Morning, All....I want to be back at Como, but I'm stuck at work. Got home about 2:30 this morning after checkin' it out. My Dad was at Como before the clue came out and he said it was funny cuz all of a sudden about 11:30 all of these cars just started streamin' in....quite a sight. If it's not found by lunch, I may sneak away and do some more lookin'. Good luck, Coolerheads! :)

I was out at the site this morening as well.. Saw a few people that might be from here.. I mostly searched around where those two opposing wal structures at the back of the park near horton.. it's probably back there somewhere, but I ran outta time and hadta go to work. Good luck all

BTW, had a very insteresting thought this morning, I was piecing the clues together and thought about the shoe thing most other people have come up with from triple e (and maybe soul), and then I thought about the "Stick it where the sun don't shine" and came up with shoeshine... So I was out looking for a shoeshine can... didn't see any but I'm thinking possibly it's in one. Just in case I don't find it, wanted to get on record as having said that before it's found :)

I'm trying to work up the energy to go back out there and the ambition to go back to Como. How many people were searching Como before this last clue came out I wonder?

KC0GRN, I kinda had the same thought. I mentioned a while back that maybe it was in a shoe polish container...but I believe the EEE is the gate at Hamline/Midway (EE Engelberg)....

AW, I was never convinced it was at HI, but I wanted it to be at Como even less. That said, I had only been out there once before last nite.

Allison Wonderland

I can't say I was actually convinced it was there, but it seemed lik the place anyway. I couldn't find anywhere better, mostly because I refused to consider the possibility of Como, which makes me wonder if the cluwriter did that on purpose.

lol well.. great minds think alike there JQsGal :)

One of these years soon I'd like to have it back at phalen, I know that park like the back of my hand.

By next year I may be either gone or too busy. Neither is certain though.

KC0GRN

Allison, does that mean there might not be mock hunts?

Wed, 01/29/2003 - 9:05 AM Permalink
KC0GRN

Shoot, this summer I'm gonna get a GPS unit and do some geocaching :) Train for next years hunt, if anything I learned this year, it was that I was quite unprepared.

I guess it's a possibility that I wouldn't be doing them, though others have started having them also. Last year after mine jake did two and Marley King did one and now some others are itching to do one also. I'm still going to have one this year. I was thinking March, but the way this one is going, I wonder if I should wait until April maybe since people may end up being a bit burnt out.

If it's not found by late this afternoon, I can't wait to see the scene at PP tonight

Greets all, since we're down to the wire, I've taken it upon myself to configure an impartial LIVE CHAT FORUM for everyone to use. I suggest that everyone who would like to solve this thing in the most efficient way together give this a college try.

There isn't much action at the moment, but feel free to sit around and wait for people to show up and contribute.

Burnt out? Shoot, soon as it warms up a tad, I'm gonna start hittin the parks. Lack of knowledge of public areas won't hinder me next year :) If anything else, at least I'll be out doing something active.

Wed, 01/29/2003 - 9:29 AM Permalink
KC0GRN

No, me either Nancy, But I do want to get out there, last year after the hunt I had thought about doing so but never really did. This year I gotta have a bit more determination I think, but once I get started it'll be easier.

Though I don't think I'll be getting a THG real soon or anything, for now I'll just work off park maps. If I find having one would be handy, I might consider it then. I just want to free my mind a bit and look around at the parks, you never know when some little thing might be important.

Well if it makes you feel any better, marleyking who knows pretty much every part of every park because he's been going around taking pictures of them all was sitting at Harriet Island waiting for the clue to come out last night.

I suppose next year they'll put it at Merriam again.

You should have done the mock hunts KC. I learned about about some new parks while doing them and the one I ran last year actually was in Phalen.

So are people really saying that the view of the Capitol dome is on a sign and not the actual Capitol? If so, that's rather lame.

I doubt it would be before noon. I need it to warm up a bit at least. This cold air ir wreaking havoc with my asthma.

I needed a break from this morning too Allison, i have a class at noon, but I will be back out there at 1

I agree AW (about the cap dome). That is why I think it's across the street (near the pavillion and the waterfall) you can see the cap dome from the top of the hill. I took it that woodsy course may have meant the golf course. I dunno- just a hunch.

Wed, 01/29/2003 - 9:44 AM Permalink
KC0GRN

I should have Allison, but I only recently heard there was any :) Shoot, most of the year I had forgotten the coolercrew website addy, and even with a few search engine searches, I wasn't able to locate much at all about the medallion, it was almost as elusive as the actual thing itself is :)

Yeah I like Phalen, like I said I know it pretty good. I even vainly tried to fit this years clue with it but gave up when I couldn't make more than one or two fit it. It'd be great to see them hide it there again.

I know M2K3, I just hate huntin through all them woods, and the cap dome doesn't make sense to me.

Wed, 01/29/2003 - 9:49 AM Permalink
Med2k

Yeah, I don't see anything resembling a capitol dome either, and those woods have been picked through a lot, but theres a lot of leaves and sticks it could still be sitting under

I'm looking at a map of Como now and these clues are just all over the place. Or at least they seem to be. If clue 7 is really Eastabrook (not sure about that though) that's not anywhere near where people are looking now.

Wed, 01/29/2003 - 9:51 AM Permalink
lilslim

I agree AW, what do you think of zone 2?

Wed, 01/29/2003 - 9:55 AM Permalink
Matt

It seems to me like this might be a new breed of hunt. They might mean for it to go 12 clues, and by clue 12 the location won't be narrowed down to 10 square yards or so, but perhaps a block. I'm getting mixed feelings about the hunt going this far with so little actually known about the location. :(

Oh well.

It looks to me like it's in Zone 4 of the guide. You have to cross over Horton from the sculptures, but stay away from the area by the pool. Instead go somewhere closer to the gate on Midway and Hamline where you can see the Conservatory, the Carousel, and the picnic area. There are lots of woods there also.

Wed, 01/29/2003 - 9:58 AM Permalink
Matt

Hmm. I just can't put my finger on where it could be. If it really were just "a little away from the pool, across the street from the sculptures" and that street was horton, it would have to have been found by now. I walked that area thoroughly and while it's going to be more or less Really Hard to tell if it's been properly searched (dry powder and leaves, it all looks the same as when you first touched it), I think it would have been happened across by now.

What else is left? Beulah? Bueller? ..... Bueller?
