and when it is found, we meet at mcgovern's instead and drown our sorrows that the addiction will have to be put on hold for another year.

Good Morning!

I have NO idea what I'm doing up - not going to be able to think straight at work today - welcome to medallion hunt time!

The parks I'm liking so far, without having driven them yet are:

Mounds
Cherokee
Swede Hollow
Battle Creek
Highland
MLK

in no particular order. There are probably a number of small ones to be checked out after work, too, but I haven't narrowed those down yet. It'll all depend on how long I can keep the kids happy driving around.

The espresso is brewed (I've been using it in the regular coffee maker), I'll keep whatever's left warm for those who'll be waking up AFTER THE SUN.

Butter and chocolate croissants and fresh blueberry muffins are in the basket.

Have a great day, all. Happy hunting!

and try to take it easy on those of us that are gonna have to slog this afternoon :)

Good morning everyone. I'm checking out swede hollow in about 5 minutes. I'll slog later.

Well, I guess its in St. Paul. The clue limits the options to much. May not be a long hunt.

Good Morning!!!

Doncha just love Mondays when there's a holiday?!?!

I dreamt last night that I was in a park I had never been before with just the dome of the capital peaking out between/over the trees and reached down to pick something up to check it out - and then I woke up! It was so excited cuz I was sure it was there....but now I'll never know.

Well I just got back from swede hollow. I have a clear veiw of the dome and peeking around. What's that? A hollow tree? Theres a plastic bag inside!! Something metallic looking inside! It's a paint sniffers bag with gold paint inside! Bummer. Whats that next to it? Oh great, a used hypodermic needle! Ok, lets try down here then. Hmm. a funny looking pile of sticks over there. Let's see...some thing under here! A pink towel with something wrapped up in it! Let's see......
A DEAD CAT!! Ok I'm home now.
Be careful out there! You may find more than you bargained for.

Hey ChrisDigger - Tell Tyler that mrmnmikey has found the best junk this year.

mrmnmikey

Hypodermic needles??

My guess is it's a misdirection clue meant to send you to a park where one can obviously see the dome when maybe it's really at a park where you actually wouldn't think you could see it.

JQsGal

therecanbeonlyone (wow! what's an abbreviation for that??? how come the word to shorten words is 12 letters long? anyway, I digress)
Is it possible it's the cluewriter's way of telling us it's in St Paul, moreso than a suburb??? just noodlin'....

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 8:12 AM Permalink
mrmnmikey

I agree AW. I'm thinking it's the first land mark on the path. Maybe a nearby park to swede hollow. or one you can see from there.

tcboo?

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 8:18 AM Permalink

Thats what Artemis was thinking something like that!!

She said maybe you need to be in a park you can see the dome at like cass gilbert and you will see a clear view of the PARK you should be at!

Marleyking

hmmm Snail lake I was there yesterday!!

you can see the dome!

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 8:20 AM Permalink
mrmnmikey

At swede hollow there's only really one clearing on top of the hill where the trees arn't in the way for a "clear veiw"

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 8:22 AM Permalink
mrmnmikey

I should really check my spellin!

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 8:24 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

I think it's just trying to say you can see the capitol dome from the park, but not from the hiding spot, so that people don't complain later about how they couldn't see the dome from "the spot".

I don't even know where that is.

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 8:27 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

I see the picture, but I still don't know where it is. Are you sure it's Ramsey County?

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 8:32 AM Permalink
mrmnmikey

odd start indeed. last time they started like this the medallion was in battle creek.

The battlecreek clues spelled out the name. Todays clue starts with S..Swede?

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 8:32 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Ok, so now I see Snail Lake is in Shoreview. How the heck can you see the capitol from Shoreview? And what would make you go way up there?

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 8:36 AM Permalink
Marleyking

Yes Aw its in Ramsey County its off of 694 and victoria! You can see it when you are on 694! Huge park ! But I dont think its there! Nothing but TALL grass and weeds there! It would be s good spot however!

By the drain pipe at como?

Taking pictures of ALL ramsey county parks ! thats what I was doing up there ! Jake ?

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 8:38 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Well then to answer Snake's question, I don't like it, but it does seem like the sort of place Jake would go look.
