The cooler crew is an online community that is made up of folks with a commonality
that involves gathering in parks in the dead of the winter and because we have this
obsession in common, we find other parts of us that have commonality too. - TerryV
Who goes to a picnic in February?
The Re-Hash Bash is always open to all Diggers, Hunters, Clue-Writers and Lurkers. Discuss the Medallion Hunt, and have a good time with those of like obsession. It's a great time! The Re-Hash Bash is a family affair. Spouses and kids (even toddlers) are more than welcome! Come early, stay late and eat, then eat some more. It's a potluck deal. It really is a fun time. It helps bring closure to the hunt for the year.
Another fantastic get together!

The CoolerHeads are a group of people who participate in the
Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt during Winter Carnival .
The Bash began in 1998 at Cherokee Park. It is always on the Sunday after the Medallion is found, and is held at the location where it was found. The link above is where all the clues were analyzed (over-analyzed !), accepted, rejected, discussed.
What you need to bring.....
- Bring a dish to share: dessert, salad, hot dish, whatever you like.
- Bring your own drinks.
- Bring your own plates, cups and utensils.
- There will be a fire. logs are needed !
- Check the forecast, but come prepared for "changing" weather.
- There have been gas stoves and charcoal grills in the past.
WILL WE SEE YOU THERE??
Thank you
I just wish I could have made it on time. I can never seem to do that for some reason. I'd love to see the group picture you guys took early on. Who took them?
Nice seeing all of you again. You people truly rock!! I do want to apologize if I seemed a BIT dazed yesterday but my brain still needs time to recoup since it's been preoccupied lately. Focus Danielson, focus.
Looking forward to the get-togethers later this year.

Hey Ian - What's the story with your avatar?
[Edited by on Feb 7, 2005 at 11:42am.]
And like Redbear.. some of us will be having a weekly or bi-weekly game night :) I really think we should do more throughout the year and stay in touch more!! Maybe once a week meeting at a different place for a get together.
Sorry we missed you CM dawg was getting cold and we needed to go get the baby.
No Ian, you didn't miss anything! Of course you will be invited silly! We were talking about doing it in June, so no formal invites have been mailed out yet.:)
You could also have a 4 person dart team...that competes in a bar league...and have fillers as you need them....

I might do bowling - probably wouldn't do darts
Bear - in for darts.
I'd go for bowling, but I think I'd have to show some proof of the ability to improve my game....
no one needs to be a pro at anything-
well, almost anything ;)
the cooler crew would play against the cooler crew- this would be an inner league- not playing against people we dont know.
I used to play darts all the time but have to work evenings now ;-(

mixed? nice
and I dont know what day of the week this may be- maybe a weekend day OR night. we'll see- we got time to figure it out.
bowl but i don't dart...at least not very well...well let's face it i suck at both but the company is what counts. either way i'm a better bowler than darter. lol.
Im down for either.... although I'd prefer Bowling... it's fun and very addicting (my mom has been bowling on leagues since before I was born, and so does my step dad).... plus, it'd give me a reason to finally get one of those kick ass bowling shirts that ive always thought were cool (yes, im a dork)
Nick.... did you say Cooler Crew bowling shirts? :)
[Edited by on Feb 7, 2005 at 05:03pm.]
bowling shirts rock!
I used to wear bowling shirts when I was in Jr. High.
They don't even call them Jr High anymore. Now they're "Middle School".
That's how long ago that was.
went to middle school and junior high?! hrm. i must have been in that mixed up stage in the school district divisionary scheme?!
In Ft. Lauderdale there was no such thing as Jr. High. It was always middle school!! Say you grew up there and then noone can use that to age you:)
I don't get what you mean, cocorosie.

You want me to say I'm from FL?
I'd rather admit my age.
:-)
Not just florida...Ft Lauderdale!!! Come on....it is a great place. Sun, booze, parties!!!
I went to middle school (Battle Creek) but still refer to it as Junior High anyways....

Orlando had the Mouse but no Medallion so I pick Minnesota.
middle school was 6 and 7 grade and junior high was 8 and 9 grade for me two different schools!
Oh. See, when I was a young whipper snapper, there was no such thing as middle school, and Jr High was 7th & 8th grade.

Oh yeah, I need that. I'm shy, so I don't like parties much. I got four abnormal kindeys. And have you seen how pale I am? Much less seeing my pale ass in a bathing suit?
I think I'll stay here in MN and admit that I'm 37.

damn you really are old:):)
kidding:)
I always thought middle school was 6,7,8 and junior high was 7,8,9 and you had either one or the other but that was just my experience. I moved from a district that had middle school to a district that had junior high between 5th and 6th grades so I got to be the big kid on campus twice in a row, that was pretty sweet.
THX is old but he hides it well!
we are in for either if it ends up being weekdays, if its on a weekend day we won't cuz we are up at the camper from the end of april till the first part of october.

So many good taglines today.
Ditto what LL said as far as day of the week. Although, I know Flaherty's was running some every other Sunday leagues this past fall. Emily and I bowled together a while back and were considering one that was every other Sunday afternoon - this one was at like 4:00.... I thought it would be too much trouble with running back and forth from up north, but the reality is, I'm usually in a hurry to get back to the cities to get ready for Monday anyway.
I've never done darts, but I don't expect I'd be very good. I'm not a very good bowler, either.....but I have fun!
I'd try to make it work regardless of what day(s) we got, but early weekday evenings would probably work best for me.
Bowling. I suck at it, but I no longer throw the ball on peoples feet.
Okay, for me, K-8 was grade school and 9-12 was high school. The Catholics finally kept something simple!
And just when you thought I was done:
Whats with all the boys talking fashion in here lately? Their even into shoes and hats...too much time down in Crosby?
HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!
I just spent the past hour and a half slogging, and then see your post! Best thing I've read all night!
Middle School is now 6-8th grades, a lot of grade schools still go up to 6th grade, going to 6th grade at a middle school is just an option. Highschool is 9-12th grades.
I went to Jr. High - 7 through 9th grade.
I prefer weekday nights; how far away in Arden Hills? I am allergic to suburbs.
Does that mean you will never come visit us? We are as suburban as it gets before farm land:)
Gawd... it's almost 10 yrs since I graduated....scary... VERY scary...
lol yeah and leela I'm just up in White Boy..I mean White Bear Lake... which is.. close enough to get to the cities.. but far enough away from the ghetto... so it's not THAT bad :D
I don't want to think how long it's been since I graduated.Â
My 20 is this year.
Not sure what you mean by the ghetto. I am a city girl; there is no place in St. Paul or Mpls that is particularly dangerous.
Pay Me, for you I will drive to the suburbs (well, maybe for Tommy and Joey).
Maple Grove is funny in the fact that it's one of the fastest growing cities in the state yet we have farms just down the road.
The pumpkin patch is cool too.
hehe....The boys miss their grown up flashing friend.
Tim..not to worry Joey asks when he can go sledding with you once an hour.
Flaherty's (if that's even where we wind up) is on Snelling & County Rd. E.Â
Not too far from Rosedale (just north of Room & Board) or the SuperTarget in Shoreview.
There are a few decent lanes in the city too.Â
I went to a K-12 private school through 9th grade....so I never got to experience middle school OR junior high
<sigh>. And it was longer ago than I'd care to admit!
That's close enough. I just didn't want to drive all over creation if I do this.
Really. Wow, I can't picture it. Anyway, did you know an elderly lady got hit by a car at that intersection, I think yesterday? She died. I guess she wasn't at the Xwalk. I know that is one of the most dangerous intersections in the city.
the Midway Bowl. It's closer to Rainbow in the Midway Shopping Center.
