2004 Allison Wonderland Mock Hunt

Submitted by THX 1138 on

Welcome to the 5th Annual Allison Wonderland Mock Hunt!

The treasure was found just before 9am on Wednesday, March 10th, by Me2. She will get a prize around $290 plus a variety of other goodies. It was found in Marydale Park on the north side in a pit under a tree near lamp post #12.

The wrap up party will be Saturday, March 13th at 8pm at Fabulous Fern's.

I bet I can guess whose sunglasses those were! I'll ask Dad after the sun comes up :).

ESD - You had your books with?!?! I guess I didn't see any floating around, so didn't even ask....
<sigh>.

It was fun seeing everyone without tons of outdoor wear on - although I thought it was awfully warm in there - it felt SO good to get outside! Sure hope this weather holds for a little while.

In Through The Looking Glass, books are written in Jabberwocky, or backwards.

Peek read backwards is keep. Remove the p and you have kee, the last three letters in Cherokee. That jumped out at me last night and I'm working on it until I have more to go on.

`Now, if you'll only attend, Kitty, and not talk so much, I'll tell you all my ideas about Looking-glass House. First, there's the room you can see through the glass -- that's just the same as our drawing room, only the things go the other way. I can see all of it when I get upon a chair -- all but the bit behind the fireplace. Oh! I do so wish I could see THAT bit! I want so much to know whether they've a fire in the winter: you never CAN tell, you know, unless our fire smokes, and then smoke comes up in that room too -- but that may be only pretence, just to make it look as if they had a fire. Well then, the books are something like our books, only the words go the wrong way; I know that, because I've held up one of our books to the glass, and then they hold up one in the other room....

...' She was up on the chimney-piece while she said this, though she hardly knew how she had got there. And certainly the glass WAS beginning to melt away, just like a bright silvery mist.

In another moment Alice was through the glass, and had jumped lightly down into the Looking-glass room. The very first thing she did was to look whether there was a fire in the fireplace, and she was quite pleased to find that there was a real one, blazing away as brightly as the one she had left behind.

There are 12 chapters in Through The Looking Glass. Perhaps there is one clue in each of the chapters.

Go to The Ghosts of Treasure Hunts Past and you can read the clues from his other hunts.

O.K. I want to repost this since i'm sober now...

Yesterday was busy busy busy and flew by.
My daughter was sick ....and now is feeling great...her temp yesterday did a spike just before I left to go to the pre-dig...so I told my wife I won't go long...

I really didn't have that much time to say Hi to everybody but I wanted to stop by......
then after I got home my wife told me we had to go to my brother in law's house for dinner...(his boys are "kids gone wild") so I usually get drunk at his house during dinners to drown out the kids......
but for some reason maybe the beers at FF snuck up on me and made me really hammered last nite....or the wine at dinner....

anyways..I really wanted to stick around more last nite and meet more people I didn't want to seem like I was stuck up or something....I just had a lot on my mind with Katie being sick.....I was worried about her temp increasing that fast and not knowing why....(she's feeling a lot better today)

Maybe mixing beer, vodka and wine had something to do with it? I don't drink, but I've been told that mixing your alcohol like that will make you drunk or sick or something bad.

So that means that I should drink? A drinker by association? They're a great family. I consider them more like sons and daughters because their mother died young and I was the only aunt that lived in town here. I think they feel the same way.

what better a looking glass though, than the binocualr thingy on the overlook at the cherokee park end of the high bridge? should we be looking through that to see the park?

Ahh, answered my own question with a check.

Alice in Wonderland and Alice through the Looking Glass, two seperate stories.

My guess at this point, Alice Park, or Cherokee, because Alice St. is connected to it.

(of course this is only a guess, I'm not sure why AW would reference the park so early)

I think it was 3M who suggested that maybe that's really the last clue. Everything in reverse. But doesn't sound like a clue 12 unless it just explains why things were reversed. Now I sound like I'm talking Jabberwocky!

I think it was 3M who suggested that maybe that's really the last clue.

Not sure he would do that as Lilman already did the reverse clue idea for his Mounds Park hunt last summer.
