2006 Allison Wonderland Mock Hunt

Submitted by KITCH on
Clue #1
Thar's stories told thar's pirate's gold
Stolen from ye olde martyr's stock
To make yer haul, go search St. Paul
You'll find the key is in the lock

Clue #2
The Chinook wind blows, and the gray sky snows
As weary pirates seek shelter from the storm
Just how much treasure will make yer pleasure?
Thar’s a lot nearby but it shan’t make ye warm

Clue #3
A pirate must spy the stars with an eye
And whilst navigating stay ever alert
Misery'd prevail, if ye try to set sail
In a ship aimed towards the rich Shepard's dirt.

Clue #4
“Grub at six bells,” the pirate yells,
Zounds matey, tis nearly time for dinner.
But ye must wit which spot to sit,
Ones nearby might help make ye a winner.

Clue #5
A fire all aglow in me bungalow
Tempts a pirate to spend me time in port
But I’d best set sail and catch a strong gale
To avoid me fateful, dire day in court.

Clue #6
When pirates sail by the sweet lorelei
Aye, a careful prayer they must be keepin’
For her tempting call could well end it all
And with the dead soldiers they’d be sleepin’.

Clue #7
“The way that be best to open ye chest
Is to use a key”, the old pirate yawned.
Disappoint it may, would you perhaps say,
To be findin’ out the key had been pawned?

Clue #8
Tis a chain methinks fraught with many links
That’s meanin’ yer close enough to smell’er
Ye’d be no dummy hunting this mummy
Aye, lest ye panic and go run yeller.

Clue #9
Skeletons sit silently, having not died violently,
They’re simply sleeping through the winter days.
Listen closely my dear, they say “Treasure is near,
Buts if ye shall claims it, ye can not stays.”

Clue #10
Tis a park ye pursue, t’would be easy to view
If’n ye knew the street whereby cars buzz
But you’ll do just fine if ye get in line
With what be the interstate that never was.

Only an hour and a half to Clue 5. Only 42 hours until this hunt makes it longer than the PP hunt.

Good Evening!

I've got a park in mind. We'll see what this new clue says.

Maybe I'll find myself back in the frogpond.

I seem to recall that the trees in the movie were specifically planted that way for the purpose of the movie. You wouldn't generally ever see such a thing occur naturally because plants tend to grow towards the sun and thus would all grow in the same direction.

So I wonder what park everyone is looking in? Sounds like people are actually kind of scattered.

Terry

I haven't seen anyone yet talk about the park I'm thinking. We'll see what the clue says here in a couple minutes.

Lamberts Landing

I dont know

I think they were like that naturally but I'll look it up again. I know there were still two of the 4 trees standing the last time I looked it up. It would take quite a while to plant/grow trees that big. Especially just for a movie.

maybe there is a firepit enclosed in a shelter? crosby is the only one that comes to mind offhand.

OT - These are the rules stated before this hunt began....

The gold coin is hidden on public property in St. Paul. It is not hidden on a body of water, on a golf course, in a zoo, up a tree, on or in a building, on a steep hill, inside anything electrical or that you'd have to break open, or anywhere else that common sense

would suggest you should perhaps avoid. Nor is it hidden somewhere that is likely to be gated off.

Thanks Terry.

the tennis court at Cherokee is in the 600 block of Cherokee...but the coin does not appear to be on or under the bench (I already looked)

I did not, however, scour the entire court

tim_the_hunter

I have a different place in mind, I might be crazy but I'm gonna scout it tomorrow and see what I come up with (hopefully a little coin).

new jail court is close to swede hollow - tons of gangsters used to frequent the swede hollow parts as well - not saying gangsters are pirates but in a way they are were .......like harriet some too:)

harriet might work

Harriet Island is my choice now. The Covington Inn could be the bungalow in a port and you might be able to see the top of the Ramsey County Courthouse from there. At the very least, you can see the Ramsey County jail.

It moved, right?

Clue Master

Yeah, it's up by 7th and Laffayette now. Past Savoys
Thu, 02/16/2006 - 6:35 PM Permalink
OT

What is it? That didn't last long. My husband did the plumbing for that building and now it's obsolete. Wow! I am old! :worried:

How about the courthouse? Can you see any of that?
Thu, 02/16/2006 - 6:38 PM Permalink
Clue Master

Oh yeah. The courts are still there it's just the jail that moved. They were tired of being voted best jail with a view in the US.

I don't know what they're using it for now. me2? You hang out down there. Did they attach it to the old West building for storage or something?
Thu, 02/16/2006 - 6:43 PM Permalink
Clue Master

I just talked to my bro who's the kitchen manager for the jail and he said that they are probably going to tear the old building down since nobody wanted to buy it. He said there were too many complaints of it looking too correctional facility like and too many ghost stories with all the suicides.

He said it sounded like they'll be building residential after the old place is gone.

that building woulda been some sweet condos...
Thu, 02/16/2006 - 7:07 PM Permalink

dont know if the old jail is used for storage but it is connected to West- always has been. Both the jail and West are coming down in the next 18 months for condos and such.
