We were tring to figure out where the 1957 med was and they said it was on a plat called 'sherwood" in st paul. I think we settled on where it was after mr medhunter enlightened us. Thanks anyways.

Wow only a buck? what a deal!

That was probably a lot of dough in 1917. A paltry 3% inflation rate would make one button cost $13.48 today.

Damn... that 1886 coin ia up to 177.00

Yeah,

I'm going to let this one go. Hopefully another one will come along.

I didn't even bother.

I was gonna bid on it for Scribe, but by the time I got around to it, it was already way up there.

Oh crap - it's up to 201.00

If you can't get 2, you might as well sell the one. Offer yours to the runner up bidder for a little less than this one goes for.

Hell no.

Right now it belongs to the Firestone Estate.

I'm still looking to get one myself, but at 200 bucks, I'll just wait for a better deal down the road. Wonder if antique shops would have any of the older ones (sometimes they might not know they'd get such a great price for em on ebay)

Bad time of year to be shopping for that kind of stuff, I'd think. Probably get decent deals in July.

tim_the_hunter

Otis was saying thats the only 2nd time one has been on ebay in like 3 years. But for the other more common ones, that is true.

KC0GRN

also the off season you don't tend to see many winter carnival buttons pop up on ebay (I set it up so ebay emails me when new wc stuff is listed, didn't see much all summer).

Gotta hand it to the sellers though, they're smart enough to sell the stuff when it's more sought after.

If I had the cash I would grab it.

It's not about the money. It's about having it for my boys.

...hmmm.....any hunts going on??

I need some extra cash 2.

OTiS

I've been looking. Haven't found any though.
Tue, 12/13/2005 - 10:19 AM Permalink
KC0GRN

well shoot I'd like to have one, but I just figure I can get a better deal sometime. Trouble is I gotta compete with the rest of you to get one :pbpt:
Tue, 12/13/2005 - 10:23 AM Permalink
KITCH

I should buy it and hide it...

How much can I get for a pepper geocoin?
Tue, 12/13/2005 - 10:25 AM Permalink
OTiS

I promise after I get the second one I won't go for anymore. That is unless someone happens to have an 1887 or something I would use the extra 1886 to barter for :pbpt:
Tue, 12/13/2005 - 10:25 AM Permalink
KC0GRN

hahaha. Actually that 1886 would make a nice runner up prize for the second person to find the medallion's location.

Wonder if it'd be just as smart to get a metal detector and go wander around and see if I can find one that way (heck a metal detector would probably be cheaper than what it's going for anyway).
Tue, 12/13/2005 - 10:28 AM Permalink
Redbear

Yeah, that's the flip side, someone who has the good stuff doesn't necessarily sell it in july.

Here's a hunt for you. I'm trying to find a place that still has the NFL electric football game in stock. The one that vibrates and the little players move across the field. I don't want the one with the red and yellow players. I want the one where you can pick the team colors for your players.
Tue, 12/13/2005 - 10:55 AM Permalink

That's the problem I'm running into. I started shopping for this in early November and haven't lucked out yet. One place will email me when they're back in stock, but it's getting late for that now. :frown:

Thanks.

what stores are they sold in OT? I'd be happy to look out here.
Tue, 12/13/2005 - 11:03 AM Permalink
OT

That's the problem. I haven't found a store that sells them. I've looked at toy stores and sporting goods stores and no luck. I've only seen them online and on ebay, but people are paying way to much on ebay for them.

Thanks for the offer. Oh, and by the way, it's for the same grandson who got the Sports Illustrated. He's a HUGE sports fan. He's like a sports maven. He went to a Vikings game with his Dad a couple of games ago, and on the way home in the Vikingmobile, the guys were quizzing him on players, teams, etc, and he knew it all! He's all of 7 years old.

did I somewhere miss the link to what the thingy looks like?

I saw it the other day at Target out here.

A GREAT place if you are ever looking for any of the cranium games is Starbucks. They usually have 3 -4 different ones and they aren't marked up any more than say at Target or something.

Tatergirl

Shoot, I was going to get Mad Gab for my sister. Target.com, amazon and Games by James have it listed as out of stock.

Let me know if you find any.

We always play "reindeer games" after all the hoopla is over on Christmas. It was fun until a couple of years ago when all they want to play is Texas Hold Em. :frown:

Pay Me, They have 121 Mad Gabs on ebay, most are new factory sealed. Most are $21-36

Im going by Target West St paul today or tomorrow- I'll let you know about mad gabs cause Im looking for it also.

KC- at least one of the bidders on that coin OWNS an antique store here in St Paul. There are 2 that I know of that bid and buy on ebay and sell at a higher markup at their shops for Winter Carnival stuff.

Scribe knows about them too!

eh, I'll just invest in a metal detector then, gotta be a few of those in the ground somewhere in the city limits.

I would really hate to see the mark up on something like that.

Okay. I was out at Battle Creek last night checking out Medallion locations, need some help on the 95 one (in case anyone remembers that hunt?).

Here's a google earth image of the location. I marked two possible spots, but don't know if either one is correct. I also marked where the picnic pavillion is because it's kind of hard to see. Anyone have any insight on this? The clues said to go 75 paces west southwest from the pavillion, but that would put it almost exactly along the cross country ski trail.

It's kinda hard to tell the topography of the map but I know it was on top of the hill. So I'm thinking more along your first choice.

I'm having a hard time finding them on ebay as it is.
