Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

Man, ittiz a lllloooonnnngggg time til the 19th...
Allison - you're right about folks being the way they are. I'm very linear...and have to fight that tendency often in my work as most others aren't as linear as I am.
Green is about as opposite of linear as one can be. It's what she is.
So anyone want to talk about where it won't be? I think this time around it's a safe bet it won't be in Como again. I don't think it will be in Newell or Conway either just because they're too small and too recent to have a whole set of original clues written up about them.
HI... I'm still noodling that one. And, actually, Mounds... I've heard some pretty logical talk about Mounds o'late... I'm still chewing and digesting that...
of course, given that *last* year was the 50th anniversary of the hunt, we're looking at a whole new era in hunting. possibly pointing to a whole new park.
I like it best when it's in the city. Feels more like the city's festival that way. It's the St. Paul Winter Carnival...not the Ramsey County Winter Carnival.
But there's no written rules about where they might hide it.
It's a linear thought. Why go back to a park in the city when if you're going to go out to the county level, why not do that before going back to the big city park you were just at a few years before.
If they're using the whole county, they have a lot more hiding places they can use. If that have so many options, why go somewhere they were just at? Reusing Como so soon suggests they may have limited option, which would in turn imply they are not going outside of the city.
Of course some obscure little known park in the city could also keep the hunt going a long time. The Langford Park year, there were never more than a few hunters out there at any one time. I believe that was because it was so tucked away and unknown to people.
I've also been thinking Highland as it's a good place to hide the medallion when there's litte snow.
and i've seen how some of those disc golf courses are kept mowed. never been to highland to play, though. but that leads to an interesting question. would they even think about putting it on the disc golf course and risk damage to the real things?

Well, we'll take two or four. I've not decided yet.
And I WANT them THE 19TH!!!!!
(I hate waiting!)
There is a conspiracy. It involves spotters, people looking to take away guy cards, leftse, a leash, Mother Nature, and pink polka dots.
mother nature doesn't count as a conspiracy. that b*tch does what she wants, when she wants to.
and what's with the guy-card stealers being part of it :)
Allison - you're right about folks being the way they are. I'm very linear...and have to fight that tendency often in my work as most others aren't as linear as I am.
Green is about as opposite of linear as one can be. It's what she is.
You, Allison, are linear and deep.
Don't ask me, I have no clue how it all fits together.
Lefse...not leftse.
I always chuckle when conspiracy theories start being thrown around. I look at all that more as security for the hunt. Spotters and all.
that, terry, and they provide some interesting pre-hunt noodling.
Lefse, my bad. I usually don't spell it, just eat it.
Green - the plan is to have them by the 19th. If no conspiracy falls in the way, there will be the 5th annual commemorative button available.
Ares....if you count California Navel Oranges as pre-clue noodling! LOL!!!
whatever works, ter!
HOLY CROW! It WILL be The Fifth!!! Jeez-laweez! Seems like just last week...
Since I'm off (no comments about my rocker, you guys!) if you need anyone to drive/deliver/pick up or anything like that, just let me know.
JOE!!!
Joe!

I don't think ittiz gonna be at Phalen or Mounds.
HI... I'm still noodling that one. And, actually, Mounds... I've heard some pretty logical talk about Mounds o'late... I'm still chewing and digesting that...
In years past, often newly renovating/renovated places were used as hiding places. I believe that was to publicize the renewed park/public ground.
Using that theory, Harriet Island would have to be on the top of the list.
I love Mounds. I love the view. I love the way it's all laid out.
of course, given that *last* year was the 50th anniversary of the hunt, we're looking at a whole new era in hunting. possibly pointing to a whole new park.
The Med will NOT be on private property. Won't be up in a tree. Won't be on a golf course or drainage field. Won't be in Maplewood.
How's that?
Speaking o'Maplewood... Where in tarnation did WW get to???? He's not been around forever. Since his 'big' nite out...
which big nite out, green? i musta missed something
Probably working his scorched behind off during J term at school.
Ares - Will you be at McGovern's? Have we met before?
I don't think it will be out of the city either. I think if they were still doing that, they wouldn't have gone back to Como so soon.
as i told jt offline, whether or not i'm at mcgovern's depends on several as yet unknown factors. and no i don't believe we've met.
Ares, remember? He'd gotten his picture taken with... I can't remember the term he used, but I guessed a woman working at a "gentleman's" club.
Hope he's doing well so once the term's over he can devote himself to The Hunt.
I like it best when it's in the city. Feels more like the city's festival that way. It's the St. Paul Winter Carnival...not the Ramsey County Winter Carnival.

I hope it works out...either at McGovern's or the rehash bash when it's all over. I enjoy your contributions here.
Allison, I cann't see how that makes one whit o'sense! Just because they went bock to Como doesn't mean they won't head for the county this year!
I see no connection between the two.
yep. i remember hearing about that. :)
It's a linear thought. Why go back to a park in the city when if you're going to go out to the county level, why not do that before going back to the big city park you were just at a few years before.
Still makes no sense.
The answer is, "Because they wanted to." And by going bock to Como so soon, really threw a bunch o'folks off.
Joe!!!!

The answer is, "Because they wanted to."
sounds just like me. most of the time the only reason i need to do anything is "because i can".
And by going back to Como so soon, makes more sense to go out to the county this year.
Who'd think o'it?
There are actually a couple of really neat parks in North St. Paul (still Ramsey County) that I always wished they'd go to.
Oh.
Well... When you put it THAT way, Allison...
Geez! Makes a ton o'sense!
Lettuce see... Izz this linear?
Given that then, the limited options... HI is really moving up in the ranks...
How's THAT!
If they wanted more assurance of a longer hunt, they'd turn to the county parks as those are not as familiar to as many folks.
Perhaps they had it at Como because of the 50th anniversary? In line with celebrating the history, have it at a historical and well-known park?
Considering we are all clueless and in the dark, anything could and will probably happen.
I've also been thinking Highland as it's a good place to hide the medallion when there's little snow.
Understood that loud and clear, Ter... The longer hunt, out in the county, less known park.
As good a reason as any, Kids. Makes sense to me.
Actually, I think sumbuddy just flings a dart at a county map. Closest park to dart - that's where She be found!
JOE!!!

Maybe Allison was a year ahead o'himself last year! LOL!!!

And being the first hunt in '52 the medallion was found at Highland, there's some reason to think this '02 year could find it there again.
It wouldn't go on the actual golf course for sure.
There are many woodsy areas out there with lots of nooks and crannies.
Good gods, TERRY!!!
That was the most NON-LINEAR, double division, thinking I've heard! You'da thought *I* typed that!!!
JOE!!!!
thanks, ter. we had it pinpointed until you prompted mom p to move it. lol!
