Maybe even spread it around? One night at Joseph's, one at Yarusso's, one at Obbs...hit the various places that are Cooler regular spots, a way to keep us on their radar throughout the year...
I'm still thinking the first weekend of March but I'm trying to work out some details. The hiding spot has been chosen and the clues are being worked on, but I'm trying to figure out the money. We're in preliminary negotiations with Yarusso's to see if they might sponsor it, but it sounds like they want to make it more of a charity fundraiser and I'm not sure if that will work.
I think a charity fundraiser could work. I can't speak for everyone, but when I do your hunt it's more for the fun than the money. Maybe something like everyone puts whatever the registration fee is in he pot and Yarussos makes a matching donation to a charity.
my donation (monetary or not monetary) does depend on the charity case - ie: person or place
if you consider that selfish than so be it
I know during any given hunt there is someone that can't afford the gas to get to the parks. I'm not in a position right now to go pick this thing up in a park to give it away to someone when I'm in need myself. I'm my own charity case right now.
That's why I said that the registration money could go in the pot and Yarussos could make a matching donation to a charity. That way the hunt would still be for charity and there would still be a prize (probably bigger than past years if we market this thing correctly).
Finally, a belated update. We had wanted to try something different this year and maybe get someone to sponsor the hunt and put up some of the prize money. I met with Yarusso's about it finally last night, but due to the fact that we don't get a big crowd for the mock hunts, there was too much uncertainty about making any money back. They did offer to host the kickoff party and give us appetizer and drink specials as well as chip in a gift certificate towards the prize. On the down side, they were busy for this weekend. So with that and the organization running late this year we set the kickoff party for Friday, March 12th instead as that is a good night for them and gives us a little more time to prepare.
As for the prize, we're going to have to go back to the old model where we charge $10 to be a registered hunter. If you're a registered hunter and you find it, you get the entire prize which will be however much money we take in, plus the gift certificate, plus whatever money Jake and I throw into it. Offhand I would guess that will put the prize between $300 and $500. If you don't register and you find the medallion, you will get $100 and whatever money that is leftover from what was taken in will go towards another hunt or the Rehash or something.
So right now the plan is to meet starting at 5pm at Yarusso's on Friday March 12th. The clues will be released at 6pm asnd we're free to hang out for however long. You'll be able to register at the kickoff as well as at the fundraiser for Nicole on that Sunday, or any time up until the release of the 4th clue. You can also register via Paypal at AllisonWondrland@yahoo.com
We do have the hiding spot chosen and the clues are being worked on. I don't know that we're going to have video versions of the clues, but I do have an idea for a similar little twist to out on them.
I did a picture clue when I did my Ghost hunt - found in Orchard Park
that was fun
Has anyone posted about the Mystical fundraiser anywhere - why hasn't it? details? If someone knows than please post details in the regular Shoot the Breeze thread.
I think I'll come by to hang out and have some dinner and drinks....tho I don't plan to participate in the hunt. Bob is out of town all this week so looking for things to do  So if it's ok.......see ya'll Friday
Unless and until we create a thread just for this hunt, I guess I will post the clues here for now...
The Allison Wonderland Mock Hunt has begun. We kicked it off with a dinner at Yarusso's tonight where the first clue was released. We had quite a crowd there, though many of them were just visiting. At present we have less than 20 participants which means the prize will stand at $200 plus an extra $5 that was chipped in for a total of $205. If we get more than 20 participants, I will kick the prize up to $300. You can still register prior to the 4th clue release either by using Paypal at this email or contact me to make other arrangements.
And now for the clue:
Clue #1
Embark if you dare, and donÂ’t quickly scare
Oh, in this hunt youÂ’ll have something to fear
Essential to the prize are some unblinking eyes
Teeter not if your resolve is sincere
This is but clue one and when it is done
You may choose to smack your head and gasp “Duh”
Allison, I always love your hunts. Sorry we missed the gathering tonight but work, work, and more work is at a fevered pitch. There is no way this year I can participate. I've worked the past 3 weekends in addition to the regular work week.
Things will be better in April. I'm actually getting a day off!!!
I look forward to the clues...and the explanations later.
We did miss you last night. I was actually a bit worried as I hadn't seen you even post in a while, but we also knew that work was pretty busy for you. Hopefully you'll get to keep up with the clues at least.
Decided to go out to a park today. Pretty sure I saw
someone else looking for this, unless they were letterboxing. Didn't recognize them, it appeared to be three generations of women looking. Didn't find it so will wait until tonights clue.
Sorry for being away all day. And then of course I wasn't able to send Jake the clue to post for me so he wrote one up. However our regularly scheduled clues should resume tomorrow.
Things are pretty busy with work and the baby, I feel like I'm running on fumes right now. If it is not found by Friday then I will try to take a look for it then!
It gets people in to drink there.
I go out and search for the money!
= I will put in $ if you go this route again

I don't think anyone would ever hide one in Alice Park.
but I like this idea
There is a cache in Alice Park that I haven't even gone out to log :eyeroll:
MedMan says: Clue 1 - It's outside me2's house
You'll find her in Hidden Falls on some tangent noodle that she talked herself into. :sheepish:
Any updates on the mock hunt?

Clue #2
Should you turn back? No, just one way to go
Your map will help you to see your way through.
Yes this truth is stark, go look in a park.
But donÂ’t stray too far from the patch of blue
And the previous clue:

Round and round you shall go
Where to stop not only thy rabbit knows
And before you go, if itÂ’s the hunt you still revel
You could take your search to a cyber level
Round and round you go, who is in the know?
Another creature besides the rabbit.
Before you head out maybe think about
Adding a cyber bit to your habit
down next weekend.
Clue #4
Looking for a fright? ItÂ’s quiet at night
Trees loom large on the edge of open space
If treasure you seek, you may want to peek
On grounds where you can search more than one place
And the previous clues:

Can't read them all right now but I do have a park in mind since clue 1. Clue 2 seems to concur and clue 3 makes 1 and 2 still look good.
Good Luck everyone!
