Of the 19 men who hijacked the planes that hit the tower, he said: "I think they were brave at the very least." He then asked for a show of hands from those who would act as suicide bombers for their country, but none was raised, the Providence Journal reported
A fewer other highlights from Turner's speech:
• On the 2000 election: "A few more votes in Florida, and we could have had the best environmental president we ever had. Now we've got an oil man. He (President Bush) is like another Julius Caesar. Just what we need."
• On property rights: "You buy it and you can share it," Turner told a student from Montana who asked if he'd allow public access to his vast landholdings in that state. "Can I live in your home with you? We believe in private property in this country."
Does anyone else have a problem with this? Of course, I admit to ripping Dave Dahl's little picture off the weather page every morning and ripping it into a thousand pieces, but . . . . Should the government use our hatred of binLaden as a money-making scheme? Is a "dunk Osama" booth at the state capitol next?
what i don't get is that the proceeds from the lottery are supposed to go to fund our natural and economic environments, etc. i read that the proceeds from ticket sales of this ticket would go to fund anti-terrorism activities. how's that supposed to work?

Telecom has ordered an investigation into how Auckland businessman James Storrie received the $140 charge shown on his monthly mobile phone bill.
"How can they speak to their clients like this? It's downright rude," Storrie told the New Zealand Herald newspaper, which carried his photograph holding the objectionable bill.
Telecom spokesman Martin Freeth said the company was appalled and embarrassed by the rude statement and had made an offer of compensation.
"We've apologized and taking steps to stop anything like this...it's an aberration," Freeth told Reuters.
ya know, if you get a 747 into a stall at 5000 feet without the landing gear down, you can actually slide along on the belly at full power. pull back on the stick and you can even get the gear to go down if you bounce just right. or so i learned from ms flight sim last nite.
those are bloody scary pics. the second one, at least, looks real, with the shadow and all.
Hi all, I just wanted to say howdy. J.T, thanks for the forum. The one on the new "site" is a piece of dung. It's probably a good thing for me it went away, I was spending way too much time there. So who from the cooler is here? I will stop by now and then but it's good to see you all on a good forum. Once againm. Thanks J.T.
BTW Ares and Ian. I have been to that airport at St.Marten (spelling depends if you are on the French or Dutch side of Island.) Those pics are real but actually quite common. That approach is the only way into the runway, because what you don't see is that it's a very very short runway and at the other end is about a 5,000 foot mountain range. They actually have to take off towards the mountain carrier style. The pilot holds the brakes, applies max power, waits until the engines are at about 90% power and makes a run at it. The minute you are airborne they have to do a wicked turn almost to the side to avoid the mountains. Speaking from personal experience you do NOT want to be hung over when you take off from there. The landing is a piece of cake if you compare the two.
Thank Scribe for the compliment. It's good to be here.
Ares, it is scary to most normal people, So of course I actually thought it was kind of fun. But the hangover from drinking Red Stripe until 4:00 a.m the morning before didin't help any. Actually when I was there you could walk right down to the beach and have the planes fly right over while you lay on the beach, they had warning signs up and all but that didn't stop me. Of course not realizing what would happen I stood there after talking my wife into going down there. We waited as a 757 approached I thought it was very cool to watch his appraoch, that was of course until the jet wash hit us and coated both of us with a combo of sand, seawater and the drinks we were holding. My wife said nothing, she didn't have to, she only gave me that look that says I can't believe I let you talk me into this you moron. Oh well, live and lean. Next time I think I'll stick to the clothing optional beaches. (Mine stay on of course as I'm sure the whole island would thank me collectively)
all i know, luv, is that i've been spending a lot of time in the cockpit of a 747 in the latest version of ms flight sim. i've actually learned quite a bit from it. specifically:
1) runway 4/22 at msp is barely long enough to land one of those things on
2) if you come in with sufficient airspeed and decent rate, you can actually touch down and bounce over the top of the md80 you were supposed to follow in!
I couldn't believe that they could even get those things in there. The airport is essentialy an open roof tin ploe barn. It didn't look real modern so I wonder if they even had I.L.S to do the approach with ? I think that's why they have to do such a low approach due to the short runway. I wonder if your sim would let you land there ? That would be cool, let me know if they do.
Thanks Muskwa and Scribe, I'm blushing, I don't know how to act since no one has ever accused me of having a "normal brain" ;) LOL Thanks, it's great to see you both.
The airport is right on the Island of St.Martin/ St.Marteen spelling depends on which side of the island you are on. Half the island is ruled by the Dutch and half by the French. (they actually have a border right down the middle of the island. It's loacted in the Dutch West Indies. The airport is on the Dutch side where we stayed. Let me know if you find it and are able to attempt a landing. I can see the local sitting on the beach------ Oh craap maan here come da' Ares man tryin to land big plane whhooo man.
Side note the Dutch side is nicer and plus you don't have to put up with French people :) We did go over there but I was glad I stayed on the Dutch side.
The Hague -- Slobodan Milosevic told his war crimes trial on Friday "genocidal" U.S. forces had been the unwitting ally of Osama bin Laden in Kosovo, and demanded Bill Clinton and other Western leaders come to testify.
Bin Laden's al Qaeda was "one of the fundamentalist groups which sent a unit to fight in Kosovo" alongside Muslim Kosovo Albanians aided by the United States against Serb forces in 1998-9, the fallen Yugoslav leader told The Hague tribunal.
"The attacks on New York and Washington show what the terrorism you sponsored looks like when it turns against you," he said in a speech that ranged across centuries of history and much of the globe, and exhausted court interpreters.
Milosevic, 60, was extradited from Belgrade seven months ago to a jail cell in The Hague. On Tuesday his trial began for crimes against humanity in Kosovo in 1999 and in Croatia in 1991-2, and for genocide in the 1992-5 Bosnian war.
Prosecutors have this week portrayed him as prime mover in a decade of massacres, torture, mass rape and expulsions by Serbs.
In a second day of reply to prosecutors' opening addresses, he blamed the carnage entirely on his Balkan enemies and NATO. Echoing the language of his indictment, he said the West itself had committed "genocide and crimes against humanity."
"I'm asking what kind of tribunal this is, if you refuse to try people for these crimes by the leaders and armies of NATO countries," a coolly pugnacious Milosevic told judges...

Back in 1933, the Bulgarian leftist, Georgi Dimitrov, was tried for having started the Reichstag fire, which was actually the work of Nazi provocateurs.
Dimitrov totally turned the proceedings around against his accusers, and won an absolute acquital.
Milosevic is using the Hague tribunal in a similar, very effective manner (though it's unlikely he'll be found innocent).
He's showing that it was a definite Western strategy, applied at times jointly and at other times with various imperialisms competing against each other, to destroy Yugosalvia as a unified entity...and that the ensuing carnage must fundamentally be attributed to that interventionist scheme.
His trial shows why Bush is so intent on trying "terrorists" through secret military means.
There's just too much negative truth that would get out about how Washington's cozied up in the past with those it has vested reason to villify today.

Glad I found it to THX, Great board. Kudos to you !
Scribe says hi and added something about "Someone with a normal brain". Whatever that means.
Cool pics Ian! My five year old said "They could land on people" when he saw it.
LOL!

MILOSEVIC: U.S. WAS ALLY OF AL QAEDA IN KOSOVO

That you can't conceive of him articulating ANY truth speaks volumes about your own brainwashing, Muskwa.
