1999 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

Mark M.

Tender, Matthew Chapter 5 Verse 9 reads: "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God". Don't know if this helps?

Has anyone thought that the word "tome" is used because it rhymes with home?

I could be part of the "CREW"...... Nah.....

Hey Rock - I agree the clues have been bizzare. When this is all over, this clue writer is either going to be considered a genius or a complete idiot. BUT - because

everyone is scattered - and it's late in the game (#9 out tonight!!) - I think that supports a smaller park.

Hey Dave - I'm going out diggin in about 15-minutes. Give me a call on my mobile if you have any thoughts. I'll e-mail you my # again.

I doubt the clues have anything to do with a bible verse. The liberal editorial staff would not tollerate it.

yes i think your right because usually if it was a big park they would give side streets or something in the park by now, but if it doesnt have anything to do with

highland tonight then im going to have to say either linwood-bizarre idea or Newell.

Mark M Mathtew 5:9 adorns the front door of the capitol mall. Just got back from there, planned to return to the scene? Any thoughts?

Another argument for a smaller park:

The prize is bigger so they want to make it harder to find. There are dozens of parks that aren't listed in the phone book, I think it could be one of them.

I'm not confused anymore. Just came in from hunting and I have to agree with Cougar - all signs lead to Conway. No doubt in my mind.

but it might have said the streets i mean a line of trees refers to a hedge which could mean edgecumbe, or the line of trees could mean PINEhurst, OAK ave and

another tree name that surrounds highland plus if you spell out the letters in each clue it spells out SAINT FR----S. which means that saint francis has booyas at

highland everyyear or Saint francis school is visible from linwood

jaguilar

at first i thought that it had to be a big park since surely a LOT more people will be out looking for the big prize but now that 8 clues are out and still no definite park

i'm inclined to agree it is at a smaller park but still in a park. they probably will never pinpoint the park this year. check out all the parks by downtown and any that

might have a peak nearby

Why would it be at conway? give some reasons.

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 1:55 PM Permalink
Donut Man

Maybe it was at the capitol. They hid it several months ago. Maybe it was in the package taped to the tree that the keystone cops thought was a bomb. Remember

that Day? If it was in the package it is now on the highway somewhere.

Tender, Matthew is the 1st book in the New Testament, which are the books of the "four" Gospels... But I agree with Donut Man, I don't think they would bring

religion into this, too touchy!

First got turned on to Conway by clue trees in a line + wood row. That will give you a name i.e. Woodrow Wilson. Wilson street runs along the south of Conway

park. Then #8 about the peak has to be the glass pyramid on top of Sun Ray shopping center. It lights up at night. I'm pretty dang sure this is the place.

The capital has a point that is glowing in the day or night. Four horses sit on top. The history center across the street. John Ireland Boulevad?

Mushie not bad the clues do fit but i still have my doubts oh and MARK? iconoclast was referred to as the Highlanders fighting the Christians back awhile ago so

why wouldnt they bring that in?

don't think they would worry about religious references at all, if people don't like it they can choose not to participate. i think it refers to being someone

who breaks tradition though, not religion

tengrand richer, I'm glad someone else can see what I'm talking about. Though I know alot of parks match, but that 5:9 matthew at the front has got me going back

there!

Jag...peak is visible to the rear of the park...church steeple...I agree with your interpretation of iconoclast...they are not going to get people all stirred up with religion

etc. Thanks confused...went there today to look around and I sure can see what you mean...but I still dont think so.... :))

from now on i am looking only at parks where there is a peak, and i'm not really going to go to any of the parks with water in/nearby notice the absence of any

reference to water? usually by now there has been some mention of water if the park has a lake, creek, river, etc....

hey all. i have been lurking here/reading posts for the last few days...some confusing clues!!! i have some hunches. Anyways... I was wondering if any of you would

mind posting

1) where they hid it last year and in what manner

2) what happens if somebody finds it and doesn't tell anybody (for some reason) like...do they have a person check to make sure it's still there??

Ok that's all.. good luck to everybody :)

I was at Conway today for about 3 hours, nice fit. There was a wooden sign in foul territory in one of the fields that had the numbers 6543 on it. It was in the right

field foul ground, right field being position number nine in baseball. 9 5 4 I thought, plus they say "right" a lot in the clues so I dug like hell, eventually hit something

that didn't sound like snow, it was in a softball shape! Thought I was ten grand richer, turned out to be a perfectly shaped snowball that had iced over!!!! DOH!!
