
So that's this Sunday, April 7th, at 4pm in Crosby Park for a bonfire and potluck. Any questions? Hope to see you there!
We'll be there. If we get north this weekend, we'll try to bring back some wood. Not sure what I'll bring for the potluck, but I'm sure I'll think of something appropriate.
Yes, there was a grill near the shelter, though outside of the shelter. We could use that if need to, but I guess I'd want to know for sure that we would need to before lighting up charcoal for it.
What it looks like outside is NOT my idea of April - or Spring! Someone *please* get this fixed! The couple of nice, 50's teaser days that we've had are haunting me....
I went by to look at that wood, too. I didn't see any signs that said "free", and it also looked pretty big and bushy yet. So it's good that there's plenty to be had at the park.
It probably should be noted too that there are TWO different parts of Crosby. I believe that the entrance Allison is referring to is just about right across the street from the big airport parking place and US banks facility. The other is *right* there by 35E, and does not have good parking at all. Just in case anyone were to go to that one and think it was pretty crappy......just keep going west down Shepard and you'll get to the *real* entrance.
I don't know how these weekends are flying by with such speed - sure hope they slow down a little come Summer time! Best get going here - MCL!
G'morning, all! The best way to direct you to Crosby is to tell you that the entrance is where the River Blvd ends, and Shepard begins. There is a stop light in that intersection. At the light, head South, straight towards the river, the road will turn to the left (east) and head downhill. You will pass Watergate Marina, and the place in the hill where the JC'S hold the Tunnel of Terror. There is only the one shelter, easy to find. As far as the wood situation...I am a pyro, and can burn ANYTHING once I have a good coal-base. I also have all I need to get that base going. Word to the wise... That fire-pit tends to burn HOT, and scavenged river wood is kind of stinky. Long sticks are recommended, and if you think you may not want to cook your food over river wood, bring a little weber. And wood anyone can stash in their trunk in welcome. The way this week has been going so far, there may be 37 feet of snow covering everything.Heheh.
I gotta admit XTH, that was funny.

Done. Thanks for the heads up Allison!
Thanks Allison. I hate companies that do stuff like that!

K.T. you are so right about Crosby. I was hoping the medallion was there so we would have the re-hash there. It's a verycool fire pit.
Just breezing through to wish those that celebrate....Happy Easter!!!!
Crosby sounds cool, I've never been there myself and always like to check out new places, and there's something about being by the river that I love.
I didn't suggest Crosby because I didn't even realize they had one, but I'm not necessarily opposed to it. Is it accessible this time of year? No closed gates or anything? We could go there as an educational experience to become familiar with it. Anyone know of a reason not to go there?
Well, there is/was that guy who lives in the side of the hill, but I don't think he'd bother us.
I'm not sure that I'd be able to make it, but the area definitely made an impression on me.
BTW, there is a cache hidden, only a few hundred yards away.
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!
what liquor lady said.
happy easter.
and crosby definitely sounds cool. did anyone get any of that free wood? i know i forgot to :(
State Mottos (unofficial)
Thanks for the recipe K T. It was great!

Morning Ralph.

yep. joke's on us. for thinking that winter was over. @#$% snow.
So who turned the calendar back? What happened to Spring?!?! What a gross white site outside!!!

i'm thinking sno-balls and frozen hot dogs would be appropriate! actually i hate sno-balls, but given the weather, ya know.
I'm thinking more like hot stuff.
Are there grills out there to use?
:: opens his guide ::
doesn't show in my guide. but, marshmallows and hot dogs work just fine over a fire pit. won't work so well for a new york strip, but still.
however, the cityshows it having a grill.
Whatever dinner gets to be, the getting together part is the best. Sure hope this week speeds along and Sunday comes quickly!
I'm headed for the sheets. Long day behind and another long day coming up.
Goodnight, SCDs and MCL!!
scds and mcl, ter.

agreed, aw.
Sounds Good! Looking forward to it!
filling the pot with Caffè Verona...
stocking cold beverages...
hot, gooey, Cinnabuns...
MCL Ya'll!
Good Morning!

basically if you make it in to crosby, and don't find a parking lot, ya used the wrong entrance.
this white crap on the ground is really starting to annoy me!!!!!!

Morning Ares. Are YOU bringing a shovel?
