The Meeker Island Lock & Dam Walking Tour will be held on August 27. Times are 10 a.m. to noon and 1 - 3 p.m., at Emerald St. & East River Pkwy. Although it is free, reservations are required. To make a reservation, contact Katie Galloway at (651) 222-2193 ext. 14.
This tour will visit the ruins of the first lock and dam on the Mississippi. Information will be provided on why the lock was abandoned after 5 years.
The Meeker Island dam was demolished, although some ruins of the lock remain. Tops of the old lock walls become visible during low water periods on the river. It is located north of the Lake Street-Marshall Avenue Bridge connecting Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Could be the "lock" that holds the key is the name of a lock maker, Like Stanley, Kryptonite, or Master...

Just one last reminder that the Mock Hunt will be starting this Sunday, February 12th. Clues will come out daily at 6pm. They will be posted here as well as other sites. This year the hunt will have a pirate theme as you'll be hunting for a (plastic) gold coin. My phone number is included with the coin so you can call me anytime if you should happen to find it. I do expect if you find it that you will let me know right away, otherwise the prize might be forfeit. The prize will be $500 which may be a combination of cash and prizes, if you are a registered hunter, or $100 cash if you are not. To register, you have until the release of Clue #4 to get a $10 registration fee to me. You can send it via Paypal to this email, ask me for an address to send a check to, or give it to me at the kick off party on Sunday. Any money and/or prizes taken in and not awarded will be rolled over to the next Mock Hunt, to be determined by the winner of this one.
The gold coin is hidden on public property in St. Paul. It is not hidden on a body of water, on a golf course, in a zoo, up a tree, on or in a building, on a steep hill, inside anything electrical or that you'd have to break open, or anywhere else that common sense
would suggest you should perhaps avoid. Nor is it hidden somewhere that is likely to be gated off.
and he is paid up for next years WC hunt 2...
what's to say that the nearby lot is a parking lot? rather that there's a lot of stuff nearby.
key being what its in or connected to
or near the lock and damn- could be Hidden Falls again.
the meeker lock and damn is underwater now- there was an article done in the Higland Villager and maybe the Pioneer Press about a year ago about finding the exact location for historical purposes.
They eat what bugs them.
I'll go on record for 1-2 inches.
