i for one like the who's here list on the bottom. problem is, its not as easily visible that you've got a live message waiting for you then. should i move it up top instead? back to the left side? right side?
I like it at the bottom. I rarely get live messages, so I don't care. For someone who does, be aware that you have to look.
i receive enough of them that i've been known to not notice one show up while in member folders where its on the bottom. in light of that, i may actually move it up top. but thats the beauty of this. it can always be moved at a later point :)
Breeze without borders. I'm not sure I like it, but then again I'm pretty concrete-sequential.
Ares, thanks for posting the whit background JPG. I was dumb enough to click on it. O.K I feel like a moron for being curious as to what a white background would look like. I'm havin one of those days.

of course now i've got myself wondering how easy it qould be to create a nice floating who's here bar a la the geocities ad window, or drop it in a frame somewhere so it always shows.

The best place for the lurker bar imo would be right above the Members Tools - but I bet it won't go there.
The other thing that I think would help with the overall appearance is if the box one types messages in was centered. I know it's possible - but it might mean centering all the text in the messages as well. 6 of one...half dozen of the other.
A nice soft aqua-like colored blue (medallion color) would be oh so pretty as a background color...but white works too.
In the end it doesn't matter much. It's just nice we have a place to gather.
well, we'll see what tomorrow brings for that. i lose control of how the place looks right below the join line above, and the lurker line below. with the exception of the background. outside of these areas, i have full control, and with the use of style sheets, i can control, to a certain extentm the appearance of the text within the message area. however, i have asked lance if there's a way to replace the text in the member toolbar with icons, along with the already icon-ified post/check/etc. buttons.
what i'd really like to do, but i don't know if its possible would be to frame up the whole place, such that the header will always be constant, and the footer will always be constant, with a scrolly window in between. i may have to talk with my buddy who's really good with javascript about the feasability of doing such a thing.
I also like the lurker list on the side, thats one thing I don't like about Pants, because I usually don't make it to the bottom of the page. Maybe the top would be ok, haven't seen it that way.

I like the slate-blue --I dont like it all bright-thats just me-not always into neon unless its pink :)
I dont like when you highlight with your mouse the slate turns to neon blue still -gotta change that color to something else.

yes dear, yes dear, and yes dear. i'm just playing around and seeing what all i can do first. the snowflakes might take some work, but with a bit of coding should be do-able.
imagine that. i sit in front of the 'puter coding all day long, and what do i come home and do? write more code. just for the fun of it.

don't worry, its not permanent. but, you'll notice that little guy up in the upper right corner. somewhere in the javascript that makes it snow in here is the code to make a blob of text stay in one spot on the page.
though it may be kinda fun to have int the medallion hunt folder during the pp hunt.

haven't figured it out yet, marley, but i haven't spent a whole lot of time this weekend looking at the code either. a guy's gotta have his pryorities straight and all :)
good news, guys. it looks like i may even be able to get this to a point where i can customise the buttons, the message area, everything. it's just gonna take a bit of work on my part. so sayeth lance. not that i have a problem with doing this or anything. there's just gonna be some homework to be done first is all.

It looks good all though I liked the snow but probally would get annoying after awhile! Maybe bring out the snow in Jan. that would be Cooler then cool!

well me2, the family story right now is a long one, but I'll make this short and fill you in later. my 15 year old ran away from home, (he was living with his dad) got caught shoplifting at sears, and tried to break into someones house and is facing some felony charges now. I just pray that they finally do something instead of slapping him on the hand and telling him he's a bad boy! gonna be a long year I think :(

thanx guys :) this is really what needed to happen, when he does stupid things at home there is nothing you can do about it, but when it involves a third party it's a totally different story. I'm just glad that the guy called me cuz he wasn't gonna press charges, he wanted to give chris "a break". I pretty much told him that chris has had enough "breaks" and needs to face the music this time, It's the only way he's gonna learn.
