Going forward the next clues will come out daily at 6pm. They will be posted to the Allison Wonderland yahoo group at that time. They will also get cross posted to the Ableminds site and the Pioneer Press message boards, though possibly a little later.
As of last night the prize was up to $155 based on the number of registrations and donations taken in. One can still register for the hunt up through the release of the 4th clue. The cost is $10 to register and I anticipate the total prize will exceed $200. One can also hunt without registering, but then the prize is just $100. If you would still like to register, you can do so by Paypal to AllisonWondrland@yahoo.com or let me know you'd like to register and I can give you an address to send a check to.
There will be 12 clues, released one per day. The hunt will continue until the treasure is found. The medallion you're looking for is a disc that is white/clear in color, about 2 inches across and half an inch wide. It will not be hidden in or on water, up in a tree, underground, on the side of a cliff, inside anything electrical, inside a garbage can, or anywhere else that would make you ask yourself "Should I be doing this?" Once the treasure is found, call the phone number on the back right away, any time of day.
Clue#1
The hunt has begun, thus clue number one
Should hint at where the treasure hides
Best not to spill all, but let's say St. Paul
You can even find it in all your guides
Just look for some trees, not many of these
In any park so you're well on your way
To focus your vision, use some precision
Be counting from the start for the big pay
Clue #2
Some remedial math puts you on the path
Begin the equation by starting with a trinity
Count another two, then one more will do
Then put two and two together to mark the vicinity.
Clue #3
To be rude and abrupt, or even corrupt
Puts you on Santa's naughty list, not nice.
But this is the day you will find your way
If you can keep our vagueness on ice.
Clue #4
Stay true to your mark and look in a park
Where one can see land both low and high
Though it sounds funny, you’ll be in the money
If you lay bets mixed up and know why
Clue #5
It’s to the hider’s delight when the weather is white
As it keeps a buried treasure from view
But not all is on the ground, you should look up and around
And to the white add some red and some blue.
Clue #6
Rid of the fan, he ran and he ran.
There’s no doubt he was quite a talker
Mother Nature’s beau- the lawyers said so
Post finish, still serves a walker
Clue #7
Look and you can see most beautifully
A skyline with a splendiferous view
But that’s not enough for foes to rebuff
Play this clue right and you can score too.
Clue #8
Cheer up if you're lost or sensing exhaust
I promise there will still be more clues
Perform to your peak, and for what you seek
Watch for those who are playing the blues
Clue #9
No hunt for grandpa, get rid of the blah
This game is for those of a hip age like Reggie
He found the jewel hidden in Newell
So follow his lead and be a bit more edgy
Clue #10
A heritage to share will get you mostly there
As one should know what flows in one’s blood
And though it be punny to say it’s not sunny
Dig where the moon struck with a thud.
Clue # 11
On Indian grounds, and I don’t mean Mounds
Is the park that will take you to greater heights
There you’ll have to go and look through the snow
And soon you will find something that delights
The sign of Gemini you will have to spy
Keep asphalt never more than a few strides
Find just the right tree, it lines up you’ll see
And then you will conquer where it divides

If you want a separate thing for the post hunt, that's fine, but if you want to combine, that would be cool.
I will be in town and that day/time period will allow me to hook up with a few coolerheads I need to see, and others as want to be there!
Once I have a time I will post in the shoot the breeze thread.
Speaking of which, she's out at the park right now. Anybody else going out before the new clue at 6? We think we have an area nailed down based on summing all the clues together and spotting things we hadn't spotted before, but it's only about a 90% fit.
The Carbone's on Wentworth has two seating areas. Each one has an area along the windows where you can seat probably 20 people easily, with booths or tables adjacent that would seat another 16 or more.
How many people would come out for the post hunt thing? So far I know of 6 people, counting me, who are planning to be at Carbone's. But again, I haven't posted it on the shoot the breeze thread - just so far have PMed with people I need to hook up with and we were going to take it from there...open it to whomever can make it.
How does that sound to you? Should we go for it?
At this point, I'm thinking 5:30PM would get us in there early enough to get a table - I'll get there even earlier to see what I can snag for tables.
So...Sunday, March 16 at 5:30PM at Carbone's on Wentworth (in the first block west of Robert Street)???
Their business sign is closer to Livingston, so its kind of easy to miss the driveway from Wentworth, but if you do, just turn north on Livingston!
as for saturday though? I know a few of us will be drinking all day so driving anywhere may be a problem. Unless we get a Rabbit for a chauffeur
BTW, HEY! Mr Hang O. Ver is MY date!!! :goofy:

no tie-ing up without me damn it!!
could this last until 12?
WooT!
the real deal!
Found in Cherokee Park
sounds like he stepped on it and felt it underfoot
lots of commotion in the background
when he stepped on it - it seems that it wasn't covered hardly at all on the ground.
Blues was the color of the playground
Becks got the Curt - ice!!
ok, I'm off the phone with everyone
back to work!
We didn't get out like we had planned. Almost made it out tonight - but the phone wouldn't quit ringing.
One of these years I hope I find that sucker, too
David...as always...thanks for a good hunt. Had me in Swede Hollow and Bruce Vento until yesterday...
BFG is a great noodler, BTW
Hopefully, my Curtice noodle was right (curt+ice) because it was probably the best noodle I came up with... :eyeroll:
This sucks as I enjoy AW's clues more than the PP clues well who doesn't for that matter?
I'm curious what the explanations will be. I like the Curtice one so far.
