And just like that another turn of events. I would have never gotten it. I missed it. I didn't see it. My god there are some amazing noodlers. Good Luck, now it's just the rat race.....
This is all about the treasure hunter history. We are the clues. The story is found in the cooler crew/treasure hunt headquarters. What we know so far. The choice between St. Paul parks and Ramsey County parks has been made in clue 1. (you make the choice to the one you see) I'm with Vulcan. They key has been provided on how to solve the mystery was in clue 2. (The history of the hunt) We are given a mathematical formula on how to reach our conclusion. By using 1/3 as the source. In clue 3 we are given a certain background to look into. A writer, more than one sage. We have Jim Ragsdale "Rags", Don Boxmeyer "Box" and 2 Steve's. One Steve is hailed as a medallion finder and the other is know as the one who lost it all. This bit will be referenced to in the later clues. I think by the time we get to clue 4 we are reminder of the nick names used "Handle" and hunters are considered the "Vandals" (Search, Don't Destroy! And may Cooler Heads prevail!) By the time we get to clue 6 we are told a year, this is a repeat park (of sorts) If the park you are looking at does not have a Lake or Woods, you are 100% in the wrong place. In all honesty I am looking at the 2015 hunt in comparison. Snail Lake or perhaps Vadnais-Snail Lakes Regional. Which could be new while being old. By the way Vadnais comes from the Champange region of France. Or I could totally be wrong.......
Anyone still have any parks on the back burner?
From Clue 4, we had "No need to be vandal to get a good handle" which looks a lot like the last lines to Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues",
The pump don't work
'cause the vandals took the handles'
Which, I thought, was a pretty easy jump to Highway 61, Blues Highway ->Phalen.
But, anything "subterranean" felt like it could still be in play -> Highland, Swede and Lilydale.
In clue 5, we had some "lost" "land", so I didn't rule out Swede or Lilydale
In clue 6 we had "it was once said to have lain", so I didn't rule out Swede or Lilydale, as they each been used once
Clue 7 felt like a play on words, and I couldn't shake "who hailed from this waterway" as being some kind of play on water-way = ford and ford parkway
Curious what everyone else's thoughts are?
Question for David, or anyone else that may be able to clarify -
Lilydale is in both Ramsey and Dakota counties. The 2010 medallion location was south of the Ramsey border below Annapolis and in line with Sutcliff Circle, according to multiple maps. The official rules do not specify, as far as I know, that all of Lilydale is in bounds or only the Ramsey portion. As far as you know, is all of Lilydale in bounds, or is past precedent not worth following?
I think with clues 2 and 3 talking about literary things, I better go back and re-read all the clues like I am reading literature, not directions. hmmmm this writer is really messin with us. "Dink", "get" and "kitchen" are all terms that refer to types of shots, or in the case of "kitchen", an area of the court which is next to the net. "Until the kitchen is raised" implies the nets are not yet up. As for "properly geared", when pickleball started to gain traction, pickle ball clothing became so mainstream that even Target carried a line of clothing specifically for the sport. Use of the word "geared", in my opinion, likely has additional meaning. Happy hunting!
So pickle ball courts are at Phalen and it has the lake, and golf, bunker, ... JT - that is what I am thinking. I also double checked, I don't see any pickleball courts in the Keller renovation but I haven't been there, yet, either. There are pickleball courts in the Phalen rec center with portable nets. I am also curious if the Johnson Parkway Tennis courts are painted for pickleball. Yesterday's clue had me split between north and south with the getaway -> gateway anagram and Edward St and Phalen Pl being right there, but then on the other end, we had "Look for a bird" possibly being "Lady Bird Johnson" and Johnson Parkway following Phalen Creek.
So today's clue is a reference to a tennis and/or pickleball court. That should eliminate Pig's Eye and Lilydale, so definitely don't spend any time there.
I'll tell you it is definitely in St. Paul.
We've been definitively given 3 street names, possibly a 4th.
If the clues sound like they're trying to communicate something to you logically, they are not. It's mostly key words and phrases strung together.
It turns out all of clue 3 is really just talking about one thing.
Clue 2 is not about Larry Millett.
So there are your extra hints for today! Sorry I can't just outright share since a lot of what I know came from others.
