Recent Clues:

Clue #1 Congrats to the finder, to all a reminder
To hunt hard from first to last clues
Medallion I is history. Now a new mystery
Begins -- strap on your hunting shoes

To some its demented, for all unprecedented
But hunters’ thirst must be quenched
Tell sister and brother we’ve hidden another
In a park where a body can be benched

Our 2nd prize? Don’t laugh -- 10-thou cut in half
So get out there even if it’s snowy
And as a special bonus -- some might say an onus --
A meal with our own Clueless Joey

Good hunting to you, let this be the first clue
Think of a woodsy retreat
It won’t be so hard if you channel the bard
You’ll get warm and smell pretty sweet
Clue #2 If you\'re thinking big you\'re sure to dig
Near flora with growing pain
Winter or summer is never a bummer
A menagerie of fun wild or tame
Clue #3 Success on the third clue will never do
We had to stash a second
Round you go if you seek to know
Where swatters of orbs are beckoned
Clue #4: A walk in the park can be a lark
If cell phones are left at home
Heed the siren of your desirin\'
And do not revolt against this poem
Clue #5 Over hill and dale hit the trail
With a handy locating device
Fulfill your wishes like loaves and fishes
And put your victory on ice
Clue #6 A famous singer and a diamond dinger
Might put you oh so close to the spot
With the whites of your eyes you should look for the prize
Within this convenient plot
Clue #7 Don\'t turn up your noses at the city of roses
The home of the park that you seek
It\'s just north of town so come on down
Our hunt is not for the meek
Clue #8 Don\'t go mental just head for Central
Lexington Avenue will show you the way
Your spirits won\'t sag when you see the big flag
Into the trees you want to stray

does everyone agree on the victory on ice - brooks connection? what about fisk - diamond dinger? oswald was framed (but by whom?) and elvis is an alien? (still alive/up north)

that's the funny thing about it. the p&r people don't let the pp hide anything. anywhere. the pp just drops it and moves on.

it may not be coincidince either. tc thought the exact same thing when we opened up the paper this morning.

I got it, "with the whites of your eyes" maybe someone has a fake eye in the park and they have the medallion in its place, lets go find him.

For the Como believers, please enlighten me to the hand held locating device fit for Como?
Mon, 01/29/2007 - 1:28 PM Permalink

hrmm. i thought par took it and gave it to her.

In Como, hidden in a GPS.... :worried:

I've never hunted with the crew.

What does that make me? :worried:

Other than old I mean.

no, but you've been in here, and we have seen you at a rehash haven't we. that's good enough

agree. rule out maplewood, rosville and parts of the park/rec centers that are not st. paul, or is that too easy? did anyone hear am1500 when jake called in last thursday? funny!

Ok, cool!

But I'm still bringing my grandchildren in the shopping cart float.. :goofy:

I'm thinking they dont actually do the winter carnival clue writing and stuff at the Pioneer Press building; probably off site in some secret place.
Mon, 01/29/2007 - 1:40 PM Permalink
Brassmonkey

I think they write it there. When we were upstairs it appeared that Carolyn knew who the CW/CW'S are. We tried for the info and guessed at some people and I tried to judge reactions, my best guess is Par Ridder.

Wow! The bird's-eye view on that site are incredible!

How do they keep it secret? I mean leaks happen all the time from employees and all.

It is amazing when you think about it. maybe I should have asked her who the second gunmen was on the grassy knoll??
Mon, 01/29/2007 - 1:46 PM Permalink

btw, the diamond dinger/famous singer thing could be Pete Rose/Janis Joplin. There was a movie made about Janis Joplin in 1979 called "The Rose".

That is a great map on live.com!! Thanks Ares

you're welcome. the imagery is so good you can almost see me flipping the bird to the camera.

well, not really, but the detail is so good all the way zoomed in that you can actually clearly see individual highway lanes, vehicles, railroad tracks, etc.

I don't think that it could be any other park than Central. The clues fit so well. I really think that they have hid it there. I don't think that they would have hid it in Como three times in six years.
Mon, 01/29/2007 - 1:57 PM Permalink
King Boreas aka Ian

a diamond dinger is not a person. it is a ball that is hit over the fence. period.

~edit~ ... if used as a baseball reference
Mon, 01/29/2007 - 1:58 PM Permalink
Brassmonkey

OK, they have taped the medallion to a sign as the dot for an I.
Mon, 01/29/2007 - 1:59 PM Permalink

Lets see, the clues practically fit two of the largest parks i know and they really havent narrowed it down that well. This should be easy, just go dig and find it.....

It hasn't been found in Highland since 1994

handy locating device could be that look-out tower off snelling
Mon, 01/29/2007 - 2:11 PM Permalink
queenmalley

It would fit that rotation that Jake was after with his win in hunt one
Mon, 01/29/2007 - 2:11 PM Permalink

Highland has that circus school, alot of churches, snelling was some general, highland~I~, orbs are golf.

I honestly thought they would never put it in Central Park. The park signs all say "Roseville Parks" These parks are maintained by the city of Roseville, not St. Paul, not Ramsey County....but it is public land IN Ramsey county

The PP is just a buisiness, not a government. The PP doesn't take care of the St Paul parks either.

I was in highland three days ago when the siren clue came out, I like it there as well as mounds. but Central fits the easiest.

Tonight is = to clue 10, we should have the park nailed once and for all. looking back through the years it is usually blatently described in clue 9,10 or 11 at the latest. :frown:       :ooh:  :sheepish: :worried: :asleep: :eyeroll:  :coolfrown: :lipsealed: :pbpt:  :goofy:

The sirens led me to Highland. I doubt it's there, but there is a police station right there in the park. My wife and I shared the whole place with a dog walker and one other hunter yesterday.
