2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

That's what I'm best at!

I think the way they choose the park may be similar to the way I do when I do the Mock Hunt. Just whichever park gives you some inspiration on one or two really cool clues you could write, and then you fill the rest in from there.

Green - I just now got your first email. Weird. What kinda non-linear stuff are you doing over there?

Highland was a fun hunt...more than once.

My all-time favorite clue from there had to do with the Pied Piper of Hamlin.

The usual, green non-lineal kind'a stuff! :D

Going fro for a bit... I think I've a tape worm, or else my bod's making up for this past summer when I'd go four or so days w/o eating. I've been RAVENOUS for like a week now and cannot get enuff to eat!!!!

Craving KFC... Gonna go get some, some Velveeta at Lem's, and gonna have KFC with Velveeta and Viet Nam sauce!!!! :D

It seems like it's been a while since it was at Highland. Wouldn't surprise me to see it there.

In spite of some muffed up feelings, I also really liked the hunt at the Capital Mall. It's so neat there in the shadows of the state capital dome, those gold horses, the downtown skyline....ahhhhhh...

Ms. Snowflake

Hi everybody my son just set me up with an account so that I can maybe add to the chatter this year. Over the past few years I've just read through the posts as a guest but haven't had the chance to noddle through the clues with you guys.

Amazing, isn't it?

I just betcha the Winter Carnival folks are glad they weren't planning an ice palace this year.

yeah for sure, that would of been a site to see!

One big puddle!

Remember the ice palace on Harriet Island? They were dealing with a January thaw after they had it built. They had to close the area around it because they were afraid of falling ice chunks or walls.

Yeah thats what my mom was just talking about, I remember that.

Fri, 01/11/2002 - 9:37 PM Permalink
Terry

In the olden days....hehehehehe

There was always a smaller version of the palace - usually made of snow blocks. Those were so much fun to see every year.

Bock.

KFC shut down/outta business. BUMMER!!! I want ORIG! So, went to Cub. Hot deli part shut down... Did get some tortellini pasta salad.

Checked out frozen foods - nuttin' there. Grabbed some Limburger and Velveeta and hit the meat dept. Got a bag o'frozen thighs.

Ran into an acquaintence and got a lead on a 40-hour week yob. Gonna look into that tomorrow. Hope they can wait until the second week o'February! LOL!!!

Glad you're home safe and sound, Usual. I was looking for you yesterday... Thanks much for humoring this clucky hen! :D

Welcome, Ms Flake!

whats your most useful Internet sites you use for the Medallion Hunt.

Trying to list all the good sites on my personal page

suspect, its a toss-up between this and the clue archive at http://www.coolercrew.com/ .

someone remind me this weekend to post the archive of last year's board on my web site. of course that's contingent on my dsl connection not being killed because of it :)

Suspect...there are also some good dictionary sites and anagram sites. Try a google search and you'll find tons of good sites that may help with noodling.

Thanks, Ter! Not the greatest o'jobs - retail... Deli work. But, I'd be working with the public, working with food, could maybe talk the deli mgr into letting me order some more different and better cheeses from around the world, and would be working with a young gentleman that I've kind'a become friends with. I'd go eat at this location when I was working one day/week at the bookstore and that's how I came to know him. Really sweet kid. He sold to me for $2.00 a green restaurant china plate... And I went in one day and he had two like custard cups for me that they'd gotten. They're red, but match the same pattern as the plate I bought from him. He gave them to me.

And, it would be a beginning. Would get me off the dole. Better'un a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!

The reality of all this is though that you have to get out there...look in the parks....keep your mind open to possibilities...and move snow, mud, whatever. You can't find it sitting at the putter.

Whoa!

I remember getting my buttinsky chewed out Royally (and well deservedly...) two, three years ago for using that word (as well as worser ones...) here...

It was brought to my attention that sometimes those of more tender years than yours truly frequent this Cooler...

Thought I mention that in passing.
