Submitted by THX 1138 on

Welcome to the 5th Annual Allison Wonderland Mock Hunt!

The treasure was found just before 9am on Wednesday, March 10th, by Me2. She will get a prize around $290 plus a variety of other goodies. It was found in Marydale Park on the north side in a pit under a tree near lamp post #12.

The wrap up party will be Saturday, March 13th at 8pm at Fabulous Fern's.

Hmmmmm. Does that mean we're in Wonderland and not Through the Looking Glass?

In Through The Looking Glass, books are written in Jabberwocky, or backwards.

from a site i found today...There have been many different spellings of the word Cherokee throughout history and by people of other cultures. Some visitors have even speculated that it is a name given by another Native people, meaning “Cave People” or “People of a Different Tongue.”

hmmm "people of a differnt tongue" = jabberwocky??

I'm going with the cherokee idea for now...

blasphemy M2K! I'm just glad that one of the rules for these mock hunts is that it can't be in Como.

Amen to that.

Funny, I don't remember making that rule this year.

Clue #2

Alice’s adventure had begun before she saw the rabbit run,
In an outdoor setting having some biscuits and tea.
Go now and don’t be late for your very important date.
Dining and cooking you’ll find figure most prominently.

And the previous clue:

Clue #1.

Only those with habits like chasing white rabbits
Look in Wonderland trying to find this treasure, alas.
Vanished is the Cheshire Cat. Which park could he be at?
You might start with a peek through the looking glass.

The queen's tea party. Now we're back to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Alice was sitting on a bank while her sister read a book.

Think of it as a screenplay. We're not following the book exactly. :-P

Looks like the tea party was with the March Hare, the Hatter and the Dormouse, not the queen.

Ok then. There's a picnic area nearby.

A park with some built in grills

Or, the hero in the Rabbit books was a high school basketball star. Harry Angstrom.

Rabbit Run takes place in the 1950's.

Just thought of something. Maybe we're supposed to be thinking the opposite of what the clues say? I wish I had a "for instance". Maybe instead of UpDike, I should be thinking Down River? Face it, I'm a crazy lady.

There was something about today that made it good to go

So if I am reading this right the caps for both clues are O,L,V,W,Y A,I,G,D

I don't think you are reading it right. Either you have an extra letter in there or if you're looking at all the capital letters, you're missing the CC from Cheshire Cat.

Hi, I don't have time to actually hunt or to even pull out a map, but here are today's random thoughts:

Biscuits makes me think of dog biscuits (perhaps a park with a dog area)
Tea makes me think of a sign with a large T or a T in the road or a tree in the shape of a T or something like that
Dining and cooking make me think of a restaurant nearby. Or, maybe a park with a deli or food service in it (Como, Phalen, etc.)

Back from dinner and chores at my Moms and done slogging through a couple boards here.

I tend to lean currently to the idea of Como or Highland. Being Como isn't out of the running, it's a good idea to keep it on the list until we get clues that make it impossible.

yeah, Terry is quiet but watch out, for when she speaks you better be listening!

Me2! That's one of the funniest things I've ever heard about myself. I don't think that most people think of me as quiet.

Funny, I don't remember making that rule this year.

That F-in wabbit is messin wit cha. There's too many of us that would NEVER participate in another AW hunt if he EVER decided to put it there.

Plus, I know he's not too fond of the park either. He might as well put it in a diaper full of chocolate while he's at it. ;-)

Hi Jake. call me on clue 7 and we'll go out and steal this little kitty.

AW is currently moving the medallion out of como

That's why he used the Cheshire Cat thing. So he could move it all over the place by making it disappear and reappear.

Clever idea ;)

Ahh for the lack of cloaking technology, that would sure make treasure hunts interesting.
