Buggs Bar is in South St Paul on Concord about a block away from South City Motors (Don and Mikes dealership) ... We typically noodle there with Snodgrass!
I was thinking Central park too! I know that yesterday somebody mentioned that scoot could be a reference to a train track. Diggin-4-it-again said that there is a train track that runs along Central park. I also got that the "stuck" could refer to being stuck by a rose=ROSEville. I don't know, I just think that since it doesn't say St. Paul yet, it could be a possibility.
Art - I did not go to SSP ... but I did hang around a bunch of those folks in HS as I dated a girl back then from SSP. Don went to SSP, Jake's from Cottage Grove and I was a Johnson (st paul) grad.
I am not totally sure - but I do vaguely remember train tracks down there - I have to do some digging - but my MN house - is in Little Canada, so as a kid, I spent most of my time in Roseville park as it was close to the house, and we could ride our bikes there etc.. (i was in awe over the boardwalks - loved them)
there are some businesses down the road from there too - think any of them are a scooter store? (was my first impression - if I am to delve into the 1st clue meaning more than 'in a park')
Something about the way they mentioned the frozen water leads me to believe that maybe it's not "real" water. We know these writers like to send us the wrong way and possibly they are trying to get us thinking about lakes and rivers so we forget the other parks.
AW pointed out that it probably isn't a fountain beacause the water is turned off in the winter time to things like that.
But could there be another frozen water reference? Murals, signs anything?
Seems like there's a lot of ways these 2 clues could go. I think after a couple more, some of the parks should start getting eliminated. I've thought up another new idea for next year's hunt, should prove helpful.
Could it mean a park that has a natural spring water like out of a rock or something. I know at Beaver Creek State park in southern MN the water that flows out of a mini mountian is ice cold. Could it be a man-made body of water? I think that drinking fountain could be a good idea. Man I love this!!
Green - We will induct the next Medallionator on Tuesday ... watch our website for details on it! ( www.Medallionators.com) for those of you whom haven't been there.Â
History Ramsey County was a pioneer of indoor ice arenas. The county ventured into the ice arena business in 1962 with the opening of Aldrich Arena. At that time, Aldrich was one of a handful of indoor ice arenas within the State of Minnesota. The facility was so popular that the State Legislature authorized the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners to issue bonds for construction of nine additional ice arenas. Between 1971 and 1975, nine additional arenas were built, one in each of the county's legislative districts. These facilities serve over 700,000 skaters and spectators each year. With ten indoor ice arenas, Ramsey County has more ice arenas than any other agency in the state."
Ice Digger - I 'officially' graduated in 96, however my Jr and Sr year I was full time PSEO at St Thomas University so I never actually attended classes at Johnson ... just played on the Golf Team, and believe it or not:Â I was on the Math Team with Ares (aka Jason) ... run with that ... want a photo of him on it with me in HS on our site???
outta - I think you can so much as write the clues on a napkin for the extra cash.
Mystical- I've been at Stanford since September. This summer I was hanging out with my high school friends a lot before we all had to say goodbye. I'm back now (well, at least online). Also, I've been showing the hunt to a bunch of friends out here... they're really getting into it.
If you have a birthday in January then you get to drink for FREE and a FREE dinner on Wednesday nightwhen you bring 5 friends in--sooooo, you lucky bastards!: AW, Becksie and OTS (hehe) - you should be there! I'll be one of your 5 friends :)
hey Diggin, nice idea- I tried to take a better look at hat strange pharagraph thismorning when reading it outloud to Trent- at first last night I thought it really probly didnt mean squat cause it already gave us ICE- (diamonds, permanent ice skating rink) -but it still looks fishy!

"While time away" - away from St Paul - or to go on vacation - a clock -a watch- to watch time pass while sitting on a bench -a sunset - aging

Shoot I can make the clues fit Rice Park in Downtown... Many references to Ice (ice sculptures). While Time Away, isn't there a clock on the landmark center?

Porky's is open in the winter? My schedule is pretty busy this week though.

Just testing. Sorry to intrude.

Just making sure this still works
I am just throwing this out here -haven't had much time to noodle - but I am still feeling it's Central Park in Roseville.
Lots of frozen water there -and they have the boardwalks in the weeds during the summer... so you have 'paths' to walk on the water.
Hay, Kitty! Have you seen The Movie? You're in it! (If you're *the* Kitty...) Welcome back!
Medallionater Eric, I knew some people that went there and graduated in 97. SInce you said S. St. Paul I thought it might click.
Man! It is so nice out!
Snowblower must have bad gas...It keeps konking out.
I should stop abusing it.

OTS is in left field again:
