I'm working on a theory re. clue 5. I'm sure it's a cipher of some sort. It refers to when St. Paul made a great leap. I'm thinking, when St. Paul became capitol of MN, or became a city. One web site says St. Paul became capitol of MN in 1847, Another web site says St. Paul became capitol when MN was officially declared a territory on March 3rd 1849. Yet another website informs me that St. Paul wasn't officially incorperated as a city until 1854, when it had grown big enough. I think there's something here, I just don't see it yet. . .
If there is a cipher in #5, I've given up looking for it. I can't believe they would want to make a clue so tough that no one could get it. The clues kind of have to be aimed at the average reader. If no one has found one by now, chances are it's not there and we need to get some kind of different meaning out of it.
yeah, it stinks when someone's just out casually looking and finds it, not even really caring. I indeed hope it's someone at least who has spent some time and effort in trying to find it.
The long NOOOOO made the screen wide because it was all one word and there was no where to break it off. I imagine they programmed it that way so as to not cut off URL's.
Exactly Allison, if that many people have missed out on something in there, then we have all lost a step, or the clue writer is expecting way too much out of us. Cipher, shmipher...
Allison: you're half correct. URLs would make no difference if they were on one or many lines, the actual content of a URL is not fed to the browser with the displayed text.
By default, however, a single string will not be altered unless told to. WebX's arcane programming leads me to believe that this is the case here.
Other forums will permit a bit of leeway for long strings but will still hack it up after it exceeds a threshold.
I don't think anyone is going to accidentally find it at this point. If it were that easy to come across, it would have been found.
On another note, someone came up to me at Harriet Island today and asked me where I'd been and why I hadn't been around. At first I was confused, but then realized she must have still been on the PP message board. I guess not everyone made it over. Now if only I had some idea of who she was...
Yeah, I'm starting to agree with you Allison, about the difficulty of the cipher. now I'm staring to think it's a refference to 1849, when MN became a territory, or 1852, when MN became a state. Maybe those numers are important, or are addresses of houses you line up?
Well maybe that is what I had seen elsewhere. I've seen really long URL's that extend onto a second line, but the second line isn't included when you click on it and it ends up as a broken link.
Allison: it would have to have been from an external program (such as your e-mail client) that isn't made by design to parse URLs. Err, rather, I mean, the technology wasn't made by design to include links and your e-mail program tries its best to deal with it. However when the client that SENDS the mail decides to add linebreaks wherever it likes, it will break the URL.
I believe most browsers will delimit a string with a / or something, but this sufficiently off topic as it is. :)
If you cross over to the opposite side of Kellogg, you actually get a truly clear view of the Capitol with no skyways in the way. That made me think for a while it was on that side of the street. But at this point I don't think it's Kellogg anymore. Mostly because there's nowhere left to hide it there (there weren't many hiding places in the first place!).
I'd say the smart bet is to be down at Harriet tonight. If it's the right place, then there you are. If it turns out to be the wrong place, then everyone is in the same boat you are pretty much.
I could try to convince you it's at Harriet, but the clues really just aren't that convincing. I'd like to say it's somewhere more interesting, more exciting, more revolutionary and novel, but it's not. But it is at Harriet.
frosti, i'm driving a teal mercury mystique these days. well except for this week when i was driving a blue sebring becuase the mystique was in getting a new bumper put on from an incident a week and a half ago. of course yesterday in the snow, i proceeded to drive over a light pole at como with the rental.
Nice Rush Joe Frosti
Thanks! Great album!
Yeah, it's at scheffer.

aahh! What just happened to the board? Everything is like super wide. Is it just me or is everyone seeing it?
This bites!
And the purpose of that long no??
DD.. it was that long No post that messed it up.
Whew! Yeah! All better now. Thanks for making it 'normal' again. =)
I feel your pain. If someone does find it I hope it's one of us from the Cooler.
Rumors, rumors. No, it hasn't been found

We've got CLOWNS!!
Man am I hungry! I'm stuck at work until 7pm with nothing to munch on. Time to go "hunt" down some candy dishes...

Actually just one... the other one, is working right now, if I'm guessing correctly.

Is it still out there?

excellent point allison.
any thoughts on what time a body should go to the PP tonight?
The real question is should one go to the PP tonight or stay in the park when the clue comes out?
Is it still out there?
Last time I looked, no one was in Watson, so I presume so.
Well, I still think its at Eileen Weida.
Dunno about tonight, but tomorrow, as early as possible :)
By All, think I'll stop by harriet on my way home, just in case ;)
The real question is should one go to the PP tonight or stay in the park when the clue comes out?
That all depends on if you are in the "correct" park or not when the clue comes out.
im for mounds map guy
Unfortunately I'll have to meet the envoy already out there a little after midnight. Stupid late shifts.
All the clues point to Eileen Weida just as much as they point to anywhere else. Triple E, Wide as, Union Gospel Mission, etc...
i've edited the long nooooo post so that its shorter.
Still thinking Mounds?
I gotta give you credit East Side, staying strong in your park
And I think Watson park is still a good choice too.
thanks 2k3
Watson, Weida, Horseshoe, all still contenders. And don't forget Scheffer.
This is lurk time AW. You may want to join in the dissinformation fun.
I could try to convince you it's at Harriet, but the clues really just aren't that convincing. I'd like to say it's somewhere more interesting, more exciting, more revolutionary and novel, but it's not. But it is at Harriet.
East Side always wants it to be Mounds... he's a little nutty that way. hehe =)
oooh, I think i've had one too many chocolates (MOUNDS) from those candy dishes I found...
It's gotta be Scheffer, the news was there, the news never lies! right?
You get no credit for picking the park on the 10th day.
They amended the rules and now Watson is ruled out along with the Capitol Mall.
good luck allison

hi butter
Scheffer would be way tooooo convenient for us for it to be there...though that 30 second sound bite on the news sure was convincing, right?!? :-)
Como still fits for many of the clues.
