2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

Dont think they would use a tide box because of it being so bright.

think that the clues were written a while ago so i dont think the amount of snow we have now matters

Palace is really tiny, i was out there last year and thought there was no way it could be there.

It won't be at Palace.

No No No, you are all thinking in the wrong spot. What does Time and Tide have in common? "High" High Time, High Tide. High Time is another way of saying high noon. Its where the sun is the highest point of the day. High tide is the highest water level. Which means what is the highest point in St Paul? The old Water Tower in Highland Park hidden in a knitted hat.

Hi Steve! You'll be happy to hear there were a lot of queries today about where to buy the Guide.

I was just telling fool where it is - he asked

no they write the clues close to when they are released because they said earlier something about the lack of snow this year

So far I think we know what we knew Saturday before the clues came out. Highland, Hidden Falls and Battle Creek are my favorites because there is enough space for us idiots to go and terrorize them.

Did you read the clues? For the cluewriters sake i hope they were written 10 minutes before the hunt began.

You'll want to stay away from the Water Towers...it will never be hidden up in that part of the park.

hopefully it's @ mounds because it is 2 blocks from home

A TIME TO KILL by John Grisham would be a typical clue for this paper-and Mississippi or the river named thereof logical.

But "time and tide" in another clue seem to offset it.or at least make me think of another reference for time besides the other one.The Longfellow poem guess is as good as any-but the word 'time'should be used in only one clue IMHO.

The flamingo is still on the eve of the fourth clue.

Agreed! It's too near the golf course.

I drove all around Battle Creek Park(s) today - really don't think it's there. Think about this - Como Park is Huge. I think you could hide it there 5 years in a row and never really be close to spots before, I hate to admit it but all the clues to date do fit como

I didnt mean look for it there, Im just saying the highest point in st paul is the old water tower. And youd want to stay away from the sledding hill because that is on the golf course. It all makes sense...wouldnt you all agree?

TRIP OVER THE GOODS- Maybe a subliminal type message that refers to trip as a set of 3, as in maybe you can see the neon 3M sign from the medallion. Certainly bodes well for the Battle Creek suggestions people are making

fool----never say never on 2 straight years. It might be the best way to throw people off. Como is still an option in my mind, no matter how much i don't think it is there.

There are no rules that say Como couldn't be the place two years in a row. Why not?

It's in a tide box or a knitted holder. We will be tripping over the goods soon because all of the snow will be gone if we continue to have warm weather like today.

Ya but I think the PP is smarter than this. I dont think its under the snow. They hid it under a max of 6 inches if that. And they can look ahead at the forecast and to tell ya the truth its going to upper 40's this weekend and rain. Bye bye snow.

the first clue is always so generic-it always says something about winter & then it just tells you if it's in st paul or ramsey co-the clues are written way before the hunt begins.

thought that it was a bit odd that they hid it there last year. they hid it there in 97 i think 4 years is too short of time. there are a lot of big parks that it has not been hidden in as much as como. such as phalen and mounds