Double win for the Dino!~
Clue 1: Focus your vision, use some precision - This one immediately made us think of Cherokee with the viewfinders and binoculars... should've stuck with the gut feeling... lol
Clue 2: We had thought we figured it out with the 64 bus line, deducing that the park would be somewhere along the route (which Swede Hollow was)... obviously wrong... I get the tree reference here, I still don't get the entire connection though
Clue 3: Had us all over the place trying to figure it out. Never did get "Curtice" out of it. Oh well, can't win em all
Clue 4: Immediate thoughts again pointed to Cherokee or Swede Hollow. Got the "tables" from the last line pretty quick.
Clue 5: Really pointed us to Swede. Down on the 7th st side by the Downtowner Car Wash (which has a red white and blue sign) there's the Vikings Profuel gas station which is about the ONLY purple landmark in St. Paul that could be used in a clue. We thought we had it :ooh:
Clue 6: Got Bruce Vento right away. Just confirmed the exact same area of Swede to us.
Clue 7: "rebuff" again pointed me towards the Downtowner Car Wash. Play this clue right - The trail down there cuts into two going left and right. Still don't get the full Cherokee reference here.
Clue 8: Minnesota Music Cafe, again pointing us towards Swede. Later on, I thought it might be a reference to Orleans street and Cherokee. Exhaust told me it would be close to an autoshop or the street.
Clue 9: Thought it might be the nursing home on the northern end of Swede, but this is when we started doubting ourselves on the whole Swede theory. Edgy kind of pointed us towards the city/county line, and we also thought about the whole Annapolis / Ann Bilansky / Bruce Vento viewing area over there. There's also a baseball field right there (lots of baseball references - you can score too, game for those of a hip age, struck with a thud, ran and he ran)... theres also a fire hydrant and mailbox right at the corner (red and blue)...
Clue 10: Had it in about 5 minutes. Smacked myself in the head. Didn't really narrow down an area though, just the park?
Clue 11: Self explanatory. My wife had the area right away, but the kids weren't cooperating and she didn't get a good amount of hunting in before it was found.
Overall, it was fun, even though I only personally spent about an hour actually out looking. We all had fun. Thanks David! Looking forward to the full explanations....
The hunt has begun, thus clue number one
Should hint at where the treasure hides
Best not to spill all, but letÂ’s say St. Paul
You can even find it in all your guides
Just look for some trees, not many of these
In any park so youÂ’re well on your way
To focus your vision, use some precision
Be counting from the start for the big pay
On a basic level this clue tells you that the medallion is hidden in St. Paul in a common park that is listed in the Treasure Hunter’s Guide. It’s also in an area with trees, but not in the woods. The tricky part of the clue is alluded to in the last line where it suggests you count from the start. If you look at the first letter of each line (for example T), take its place in the alphabet (for example 20), and then count over that many letters from the start of each line, the resulting letters, one per line, spell out C-H-E-R-O-K-E-E. “Focus your vision” alludes to the sign with the binoculars visible from the nearby hiding spot.
Some remedial math puts you on the path
Begin the equation by starting with a trinity
Count another two, then one more will do
Then put two and two together to mark the vicinity.
The remedial math in this clue was really just about counting. The first part of the clue is alluding to the pyramids found in the park. There is a set of three on one building (the trinity), a set of two at one picnic shelter, and then one more pyramid on the other shelter. Putting two and two together alludes to the number “22” painted on a nearby tree visible from the hiding spot.
To be rude and abrupt, or even corrupt
Puts you on Santa's naughty list, not nice.
But this is the day you will find your way
If you can keep our vagueness on ice.
This clue is just a play on words. To be rude and abrupt is to be “curt”. If you add “curt” to “ice” you get “Curtice”, the street that runs right into where the treasure was hidden.
Stay true to your mark and look in a park
Where one can see land both low and high
Though it sounds funny, youÂ’ll be in the money
If you lay bets mixed up and know why
This clue confirms it is in a park. In the last line, the words “lay bets” are an anagram (mixed up). If you remove the Y (know why = No Y), you can rearrange the letters to spell “tables”, a reference to the many picnic tables nearby. Also, land both high and low refers to the view from the park where you can see the high land in the park as well as the low land below it. And if you add the word “land” to the word “mark” you get the Landmark Brewery which is visible from the park.
ItÂ’s to the hiderÂ’s delight when the weather is white
As it hides a buried treasure from view
But not all is on the ground, you should look up and around
And to the white add some red and some blue.
On one level this clue is just telling you that the treasure is indeed on the ground buried beneath the snow. But in addition to the white snow, one can also see many blue and red picnic tables nearby.
Rid of the fan, he ran and he ran.
ThereÂ’s no doubt he was quite a talker
Mother NatureÂ’s beau- the lawyers said so
Post finish, still serves a walker
This was hopefully a better incarnation of one of the worst clues ever. It is briefly the story of Bruce Vento. In his first term he helped pass laws to ban fan motors in the BWCA. After that he ran for and won many re-elections, and was always known for his environmental support. After he died, his name was lent to the Bruce Vento Trail. However this clue was not about the trail, it was about Bruce Vento, and in this case the Bruce Vento Scenic Overlook which has a sign near the treasure spot.
Look and you can see most beautifully
A skyline with a splendiferous view
But thatÂ’s not enough for foes to rebuff
Play this clue right and you can score too.
This clue implies that the park has a great view in general, and that you can see downtown specifically. The last line has a triple meaning if you change “too” to “two”. In one sense it means you can see not just one downtown, but two since you can see Minneapolis as well as St. Paul from Cherokee. Score two also alludes to the basketball court nearby where one would score two points for a basket. And if a score is taken to mean 20, then score two could be 22, again referring to the number on a tree visible from the hiding spot.
