2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

Fool, are you talking about Indian Mounds Park?

Judging by past years, the 4th clue is really the one where a good clue decipherer can get a heads up on the competition. Last year's 4th clue was the east-west part of Como and also led you to the playground. So I think clues 1-3 are "almost meaningless" as far as park location goes(there is always something you can relate the park to AFTER the hunt, probably more by coincidence however). Tonight's clue should let the proverbial cat out of the bag so to speak. By the way-I think the cat is in a knitted white bag this year. hehe

DIGGERGIRL:I think it might be now-VERY GOOD.They often hide it inside another object.Once it was inside a White Castle box.

STRIKITRICH:Tha must be a helluva tide Lake Como has. I'm ruling out Como for the present-it's been there so often.

I think it is also in something knitted but not a bag, as in the clue it says brow, so Im thinking it a knitted hat, possibly a baby size one. Since the hat does cover your brows.

A battle like the Highlanders fought?

I also think that trip over the goods could mean that med is hidden inside of a log on the ground since no snow factor. Would be good clue that way

Cannot believe I have not heard a reference to Highland Park as of yet. Especially after Clue #2 refers to "knit" and "trek up"...My interpetation: Sottish knit and Star Trek..."beam me up"...who?...Sottie! of course.....now what is what is often referred to when we speak of Scotland? Their highlands....right? And where is the Scottish festival held each year? Highland!!! They have sliding hills there also...known for it! You are welcome!!!!

What does Time and Tide have in common? "High" High Time, High Tide. High Time is another way of saying high noon. Its where the sun is the highest point of the day. High tide is the highest water level. Which means what is the highest point in St Paul? The old Water Tower in Highland Park hidden in a knitted hat.

I didnt mean look for it there, Im just saying the highest point in st paul is the old water tower. And youd want to stay away from the sledding hill because that is on the golf course. It all makes sense...wouldnt you all agree?

Lady Loot, I hate to disagree, but if you haven't seen Highland mentioned numerous times here at the cooler, you haven't been here 5 minutes. It is by far in everyone's top 3 on this site. We just aren't sold on it yet, seems too obvious

Oh, don't worry about the people, they will come in DROVES when this years cocoa-mocha clue comes out. People by nature are lazy and don't want to do the dirty work. However, once they are certain, you will be lucky to find a spot to dig.
