1999 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

What's your explanation then, Matt13...the one-nut-wonder...:-)

It is Conway..they practically spelled it for you. There is no argument as to whether it is a flippin' park. Where do you play softball...at the park..where do you take

kids to play on a playground....at the park...do they have to say the word on the building? No, the building is not a park, it's a center...it's what is around it but there

is no way that any of the 3 rinks are EQUAL size, and there isn't room for 3000 people between them!!!!

One definition of plane in my dictionary would be a plane tree (i.e. Platanus acerifolia). This tree would have golf ball size fruits attached to it.

A & J - Check clue #5, "You might be very near your goal". Could it be goal, as in goalie, ie the net? Somewhere near the net on either hockey rink? Also, does

9,5,4 have any geometric meanings? Just trying to help...

The things at conway and if you go there it is pretty obvious that there are two planes of ice (skating areas) and I was digging there te other day because no one else

had even though the rest of the park looks like a battle field.

He was probably about 50 yrs or so and his legs were thin but I couldn't tell about the top half because of a thick jacket. He wasn't wearing very warm clothes and

wasn't digging himself. Slightly balding on top too.

It's at Conway FOR SURE!

I must admit. I feel kind of bad. I brought along a baseball to have a size idea while digging. Well I dropped it. I am sure that made for some frustrating fun for

someone! I have no idea where I dropped it. But it fell out of my pocket after I got out of the car.

IS EXACTLY WERE THE WCM IS: STANDING BETWEEN THE RINKS, I AM TOLD ITS ONLY ABOUT 10 FEET APART. ALINE YOURSELF SO

THAT THE 3M SIGN IS AT 9 OCLOCK AND RUTH STREET AT 5 OCLOCK AND THEN FACE THE SUN RAY SIGN (THE TRANSLUCENT

PEAK) WALK TOWARD THE SIGN AND WHEN RUTH STREET BECOMES 4 O'CLOCK IT IS RIGHT THERE ON THE GROUND IN A WHITE

UNINFLATED RUBBER BOLLON. SOMEBODY GO GET IT FOR GOOD SAKE ORE I 'LL FLY THERE TOMMORROW AND GET IT MYSELF.

Just got back from Conway. I was happily digging between the two ice rinks when all of sudden at 11:30pm three hundred angry cell phone wielding cockroaches

smothered me. I tried to stick to my ground while being hit with digging implements from all sides! I was able to make it out alive sans medallion. I have never seen

anything like it before.

POOH: Do you have a paper in front of you? Cuz I do and it says "PLACES" not "PLANES". I would guess the paper is right but who really knows!!

what's with places (paper).....planes(internet)

It was a great site to see the throng transformation to the rinks!

It was as if a Mob was chasing Frankenstein through the park!!!!

Who knows about..."Seeing a thing twice can be quite nice"

A great night on the ol EAST SIDE!!!!!!!

PIE was right again!!! Now I think we should hunt for the clown who wrote these last clue and make him dig up the rest of the park with his fingers.

Aren't the clues suppose to make it easier?! Just drove by Conway - what a mess! Hoping tomorrow (today) brings something!

I was at the park on Sunday during the day, with binoculars. That's when I noticed the Conoco sign and wondered if it could possibly mean anything. It is amazing

the things one can tie in to the clue when you are scoping with binoculars!!! Also kinda fun to watch people dig, find people you know, and check out landmarks in

the park without walking around the entire place!

If it's at Highland, then where is the large red object in the sky? If it's at Battle Creek, then where is the water on high, and the glowing translucent peak?

Just got back from Conway and read a few posts back. I agree that there is something very suspicious about the hockey rinks. There are three of them, not two, and

no two of the three are the same size. Plus that would be way to easy compared to the rest of these clues, or even clue #11 from last year. Plus, I think it would have

been found by now. Jim Buzz, you're sure about the "PLACES" thing? You wouldn't be pullin gone over on us would you? Because if you're right, that would make

SO MUCH MORE sense.

Wed, 02/03/1999 - 12:00 AM Permalink
DaBrewMan

If I found it I would find a little kid and give it to them and tell them to go give it to their parents. That look on the parents face would be worth 10,000 grand to me :)

Kitch - not HP - just drove by there too and there wasn't 1 single person compared to the 100 that have been there. Plus, I think there was something that said it's

NOT at Highland on one of these pages. I've lost track - going crazy. Wishing it would end soon! :-)
