Could be argued the Mississippi would fit as a long view of history...
okay....
so....after a long night of not really hunting, last night, i came home and slept for the first time in... who knows how long.... woke up with phalen and mounds still on my mind, so headed to Mounds... still not sure if I like its possibilities, mostly because I'm having a hard time fitting things there.... besides the obvious stuff thats been pointed out/talked about at the paper last night....
So i came home to my own park - Phalen....
the part of the park that always bothers me.... did in 04, during the WC hunt, and is again now.... is the archery range part.... between Phalen and Keller... theres a path that leads there from Phalen (find a trail and you wont be failin').... and also.... what I forgot about til I was there... is that if you cross that bridge/dam thats right there, theres a small dirt path that leads you up whats been refered to since my grandparents were kids, as "Beer Can Hill"... could be a stretch, but... it refers to liquor? also... in that portion of the park...is where the Gateway Trail - bike trail is... leading us back to the discussions about the gates at Como, from the other night.....given also the fact that its a bike path so its actually "in the ground", one could take that a bit farther, and recall that where the trail is, used to be train tracks.... they took em out when they put the bike trail in (we've covered our tracks)....
and going from all the Johnson talks from last night, and now again reading it on here....
Im surprised no ones mention the ice arena behind the school yet.... its name is the "Gustafson - Phalen Ice Arena".... I'm having trouble remebering from my freshman connections class like 10 years ago, who the Gustafson is, that it was named after.... but the thing that is kind of hitting me as strange about the building, is that its not even owned by JHS....its just on their spot, and they rent it for use of the Govies and Hawks teams.... infact theres a sign right infront of the place, that says "Operated by Ramsey County Parks and Rec"..... now I know its not St. Paul Parks.... but... its still parks and rec, nonetheless.... and if they've fooled us into thinking they wouldnt put the WC med, at a rec center, and then dumped it at Conway....who's to say they wouldnt use a school?
Especially since theres little chance of someone at the actual school stumbling over it, since as Alice Cooper put it - "Schools out for summer"....
I think thats all I had in my head for the past few hours....
<<< wore the snoopy costume in the payne ave parade in 1999....
that comedian dude Louis Anderson that hosted family feud and stuff for a while went there too....
although I dont think he graduated either...think he dropped out, or something...
CM has a thing with Jake?!?!?
But why would he spend time in the woods with me, then?!?!
Besides, I thought you were the one who came up with that brilliant clue that pointed us to Minnehaha Falls. I've been searching there all day with no luck. Where were you smart guy? :goofy:  :sheepish:

How do you adjust the time? Mine is off by 2 hours. And can you adjust how many posts are displayed at a time so I don't have to click MORE like a gazillion times?
You'll get used to it.
I'm home for grub.
a few of us will be at GWs around 9:30
They're there and I see evidence almost daily.
Check out http://www.geocaching.com for "treasure" hunting everyday.

Found with notsmike. Tough hide. I had given up when he spotted it.
This was probably our most interesting cache of the day. We did not see any creatures from the open space in the woods, but upon returning to the parking spot we did spot a rather strange person. Bare foot, no shirt, long hair in tail. Not that his appearance was all that strange, but he sure was. It all started with him asking us for help starting his car. Notsmike, being the good samaritan he is, "said sure."
While Mike was moving his truck, I watched the guy rummaging around inside his car for something. I was thinking maybe, gun? Was glad to see him come up with a screwdriver. He then mumbled something about having to jump the starter because the solenoid was shot. Of course, to do that he had to jack up the car which immediately rolled off the jack. I expressed my concern about not being able to lift the car off of him, but he did not seem too worried. He said he had faith that I probably find a way. He finally got the wheels blocked so that stopped happening. Notsmike got the batteries hooked and the guy slid under the car to jump the connections. Sparks! I thought things were going to start exploding soon. Turns out the ignition was not on or the tranny was not in park. So, the guy gets out giggling about how he is really mad at his girlfriend because she broke all his music, threw him out and he had been sleeping in his car. I could say something hear about how women just do not seem to understand, but I won't.
KB should be able to relate to this poor creatures anger. Turns out that not only was his solenoid shot, but there
was also no ignition thingy to put a key. The screwdriver was multi-purpose, key and jumper. Now, I am starting to wonder who really owned this car. Well, he got the ignition on and tranny in park and finally the engine started. He was a very friendly creature but it is the first time I have witnessed anyone crawling under a car bareback on hot asphalt. He really has to be from the open space. Who says geocaching can't be exciting.
Thanks KB.
Stop sneaking up on me, you know how nervous I am!
Keep in mind these incidents took place between 2 & 3 in the morning.
Now that I think of it, we fit right in. A diverse group like ourselves walking around in the middle of the night poking around trees and dried up waterfalls only to set up camp in the middle of a tarred path. At least I was able to sign my name before I left to take sleep beauty back to his car.
It was nice meeting your mom last night Timmers. Glad pops was finally able to drag her out with us. Even though I'm kicking myself over some of the stupid things that came out of my mouth a few times.
Hopefully we'll have even more strangeness tonight.
Is she standing right there? Gulp
She is gonna come out tonight too... could it be a beginning of an addiction?
No wonder that comment about your dads whiskers tickling her went off with a thud. :eyeroll: :sheepish:
LOL!
I'll need to watch myself more carefully so I don't scare her or make her worry about her little baby.
Here are my thoughts. Could the covering our tracks park of the clue be referring to Phalen. I was reading today that Wheelock PKY had been redone and you are still able to see the former route due to the tree pattern.
Thanks again for a such a great site- see ya tonight at the PP.
I'll be the dorky guy with the Metallica shirt on. Pop over and give me a kick if ya see me.
