During the year the ice palace was on Harriet Island, there were some pictures of the fireworks over the palace with the capitol in the background. It may have been a doctored photo, but I am almost certain of the dome in the back.

I've been cruising the cooler crew site, checking out the wording of the clues from years' past. We (myself included) always seem to think so much of the all important "St. Paul" or "Ramsey County" clue. Many times, the clue said "Ramsey County" but yet the park it was hidden in was within the city limits.

The one year neither city nor county was mentioned.....1987 - Mounds. :)

I will have to go down to Harriet....it seems that you *should* be able to see the dome, but with the buildings from downtown in the way - I dunno.

Yes, if you look down one of the streets towards the Wabasha end, you get a direct view of the Capitol from Kellogg.

With the first clue saying "Faith be anew", it could actually mean both domes are in view.

The medallions real home is the Pioneer Press. It is in Pioneer Press Park, says right here on page 324 in my deluxe edition Hunters Guide.

Does anyone know if you can actually see the dome from Highland or was that just speculation. I was at Highland this summer trying to see the 1 on the 1st National Bank building and I couldn't see it from the bridge or anywhere else, so I'm doubting you can see the Capitol. But then again that was this summer when there were a lot of leaves on the trees.

During the summer you can't see hardly anything from Cherokee either. The winter makes a big difference.

I am wondering what parks outside the city limits you can see the capitol from. There has got to be parks in Maplewood and perhaps Roseville that have a view of the dome.

Also, does the high side of Phalen have a view of the dome?

If you take the Space Needle up to the top at the Fair Grounds you can see everthing in both clues!

Okay, so I went to Highland on my way back home. On the northern end of the bridge, I wasn't sure if I was seeing the capitol or not. I think I may have been. But it's not very clear, if it is. I doubt that you could from the south part of the bridge, but you might be able to.

Well, guys. Tomorrow is not a holiday for me and so I must get up in about four hours. Gonna get under the blankets before I stay up all night :)

Keep noodling....the list is getting longer. I sure hope this hunt lasts more than a few days.

Goodnight and Sweet Cooler Dreams.

I don't believe you can see the Capitol from Linwood. It's facing the wrong way. And even from the top, you don't really get a view of downtown.

Battle Creek could still be a possibility, even the Maplewood portion, because it is a regional park and not a city of Maplewood park. Thus the city of Maplewood wouldn't have much to say about it if it were there. Not saying that it is though.
