It's hard to say its anything else right now. could the beasts exposed be what it is hidden in? a deck of cards with the lions on the exterior of the box?
Ok done slogging thru 300 post since this morning.
My first thought was fricken-A it's at Como. But then my skeptical side came out and thought well that only of you interpret bower enclosed as the conservatory and beast exposed as the zoo and fun and frolic as the amusement park.
But I do think the first part means there are many different sports that can be played there. So that would eliminate the smaller or more natural parks.
I think there are strong arguements for como, phalen and BC -- I'm putting Swede and Kellogg away for now.
I'm out of ideas. I can't help but think it's referring to some folk story or something and we're suppose to get a name out of that. Anyone at the press run off to any parks or was it another "ah, fuck it lets go drink more" night?
I just hope the explantion for "beasts exposed" isn't - there are woods with wild animals like that retarded "look to the buck for good luck" clue from last year.
I'm starting to consider Ramsey County fairgrounds up by Aldrich Arena, Goodrich Golf, and Mplwd City Hall, cop shop, Community Center, new courthouse, and Gateway Trail.
Bring to Fore- Goodrich Golf
Old barn is site of Halloween fest - No Fear
Still do 4-H there. Pig , chick, leash references
Old potter's (destitute people) cemetary recently re-dedicated-ie) "remains" and history is mystery (to most people anyhow).
Native plantting restoration- all we see was done naturally
Detention- new courthouse facility
All sorts play sports- horseshoe pits by White Bear Ave and MPLWD community Center nearby
Harbor of impressive arbor- little pond surrounded by tress and walking path
Water and Ice- indoor pool and frozen water pond
I just can't figure out how to link "bower enclosed and beasts exposed" to fit this site....
thanks Tates! I'm workin on it...with a little help from my friends! + my sis will drive home as she is kind of a "soda" girl...
They always reference street names, it's just a matter of which clues are referring to streets vs what's it hidden in etc.
I think devoting it to Boxmeyer is simply stating it's in Saint Paul because that's what he was all about. I also think they could use some of his tactic such as red herrings or using some of his previous clues.
I was just looking up funny names of streets that go near or in parks. The street name that lead me to the article is Nusbaumer Drive in Como (which is also spelled Nausbaumer) and wanting to know who Otto Hummer was (Highland)..
Have we discussed bower as in a card game? I know nothing about cards so don't know anything about that. There's a guy over at the PP board who's a good noodler.
We recently converted our old portable building from a school room into a craft room for Emma. Her projects were taking over the house. We had referred to the building as "the schoolroom" for so long, though, that it was hard to stop. Finally, I asked Emma what she wanted to call it. She thought for a moment and said, "Call it my bower,".
"What is a bower?" I asked.
"It's a room in a castle where ladies go to sew, spin, and weave," she said.
I copied this definition from Webster's online. (I think.)
Main Entry: 1bow·er
Pronunciation: \ˈbau̇(-ə)r\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English bour dwelling, from Old English būr; akin to Old English & Old High German būan to dwell, Old English bēon to be — more at be
Date: before 12th century
1 : an attractive dwelling or retreat
2 : a lady's private apartment in a medieval hall or castle
3 : a shelter (as in a garden) made with tree boughs or vines twined together : arbor
— bow·ery \-ē\ adjective
So far Emma has her loom, spinning wheel, serger, sewing machine, ironing board, and work table in her bower. She also has one of those tables that conceals four chairs inside a cabinet. You can keep the table folded up and out of the way or open it, set your four chairs out, and host a tea party. This is Emma's plan.
Upstairs is a loft retreat, in case bower life gets too stressful.
Tuesday we bought three garlands of various flowers to decorate the windows. Yesterday Emma went with our friend Lee to a class at the Crosby Community Center and learned how to paint stepping stones to look like flowers. She will paint a whole series of them leading up to her bower porch.
lots of people coming & going.... I wonder when the cops will show up, and if they'll be nicer than Roseville....
Maplewood, yuck.... <shivers>
Im convinced its out there someplace...
although, after splitting nearly 21 hours today between Battle Creek, Phalen and Swede Hollow - that may just be whatever energy I have left, talking...
I dont think I'll be downtown for the next clue, as Carolyn couldnt get outta work early enough.... but I'll be out in the park, when she gets home...
Im going to get some food, and atleast a couple hours of sleep.... because from tomorrow until either I or somebody else picks it up, I wont be leaving the park, unless im going to get the clue...
it's interesting how many people are convinced it's at BC... not me... maybe just wishful thinking though, probably my least favorite park to try to hunt in
I kinda like the Maplewood angle with the Ramsey County fairgrounds, it is public land and there's tons of parking over there by Aldrich arena
Nice noodle about the "Sweet Land" movie, but it seems like alot of connections to make
gonna be spendin alot of time in the parks over the coming days, so far we've only spent 2 or 3 hours out mostly scouting... probably spend the majority of the day tomorrow at Phalen and possibly Harriet / Como
TC dot com is screwed up, and I dont have a clue posted here in the the clue thread. CAN WE HAVE ONE OF THE FIVE MODERATORS POST THE CLUES IN THE CLUE DISCUSSION!!! at least within a few hours??? PALEEEZZEEE!!
Also, stuff makes me think of Circus Juventas.. isn't that near Highland?
OH, and HI!
:ooh:

it could just be saying where would you bring your kid to cheer them up?
zoo? circus? they both fit
no real good explanation for beasts exposed at BC unless they are referring to dogs as beasts.

Search for Stroll St. Paul History..
Box wrote the forward to a re-release of a 1975 book, The Street Where You Live. A book about the history and mystery behind St. Paul Street names.
Could they be really focusing on street names in there dedication to Box?
I think my mom has that book, if not, I am oging to try to nab a copy for myself (seems like on of those things a hunter should have anyway).

I'll have to think on this one to fit it either to Kellogg or Swede Hollow. Ha ha ha ha
It was filmed in Chippewa County Minnesota.
Chippewa Supply company is at 1145 Homer Street
right by Highland Park
