Congratulations all.

Just my luck, show up and be in last place. I shoulda known to just keep driving after I saw mucluck on her way into the library though (Sorry mucluck, didn't get a chance to tell ya that bit).

Blah, I'm not upset, I really didn't have time/energy to put into this hunt.

Now for a nice long rest before the big one. Enjoy your winnings people, I'll take the 10,000 dollar prize instead

I think minbin should do some sort of write up on their site about this...."local group 'the cooler crew' sweeps the minbin mouse hunt"

of course that might piss off other hunters...but does anyone think there were other hunters??

The Minbin site has been mostly updated with pictures and clues.

I dont think anyone else knows about their website....

I don't think anyone else knows either.

I think this hunt was supposed to attract attention to their site, and all it did was cost them $5,000.

It's good for us, but kinda bad for them.

I agree. Sadly I don't think it really did much for them. Had more word gotten out it might have been better. Cluemaster, how did you run across the info anyway?

Seems as though a lot more thought went into Mouse #2 than the others. I wonder if the same person hid all three.

Are these the same librarians who told you yesterday they would keep an eye out and let you know if they found something?

Still feels like something from Amazing Race to me.

Well, I told people, (my family and that's lots of people) and they might have told people and maybe some of you told people who told more people and on and on. So it might work out for them.

I know next time some hunt ends up at a library, I'm going to read all the clues and my interpretations to every librarian in the place, weither they want to hear it or not :goofy:

after talking to the guys when me2 turned hers in, they were in cahoots with the librarians there.

in addition, they were talking about the pp hunt, and how one of the problems they had with it was that one person took home the whole lot of it, hence the five mice. they'd also heard of coolercrew.com. wonder how long it'll take them tor realise we swept it.

I think if they have another hunt, and it's advertised that they will, they should maybe have fewer treasures and use some money they save on that to buy advertising on bus stop benches or even the side of a bus. No idea how much that costs, but I'd think the benches are less expensive than the bus itself because they aren't a traveling advertisement.

They've probably already been here. If you Google Clue Master St. Paul Winter Carnival, it takes you to Coolertimes which links you here.

they could even think about running an add in City Pages....

not sure how much that runs either, but thats what the majority of that thing is, is adds....

Personally I don't care if they see one group found them all (especially since I didn't find one :pbpt: ) I think if they do another one, it won't be a clean sweep, as talk on their site says it will be scheduled in March. Plenty of time for local area folks to pick up on the info. What this group did was provide a history for their hunts, if they have more (like saying their first hunt was a complete success, which I think it was).

That's what makes it special. I like what these guys did, having five hunts, but I wouldn't want that for the Winter Carnival hunt.

agreed completely. of course, the wc hunt has 54 years of tradition behind it...

No, I didn't put the note back. It's in my pocket.

The guys were planning on having another hunt, probably in the spring. We advised them to get it put together so they can advertise during the winter carnival hunt. They were really cool guys!

Heh - They actually marked each rollerball different and also had something else inside that I couldn't see.

Who knew you had to cozy up to a librarian?

Ahem - I did yesterday, to all of them except the childrens ladies area.

Well since nobody let me close to a mouse, I didn't have time to attach a tracker......

Just about anyone coulda done a lo-tech one, push button key locator, just gotta get fancy with hiding the beeper in the mouse.....

Now what would have happened if somebody else (other than cooler crew) found the note and didn't figure out the rest of the clues? I'm pretty sure they would not have left the note for the next person.

I checked the book out of my library today and trust me, I don't think there's much of a call for that book. It's going back tomorrow.

Actually, it isn't any weirder than some things people use for bookmarks in library books. :ooh:

OT - Ever since my wife noodled the library clue and I thought it was going to be inside a book I had an Amazing Race picture in my head. It was exactly like that today too. All of you who weren't there would have loved it. The noodle time after Tim found the note was probably the most intense noodling I've ever done. I'm term it: PressureNoodling. All of us were silently thinking what the note could mean while looking around. The first place I went to was the computer mice and overturned everyone of them until I seen the sticker on the bottom of one that said to "See The Childrens Desk MB. Jake and I ran over to the childrens area where story time was going on with about 50 kids. We hesitated for a nano-second then started overturning every little mouse in the kids area with all the kids looking on. Nothing mattered at that point. No luck for about 2 minutes then I asked the childrens librarians if they seen an old computer mouse anywhere? And we looked around the desk as she then sit back down and smiles and says: "I do but what's the password?" I about shit! I pulled Jake aside and freaked and said that the lady knew something and was in on it and we had to come up with a password.

