Man, how depressing! I am really happy for Cathi--that she was the lucky one that found it, but when you commit all the days and nights just on the hunt and then it is over--- how, I dunno--- now it is back to the 'real world'-- yuck! I got so many dishes and laundry to do... ha ha ha...
arrg. Last year, I didn't think it was at Newell. This year, I really didn't think it was at Como. No way. ... Wrong again. Methinks next year I'll just follow the crowds, even if I disagree. Then again, maybe next year I'll actually be right.
lemme see if i got this straight. clues 11 and 12 aren't yet available? have they not been written yet? and is there a conspiracy to gather us all in one place and potentially move it to a different park?
Off the subject, but I just put in my resume this morning for a job at channel 5, wish me luck. If you know anyone from channel 5 human resources, put in a good word for me!!!
What's the website where the explanations are given... I am so DEPRESSED!!! Glad that a yearly hunter won and the whole $10,000... just too bad it wasn't one of us!
Is there any chance there may be a second medallion? Yeah, right...keep wishing. Went in the bosses office and ripped up the 'ol vacation request form. Damn for us, but good for her-at least she was a dedicated digger and not some unemployed yawho that wandered through the park.
looking at the explanations, I really can't believe that they used a TWO-PART clue to tell us what the medallion was hidden in. I mean, yes, it threw us off (and I have no problem with the writer trying to confuse us), but why bother telling us that it's inside a sock inside a box of soap?? It's not as if I'd find the box and then say, "oh, this has a sock inside it ... I won't even bother to see if there's also a medallion in there!" Of course, I'm just mad because I didn't find it. Still ...
Guys, there IS a medallion hunt this weekend in Hudson WI (where I am from). Of course, it is LAME! One year, it was in a store's greenhouse. How can I hunt for that at 1am?! It's worth $500 in gas and groceries at a local convenience store chain.
Thanks for everyone's help. Hopefully I will make itback out here nextyear tohunt. Pretty funny, my roommate was thinking about this hunt and if itwere held back home in NJ. How crazy (andviolent) it would get! Gotta love the Midwest!
Ok, I just read the clues. Seem pretty lame as usual. Its a wonder anyone found it. Although I suppose if you name the park and a few pretty visible landmarks, someone is bound to find it eventually. Glad they found it before the ice storm hit. And at least in the end I was in the right area and was finally right about something! (Going to try and forget this year ASAP!)
Meanwhile, I plan on doing another mock hunt, though I think maybe this year I will wait until after the Fitger's Bock hunt and do it late March. Although this year, I think we'll do it for real instead of virtually. There won't be any digging. Just the first person to figure out where its hidden and get ahold of it will be the winner. Since there won't be much of a prize, I don't want to make anyone work too hard. I'll be running it out of my club though since this board is way dead by then. With my club I have the option to send email to everyone to keep them updated. So if you have any interest in that, its not too late to join. if it goes well, we may even do more, though I don't want to promise too much as that's proven to be a problem in past years.
From the clues it sounds like it was hidden in the area by the mini golf, but I'm not quite sure where. I can't even picture some of the things they're talking about, like the old underpass or overpass or whatever the opening below was supposed to be.
thankfully caffeine doesn't do rubber chicken ceremonies :)

Schlett,I think it could be on 4 at noon...wasn't on 5.
That's strange??? My storm sirens are going off in my city (roseville), or at least were
DD, I just typed it wrong. I got it to work. Going there now.
That sock thing was the dumbest thing I've ever heard of! (I am so upset!) How will I ever break the news to my dog???
It was fun meeting everybody. What do we need to bring to the bash?

very lame coverage on channel 4, now
Just so that no one leaves here without putting this on your calendar...
Rehash bash - Sunday, February 4th - about noon at Como in the West Picnic Grounds.
It is a potluck affair. Bring a dish to share, something to eat off and your own beverages. It'll be a grand time!
Okay there was a blurb,,,,,,,,,on 5.
I seem to remember in past years sitting and watching, waiting for it to be on the news, and it never was.
...finally right about something! (Going to try and forget this year ASAP!)
Allison, you still had some great theories! We all did! I think we are all a wee bit more intelligent than the clue writer!LOL!
