If only I had five friends. That is kind of a neat deal. Where is the Rockin Lobster again? I would like to go some night when a bunch of you coolerheads are down there and get to know you better.

1.
         1. To pass from the liquid to the solid state by loss of heat.
         2. To acquire a surface or coat of ice from cold: The lake froze over in January. Bridges freeze before the adjacent roads.
   2. To become clogged or jammed because of the formation of ice: The pipes froze in the basement.
   3. To be at that degree of temperature at which ice forms: It may freeze tonight.
   4. To be killed or harmed by cold or frost: They almost froze to death. Mulch keeps garden plants from freezing.
   5. To be or feel uncomfortably cold: Aren't you freezing without a coat?
   6.
         1. To become fixed, stuck, or attached by or as if by frost: The lock froze up with rust.
         2. To stop functioning properly, usually temporarily: My computer screen froze when I opened the infected program.
   7.
         1. To become motionless or immobile, as from surprise or attentiveness: I heard a sound and froze in my tracks.
         2. To become unable to act or speak, as from fear: froze in front of the audience.
   8. To become rigid and inflexible; solidify: an opinion that froze into dogma.

The old curmudgeon was in high dudgeon
When a critter ran off with the loot
But this year to be credible, we've made it inedible
And stuck it in a park - so scoot!

a crusty, ill-tempered, and usually old man-Joe Souch or or man river/"old curmudgeon" is a term that has been used to describe newspaper journalists. kind of like calling an old writer an old hack.

was in A state or fit of intense indignation; resentment; ill humor

when the racoon took off with the med last year,

(Loot) Us bank on top of hill at crosby,

Its in a park and not just on public property
Strech here but S oto ave =scoot? South central part of park? SC oto?
---------------------------------------------------

Clue #2
Snow we have missed
much, this not very
white Christmas
But the ice has come
to stay
The water's quite frozen
at this park we have
chosen
Along its paths you
may while the time away
---------------------------------------
White Christmas Bing Crosby (or Irvine)
White Christmas..... inedible
Cd Case?

Ice has come to stay=treasure in ice.
Why do they mention ice and then frozen water? Twice?

The water is frozen-Ice and water sign is on top of the hill by enterance to crosby. Crosby has a "water gate" marina

You can while the time away along crosbys paths around the frozen water (lake) in either the benches along it or a chair made out of a tree stump. You would "While time away" because of the marker signs along the paths that tell you how far away you are from the lot in minutes.

I think they would give the park early because of the size and scope of the park. More time to narrow the search.

first letters of the first four lines in the clue it spells BATS- cave at enterance to crosby

Kitch a Medallionator ... maybe down the line.  He has not expressed an interest.  Although as you all know he has had a beer with us at Buggs on the pre-noodle.

Well if it is at crosby (which I'm really not convinced it is), I'd rather not hunt there at night...

Mon, 01/24/2005 - 1:40 PM Permalink

at least don't hunt alone, however, I think if you're not sitting in a car, waiting for a "ride" you'll probably be ok.

I'd have to be more convinced before I searched there though. Crosby is huge, I'm not worried that someone will trip over the loot there quite yet.

mikey- way impressive, I guess you can do those kindsa things when you have all those digital gadgets. I still use film. And I use my computer by kerosene lamp.
I guess I've always blasted right down the hill at crosby- It's been a fave of mine forever. It has THE BEST fire pit in the cities.

I remember when I hid my Mock Hunt Treasure along the creek at Battle Creek, The stream was definitely not frozen there which kind of surprised me.

If you have a birthday in January then you get to drink for FREE and a FREE dinner on Wednesday night when you bring 5 friends in--sooooo, you lucky bastards!: AW, Becksie and OTS (hehe) - you should be there!

That kind of sucks because Wednesday is the one day I will definitely not be there at all. Tonight, tomorrow, and Thursday I have things going on until 8 or 9. Friday I'm taking my singles club out hunting adn we'll all be at the Rockin Lobster. Saturday I've booked myself pretty well between 3 and midnight, though I might still get out in time for the clue. Sunday I'm free all day though.

I have to confess that I also thought Mears, relating to the Lowertown Clock.  In fact, I'm headed there tonight.  So, this is going to be a very short hunt if it is there.

our 'pre-noodle' is traditionally done the night before the P-D-G, we actually call ours the P-F-G since we actually are Finders not Diggers !!!  Meet at Buggs any night after Wednesday and I am sure will be there!

don't forget....i'll tell ya before me2 does..

that cave was used for mining of glass,

then for boat storage...and up until the year the st. paul jaycees haunted house..

why because only one exit now due to a cave in....

needs 2 exits for the haunted house....

I just got back from playing in the snow with TC, ares and Zeph.  I came home via Battle Creek Zone 3.  The parking lot isn't open and I didn't get out to see if the creek is frozen.  I just wanted to see if the lot was open and didn't think of it.

This place is very slow today!  It's going to take me forever to catch up.

BTW.  The frog pond is frozen over.  Pictures later.

Last year, Rockin' Lobster did not treat the cooler crew very well. Also, the service was awful and the food/drinks were expensive. A few folks have been checking out other places downtown where we can hang before clue time. The Radisson lounge doesn't work because the don't allow people under 21 after 9pm, even with their families.

Last night a bunch of people went to Great Waters. We were cheerfully welcomed, the beer was great (and slightly cheaper than the Lobster), and they serve food until 10ish. They are also looking into hanging a sign outside that says, "Home of the Cooler Crew". A number of us will be there again tonight. Please join if you can.