The first thing that came to my head was the word Whiskers because I didn't know where that fit in the clues. "Nope!" with an excited look on both of their faces. "But you're closer than you think". "SHIT! - oops, sorry" Then Jake and I were beaming because with that comment we knew they were definitely part of the finally. As I reached into my pocket for the clues it hit me like a fricken lightning bolt! :worried:

MINNEAHAHA FALLS!!!!! :ooh:  :worried:

"YOU GOT IT!" She says and asks me to come with her. On the way back towards the front she tells me that I already had it in my hands once before. I didn't get what she meant and went through my mental roldex at lightning speed to figure out all the things I touched in the library over the last 2 days. Then she walks up to the computer that lead me to them and reaches behind the computer and unplugs it and gave it to me and says congratulations. Whooo Hooooo!!

Of course I had to get my hugs and pictures with her afterwards. They were all real cool and genuinely excited about the whole thing. I had to appologise to the lady at the front desk who answers the phones since I bugged her a bunch of times on my way out to reserve the book for when they opened. I talked with the branch manager, who's number I got yesterday, and asked him if he could save it for me. He said that he couldn't but he knew for a fact that it was in and that it was in the 2nd floor library in the fictional mysteries section in the middle asile. At the time I found it strange that he knew all this info on this book at the top of his head. Now I find out he knew the whole time.

I think back to the girl who took a lot of time looking through lost-and-found drawers for me the day before and not being able to say a thing. She had to be dying to say something.

This hunt kicked ass!!

Lots of people got to get a piece of the pie. As we said all along, this hunt was created for us and we stepped up to the place. Thank you all for your congratulations and thanks for the info. I wouldn't have had it any other way.

I would like to give the special cudo's award to OTiS for being right there for 4 of the 5 finds! He's the biggest brides maid I know. I'm just glad he got to share in one the prizes too. Not trying to rub it in Dan just giving you some honest props.

I feel good that these 4 awesome guys at Valhala/minbin will have a spring hunt shortly after the PP hunt to grab the 1000's of bummed out hunters.

Congrats to everyone and thanks to CM to clueing us in on this hunt.

I'm a little bugged that mouse 2 was impossible to find until today's clue. I looked up every book I could think of and even a Merle Haggard CD (He has a CD titled "Big City"). I did ask a librarian on 2nd floor to help me find book about Minnehaha Falls. And then I was down in the popular/children's library aimlessly wandering. I thought of asking them to help. I even sat down at a computer to look up if there was a children's book with the title "whisker" in it. I felt the librarians were looking at me like I was up to something so I left. :frown: Oh well what are you going to do? :eyeroll:

Very fun and challenging hunt. Can't wait for next one.

woulda been more interesting if the librarian didn't ask you for a password. If I was asked that, I mighta thought up minnehaha falls too, but I wasn't expecting a password, so minnehaha falls just didn't fit in.

I'm just disappointed I haven't had a life in the last couple weeks, at least enough of one to muster up some time to get out and look. Been so dead dog tired from being busy, I just haven't felt like doing anything. Actually I still don't, friday night and I'm stuck at work for a while...

I'm thinking the guys at minbin probably enjoyed watching this one unfold more than the others. Which probably means more of the same in the March hunt. And that translates into lots of scrambling for a few days with no results during a chilly Minnesota March. :lipsealed:

Were any "designed" to be easier or harder?

Each of the clues were designed to be hard or at least hard to us. For some of you hardcore hunters though they may have been pretty easy. We just wanted to make sure everyone had a good time doing this.

I especially thought #2 was hard. The rest of them I thought we narrowed down the parks pretty quickly, thanks to some great noodles.

We will be launching the dates for the next Mouse Hunt sometime next week. It will likely be held in March. We will have new clues and new locations.

#2 was the best

The only beef I had was there was really no way to find the book before today. But the book wasn't necessary to find the mouse, I should have found the mouse yesterday.

I went there on break from work, and had to run, otherwise I think I would have, because I checked the mouse of the computer next to it, but had to get going. My thinking yesterday was the librarians might be in on it, and it would be really hard to hide a mouse there so it might be one of the mice in plain sight. Too bad I didn't go back after work and actually use those thoughts!

All's well that ends well though, and a cooler crew sweep is pretty darn well if you ask me!

Just a few days ago I was hoping we could get atleast one, little did I know...
