The park is named after Thomas Crosby, an English immigrant who staked out 160 acres in the valley southwest of the present-day junction of Shepard Road and Interstate 35E in 1858. Before Crosby's death in 1886, the farm became one of the largest and longest running in the West End and Highland Park area. A succession of families farmed it between 1902 and 1962. The Saint Paul Port Authority purchased the land in the early 1960s and leased it to the City for park use. Today, Crosby's potential as a nature area accessible to the public may be realized.
Well, one thing about crosby is most of the woodlands/floodplains aren't in too much danger of a trampling of a 12th hunt clue. If it is at crosby, the following clues better start pointing the park out and narrowing down the search area. That place is huge.
This clue is the same one that's on the PP's website.
PP board has reached a 90%+ consensus of Crosby Park and Farm. After reading through their explanations, it makes a whole lot of sense. Wouldn't be a huge surprise if the hunt is over in the next 24 hours, however after getting some specs on Crosby, it may go to 10 clues. Again, I don't see the hunt going the distance.
most people knew about phalen early on in the hunt last year, and it still went all 12, granted the mishap with the donut, the medallion was still in the general area. Trouble is clues just kept referencing the park, not narrowing in on a target area in that park.
True enough, KC0GRN. I had it at Phalen last year after Clue #4, and you saw what happened.
It's a major hassle to get out to Crosby from here without a car, but perhaps I may have to haul my ashes out there and take a look around later in the week.
True there's no 'coons in these here woods Cept worn as hats or different goods But if you want to score the find You'll have to face creatures of a different kind

I am pretty confident that this thing will still be out there Monday morning unless they significantly cut down the possible space it could be in Crosby, which I think is unlikely. More likely is they will tell us what it's in at somepoint (if they already haven't), then they will tell us Crosby again and again. But we'll see. Good luck to everyone out there, this is going to be like finding a needle in a haystack.
Just got back from trudgeing around Crosby with Clue Master, Me2, LAM, Outta, Lilman, Reg, Chris, Mucluck, Chris, Mikey, and Mappy, and I think Tim summed it up... it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack.. there's just too much space to cover, that park is HUGE!! LOL we had a blast tho :)
Today's Clue -- January 26, 2004 The siren calls, the giant falls 'Tween field generals the poet sings That down beyond the once blue pond Is treasure fit for kings
Clue #3 -- January 25, 2004 Be safe and we pledge, neither cliff nor water's edge Figures in your hunting pursuit What's that you hear? Please, have no fear It was there before we moved in
Clue #2 -- January 24, 2005 Snow we have missed much, this not very white Christmas But the ice has come to stay The water's quite frozen at this park we have chosen Along its paths you may while time away
Clue #1 -- January 23 The old curmudgeon was in high dudgeon When a critter ran off with the loot But this year to be credible, we've made it inedible And stuck it in a park — so scoot!
Crosby is about a mile across, and a half a mile wide, give or take a little, that's still a lot of space, especially considering most of that is woods.
you can park on that dead end street, but I don't reccomend it, many cars have gotten broken into there.
As for the walk, it's not too bad, I've done much worse walking, I'm just trying to figure out if it's there, where would they put it. They seem to like woods lately...
That's what I was thinking too, it seems a good fit for everything listed so far.
Have you done the other crosby caches? the woodlands past the lake are enormous, and there's paths all over the place. Not too hard to get lost back there either.
I'd be surprised if this hunt went past clue 7. I haven't seen such consensus on a park on Clue #4 since the "Cuomo without you" clue in 97. Unless it's hidden real well, the hunters are going to start to swarm the area starting tomorrow and it will turn up.
My brain can't takes no more. I'm done. Goodnight everyone.

Could the "once blue pond" be referring to the old Hamm's Beer slogan, From The Land Of Sky Blue Waters?
Nytol. SCD and MCL. I'm toddlin', too. Thanks again, Stal!

this is as obvious as it's going to get until clue 12, crosby farm here we come.
ANY nice girls here?
See ya there Mikey.
unless there's the ol switcheroo on clue 10, still a 12 clue game in the works...
They would never do that *cough*Harriet*cough*

'Tween field generals the poet sings

Clue #3 -- January 25, 2004
Be safe and we pledge, neither cliff nor water's edge
Figures in your hunting pursuit

Snow we have missed much, this not very white Christmas

Clue #1 -- January 23
The old curmudgeon was in high dudgeon
When a critter ran off with the loot
But this year to be credible, we've made it inedible
And stuck it in a park — so scoot!
Yeah if it's there, it's gotta be narrowed down, or this one will go to 12 clues unless someone is VERY lucky.
I dunno how far back we walked but it had to be at least a mile or 2... lol or at least it seemed like it!
Crosby is about a mile across, and a half a mile wide, give or take a little, that's still a lot of space, especially considering most of that is woods.
well wut sux is that you can't drive up to the end of the parkinglot... if you could... it would make things A LOT easier.
ugh my feet are KILLING me!! My tennies suck!

If the clues keep going that way, crosby is gonna be one crowded park come the weekend... parking may be a pain more then than now.
KCOGRNÂ My thoughts are near GC9FA6
