There is some Coleman tribute when he was Mayor over at Harriet. His name is on a list as Mayor on a plaque there. In THG. SO I am waiting for the same thing...
You know, when you just concentrate on the word box, all I can think of that would relate to that one word would be a sand box / park with a playground
Fun and Frolic bugged the heck outa me earlier today and then it hit me where I saw it before. on a winter carnival button. MedHunter looked it up and sure enough the 1965 button says "fun and frolics"
I washoping it was give some stupid park that none of the clues fit, like Wakefield or something...but nnnnooooooo, it had to be a year it was hidden in COMO.
from the "you know you are a medallion hunter" file...
You know you're a medallion hunter when... you return home from work and one of the tabs on firefox is open to the "Cholic acid" Wikipedia entry and you know exactly why.
Andrea - the short way into the BC dog park is to park on Hillsdale, just off of McKnight. You can park on the street. Then you cross four lanes of traffic and there is a short, flat trail right to a side entrance. You can park in the regular lot off of Lower Afton Rd, and follow the signs as you hike up and down and icy hill, and get your car broken into. Your choice. If you park in Lower Afton lot, be sure to stay leashed until you get to the sign for the dog park. People are getting tickets for unleashing too early. It's a sore spot with the skiiers and hikers. There is also a lot on the south side of Upper Afton Rd, but the walk to the dog park area is longer, and not as well-marked.
Because I want to look at his first clues and proceeding clues trying to figure out his pattern of when he gives us pointers. We can pick all 5 clues and name 5 different parks from them alone, one for each clue.
MrTom, to me, these are not sounding like Boxmeyer/Millet Clues. They used to put literary references, movie references ("Rosebud") into their Clues. They really had folks LEARNING. They put their whole heart and soul into the Clues and Hunt... And then sat and laughed at us, gave us a big hint, then a big red herring.
They were the best. They were buds of our in their feeling of the Hunt, it's meaning, it's purpose and how it should go.
These are just typical stupid Clues like recent years. Blah, blah, blah on the park... And then it's only narrowed down on Clue 11, possibly 10, or 12 and it's a made dash.
That's not Treasure Hunt. That's a friggin' foot race.
We got used to anagrams, lining things up, finding double meangs and digging deeper than what a Clue would suggest on the surface when it was The Dynamic Duo. Have we had and anagram since 2001 or before?
Lettuce say Millett did write this year's Clues and the Hunt was dedicated to Don - maybe even using Clues he'd written in years past for a particular park. Would we be able to handle it?
What I mean is it took me quite a few years to 'go to the dark side' and realize the Clues were being written differently and basically were 'lazy' Clues from someone that really didn't have their heart into The Hunt the way The Dynamic Duo did.
If Boxmeyer - or Millett on Don's behalf - wrote the Clues this year I'm not sure I'd any longer be able to pick up on the nuances, double meanings and ingenuity of their Clues.
I'm now used to lazy, stupid clues. I don't have to line anything up. I don't have to have an appreciation for the arts, history or anything but landmarks in/around where the Med's hidden.
Just gotta use my eyes and feet - should I decide to join the mass and risk bodily injury.
Thinking about Como and how "sweet land" might fit. Jessamine Ave runs along McMurray field and here's part of a definition of the Jessamine plant:"One of the most notable characteristics of the plant is the fragrant flowers that send a sweet, prevailing scent through the wintery woods." Granted, that would be the woods in Florida. Just a thought.
I was digging with Jake for about an hour. Before that my mom said she saw about 12 people digging randomly here and there. No-one digging aggressively.
Didn't do much digging today mainly more scouting, only saw a few people here and there which surprised me since it's supposed to be getting alot colder... guess it's a testament to how these clues have people EVERYWHERE right now
So about 30 minutes after you left I came across a near perfect rectangle of ice frozen to the ground. Jake and I carefully chipped away. It turned out to be dog piss. :barf:
They let you keep it then. My mom has it. He was gonna gop over with me and was gonna let him photograph it with the original news clips for the week (You used to be a hero when you found this stuff, was big news then). But today was the last chance he'd have had since she is going to Jamaica tomorrow...

Might be in better hands with Nimrod that some other nimrod out there poking around!

Would be awful funny if an entire line of the clue was somehow entered to be quoted in something there...
the course to be followed by an aircraft in approaching for a landing or in joining a traffic pattern

I so miss The Dynamic Duo. So much.
Hoping its not really at Como.
Its hard to ignore the fun & frolic that me2 came up with along with the exposed beasts. Hopefully tonight can settle which park its at.
opps - sorry jake. hi.
besides he'd have photos of his find on there the lucite puck as well.
My noodle may still be good, but wrong park. Or, as is usual, I couldn't fimd my patoot with both hands.
I'll continue to stick with my noodling. And it's not at coNo as it's not something I can accept. Crapin' lazy Clue Writers.
Will have to check Phalen.
I hate this time o'year. I LOVE THIS TIME O'YEAR!
I've gotta wait for Carolyn to get home from work... probably at around midnight - 1:00...
then Im heading out to hunt, if anyone plans on being out tonight....
