Yeah, there's something about going around the sun 55 times that seems to have really seasoned me. But ten years from now I'll look back and think what a cocky little shit I was!

Irritates: taking a bad softball toss of the tip of my finger on my NON-gloved hand. Don't think I broke anything, but my middle fingertip is like a big purple grape now. Iced it plenty already... can still feel my heartbeat inside it.

real sorry dawg.

if I were your wife I would fluff the pillows behind you that you'd need while kicking back on the couch while you ice your finger on top of a raised pillow on your lap. I'd get you a beer and tylenol and the remote.

hope that makes you feel a little better. heh.

the bruising is spreading, too - now I got purple below the knuckle - I gotta go home and drain it - nothing here at work but an X-acto knife that may/may not be sharp.

bummer on the finger MD. I have a black and blue knee cap from one of my little girls tossing a SB at me during warmups last week. I felt stupid when it hit me, and more stupid when I realized how much it hurt.

My company team has our first game tonight.. hoping we win!

irritates:

ghetto white trash. my BF's ex wife and her hoodlum boyfriend have taught the 3yr old how to flash gang signs and say.. "what up mexican?" They think he's a little puppet or something. They have also been teaching him mortal kombat stuff - and the dumb *%$)(#)$( has put video of it on you tube.

Needless to say, BF is not happy about this. We were at coffee this morning when the little guy 'pulled out the gang signs'. We were both mortified. Where did you learn that? MOMMY!

whitney recently jammed her finger playing ball. got all bruised and looked broken. the doctor said she needed the "buddy system" and they taped two fingers together. try that.

Naw - its not that serious. I did try to drain a little fluid out last night - the needle prick hole healed up almost instantaneously. It resembles a finger now, just an oddly colored one. I've almost got full range of movement back - no joint damage as far as I can tell = just probably a deep 'bone' bruise at the fingertip.

What a way to start my long weekend...

In trying to be organized and be ahead of the game, I went to fill out paper work for one of my student workers to return this summer to work. She is super organized and fast, its awesome.

Any ways Monday starts the new program year for the student worker program and need to complete all the paperwork over... come to find out she doesn't qualify for this coming year... so they said lets see what we did last year... OH OH she didn't qualify last year!!

Crap - this means myself and HR dropped th ball and didn't make sure this one tiny piece of paper was completed and so she worked for us for 2 quarters only to find out that we haven't been getting credit back - which put us over budget in salary (not by much) but still not good with all the cuts we have been doing.

I am getting the signal from management that we can't hire her for summer and we should hire someone who qualifies for the program. Which bites because she is a student here, she is one of our best workers, she is great with the donors and she was really counting on this job for the summer.... DAMN this is why I don't like being a supervisor.

All is on hold until Monday when I get back. I am hoping to be able to convince my supervisor that $2400 for the 3 months of summer would be well worth it.

    thats a huge bummer!

    why didn't she qualify?

if you missed the tiny piece of paper last year why can't you just fill it out this year?
    Thu, 06/04/2009 - 2:39 PM Permalink

because I am betting that that Tiny piece of paper that they didn't fill out last year is the reason that she got the job in the first place!!

witch means why don't you just Lose that Piece of paper!!!

Student workers are students who qualify for financial aid.

We hire the student for say $10hr

They work - then we pay -

Once a month we send a report to the Federal Government and say - we hired this student on financial aid and this is what we paid them... the government then rewards us but send a % of $$ back that we credit to our salary budget line -

So we hire them at $10... but in the end we actually are only paying like $2...

The little piece of paper is from the FAid office that says they qualify for aid and allowed to work...

She has been working - but we haven't been getting any credit back to our budget - which put us OVER budget in salaries for the past 2 qtrs... and in a time when we are laying people off to bring down this line item is not good...

I'm not really sure how explain why I'm irritated, but I am.

My BF's ex is working a beer booth for a festival, she has been running around telling everyone (it's a small world out here) that she got him 'kicked out' of it so her and her sister could work "cause they are soooo much 'hotter' and 'will get all the tip money'" - when the fact of the matter is, that the guy who runs the festival called my BF (and invited me to work as well) months ago, and we told him we couldn't because we were going to be out of town and he asked - well do you mind if I ask her? cause I need to staff it.

If she talks smack about something as trivial as this, what is she going to do about bigger things? <- that I suppose is really what irriates me.. not knowing what is coming out of her mouth next.

oh and friends who give some seriously STUPID unsolicited advice.

I was having coffee this morning with a girlfriend and mentioned that my BF is bringing his daughter to our softball game tonight, and after we were all going out to pizza, and I was excited because I haven't seen her in a couple weeks...

and I got a 15 minute lecture on how to deal with the kids and the intricacies of dating single parents..with detailed scenarios on how to act?!?!?! WTF?
    Wed, 06/10/2009 - 2:00 PM Permalink
    Mad_Dach5und

I seriously think some people come pre-loaded with advice and they are just waiting for the right excuse to release it.

    MY pre-loaded advice:

Find a drinking straw. Get a serious look on your face like you are deeply concerned with what they are saying. Place the drinking straw in your drink and proceed to blow bubbles like a five year old does in their chocolate milk. Stay serious and concerned, but keep blowing. See how long it takes for the friend to get distracted enough they lose their 'place' in the lecture.

    haha.. that's good stuff.

Funny thing, the whole night (for me) was horrible. I was late leaving work to get everything ready for the game (I'm the manager of our team) I had a bunch of stuff happen at work last minute, so I didn't get a chance to eat lunch - therefore going into it I was cranky. My Pitcher brought his nutty, needy girlfriend who sits in the dugout and talks at me constantly (about him) to the point where I wanted to slit my wrists with a plastic spoon.

So when we finally got to pizza, all I really wanted to do was lay my head on the table (or smash it into the table, since needy gf was sitting across the table from me).

So hanging with my BF's kid was really the last of my worries...

I want to run the nike 1/2 marathon in October (yes in the middle of harvest!) and can totally do the 13.6 miles - but I have to raise $2100 to do it. and instead of starting early like everyone else, I want to jump in and do it now...

and I have to decide like this week and put down my registration money...

irrites - panic over something stupid.

One girl in one of our clubs is now worried about going to mexico because of all the crime. basically, if you don't behave stupid, stay with the group, don't get drunk take off with a local (something she would prolly do) you will be fine.

Cabo is on a pennisula and far enough away from where the majority of the fighint (TJ, Cancun, Puerta Vallerta etc) is.

but now she has about 25 people all with thier knickers in a twist. I wish she just wouldn't go.
