Wouldn't Churchill St fit the hill for central and Como? Mike ......................................

I have been on the como train for most of the hunt. Been out there hunting a number of times by the torpedo and it just felt right. Prattle was the ball in the hole for me.
Then Clue 7 comes out and I can't think of any bad guy liar except Edward Phalen. But I am not feeling it for Phalen
Then Clue 8 comes out and I am definitely Up north with Central. Seems like as obvious as can be it's about Jake and the second hunt. I can't think of a better explanation.
My problem is the hill. Where is the hill. So many hill references. Can't find a hill or a connection to James J Hill or any thing hilly. There are lots of piles of snow near the parking lots and roads.
They have made soooooo many hill references. It fits great with Como. I dug over by the glorious sledding hill.
Is there anyone thinking Central and if so how does hill fit in?
I thought it was a tribute hunt back at clue 7, that's why I thought I checked Snail Lake Regional Park since 2015 was tribute hunt and that is where the puck was found. Then I was confused if I should have looked at the park Jim Ragsdale, who the tribute was for, if I should have checked the park, he first hid the puck at.
Chaos indeed. I've got to start with a fresh set of eyes.
I think 70 years was last year - started in 52. Though with years with multiple hunts who knows what number hunt we are at. On Mon, Jan 30, 2023 at 5:41 PM Allison Wonderland via groups.io <AllisonWondrland=yahoo.com@groups.io> wrote:
Is it? 70 years maybe? Although referencing them without it meaning something specific would certainly cause some chaos. David

Isn't this a special anniversary of the hunt? I am thinking that all the clues reference different winners as a recognition of all the years the hunt has been going and it has been found every time.

The Dale West side of Central has a hill along the north side. It has a ball-field (the Rosetown Rockets american legion baseball team plays there). I can make several connections to this side of central, but I'm broken because at this point in the hunt, you'd expect more people to be in the same park...and there just aren't many people out digging there. Where are the masses? There were 0 cars at Phalen last night, at least in the main lot that I scoped out. Como relatively quiet last night also. Interesting hunt...hopefully the explanations aren't whack!

I think there are still a lot of good Como arguments. I was never that sold on Central but I can see those arguments. Some things may make one think Harriet Island. I would say it's definitely not at Battle Creek. They would never use battle in Clue 1 if it was and I don't think other clues fit that well. But at this point I still have to think Phalen. Clue 7 just fits him too well and that's about the clue where they might give us something like that. And then Clue 8 with the Zelensky tie in to the 73 Phalen find just seems too definitive. There's still a fair number of things that I can't make sense of, but that's not too surprising when you look at some past Clue explanations. And I even did a lot of research on Phalen for the WC Scavenger Hunt! If a clarinet shows up in the clues, I'll know exactly what that means! Lol
I was positive it was Harriet Island and kinda gave up with the last couple clues. It's interesting to hear you still talking about it. Makes me want to reconsider.
If that is referencing a “round” lake that’s another plank in the phalen platform. The smallest lake in that “chain” is round lake. Originally I thought that line was a reference to the Mississippi- which separates the east side ( generous boundary) from the west side and goes all around the town of St. Paul.
I'm with you Denise. I am wondering if the clue about Edward Phelan is telling you to get out of that park? "Better pack up and get outta this place" There some interesting photos over by the Pony ride zone in the online Treasure Hunter's guide as well. One of the photos on the site is a sign with east lot, west lot, and trolley directions. Eastside, westside all around the town. And it is over by where Kaufman and Midway intersect that fit clues as well. All over where you are talking about with the lighted arch and pony rides. I am still going to look at Como. Who knows...... :)
LOL alfabob... I was in that mob on the wooded slope. No more hunting for me this year. The smash and grab guy at the Como Pavilion took that away from me. I can't get my window fixed until next Monday. Hard to believe the glass shops are so backed up that it takes a week to get you in. I no longer feel safe. Anyways it could be the two arched bridges by the streetcar. Not sure they are lit. I did a lot of hunting on hills by Labyrinth and the open gates above the Pavilion.

The Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt is part of the St. Paul Winter Carnival every year. While the prize can only go to one winner, The Allison Wonderland is dedicated to the community spirit of treasure hunting. Here, not only will you find out about the Pre-Dig Gig, the Rehash Bash, and various other social events, but we also discuss the clues here in a team effort to decipher them (albeit not always successfully). This is a place to discuss ideas respectfully, report on what's happening "on the ground", and provide each other with useful information. This is a public group so expect that anything posted will be seen by everyone.
