Discuss the 2005 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt here.
Big G
We don't need "faces" of the crew. The crew is the crew. This press thing stinks. If we get press, cool, if we don't, the press sucks and too bad for them that they're missing out on a cool thing. We can be in the parade and do good things without having "press". I understand what's being said about the whole group thing, like the vulcs have different vulcs every year, and a new king boreas and such, and you just want to include everyone but I think we're beyond that since there's like a ton of us. We can't have "faces" now, it seems unfair. Again, the crew is the crew is the crew.
terry, like I said it wouldn't be for everyone. you want to turn the medallion in and get your 10k? no one blames you. but I do know that some very dedicated hunters don't care about the money and would do it for free and the notoriaty of being a finder and they might like this plan. we have grown so much that having a fund for helping to subsidize the cost of all the stuff we are thinking about doing. the cooler crew is changing, and I think it is for the better. I do agree that we need to keep our roots but nothing I have seen proposed doesn't do that.
You rule Terry, that was my point exactly. You and some other great folks made up a great group and trying to make it something "press worthy" isn't what it's about. It's about people who like to dig (and wear tiaras occassionally) and noodle clues. It's about making excellent friends.
I'm glad we're all coming together more and I hope things work themselves out. I'm all for moving forward with a great thing, but not if it gets big and huge and commercialized. I work for a corporation as do a lot of you, I'm sure. It stinks. I don't want this to become that. I just want a neat logo on a shirt. :) And my tiara. And my coffee. And breakfast.
According to the criminal complaint, the women bartenders agreed to allow the Vulcans to run the garters up their legs. But instead of performing the ritual in public, the Vulcans circled each woman and held their capes up while Thomas Clifford Trudeau, 54, touched the women's breasts, buttocks and crotches
Â
I hate to say this....but It doesn't surprise me!!!!! I have seen this happen!!!!
I've told many of the cooler chicks about it!!! Look I'd keep my big mouth shut if I thought I'd be able to talk my wife into lettin' me be a vulc...which I was very close to doing until THEY screw'd it up....
I just got back from there....thinkin' I'd be able to stop in just for 1 beer!!!
oops...4 beeers later ...I only paid for 1.....
well...they LOVE us...
According to them....they don't get that much traffic from the Wild or any Xcel events...their main crowd is the theaters....but....
they said they love winter carnival and the 2 weeks.....they also told me that the KING..declared it as home...but they are pissed because he never show'd.....so.....
we have taken over the KING's HOUSE...they said we are more then welcome and they love us!!!! (this is staff talking ..not owners)
they look forward to us EVERY year!!!
(it just felt right to stop by after a night out doing the NSP hunt)
it's in BAD need of updating and redoing, and the show schedule is old. The new site'll be up by the end of the month (crossing fingers and knocking on wood)
Odd variety of topics going on in here tonight, made for an odd slog.
Anyways, nice to hear new ideas, and be reminded of older traditions, and the whole vulcan thing, seems like I've heard of similar things in the past.
Felt good to be out hunting again tonight, even if it's a small city hunt, getting out and wandering around a park looking for something, that's the big thing for me. Costumes, carnivals, vulcans, logos, buttons, handouts, all have their places I suppose, but weren't originally what interested me in the hunt.
Getting out, looking for something, deciphering weird and obscure clues, hitting some right, and some wrong, going out to a park, uncertain if it's even the right one, pushing some snow around, anticipating the big find, shoot, even hearing the treasure's been found and sulking about it for a few days afterwards. That's the hunt for me. Of course actually finding something someday would be truely one of the greater experiences, but all in all, it's in fun, and I wouldn't be out there so much if I didn't think it was.
I like all the entheusizm around here lately. This place and all of these great people have that effect on oneself. I applaud all of your individual effort and creativity. But please don't expect to have the same views and interpretations of what the crew was and is as others do. I've seen the group grow for years. I really can't say if one idea was better than the other as far as how it's gotten us to where we are today.
RHB, PDG, buttons, noodling outside the cooler, personalities, scarfs, hats, door prizes, mock hunts, window clings, pictures, dedicated web sites, books, relationships, press, movies etc!!!
It's all good! You choose to take in what you want.Â
This community helps serve as a positive impact on our individual lives. I feel that those who have ideas to push it in any certain direction should have their day in court.  Hear them out. If an idea works, great! If it doesn't, it'll stifle itself soon enough. But I don't think shutting anyone down because they have some wild ideas is productive.Â
Just like all noodles aren't always right on target, goes the same with many of the ideas shared here. Brainstorming rocks. It's amazing what can come from it. The excitement will calm down over the next month. It always does. But I'd hate to loose any ideas because someone didn't feel comfortable enough to share them.
And on that note - I have nothing more to add other than the fact that I will always be the one who holds on to that medallion if I find it. I will not turn it in unless I'm hunting with someone. Most of you know this about me. I will have that thing hidden in my basement for my grand kids to see years from now if I find it by myself. I've put in way too many years to change any of that. But I also applaud those who would donate it as well.Â
Thanks for listening to my beer blabber ;-) I wasn't directing any of this rant to anyone in particular. It's probably not even relevant to anything as my short term memory is fried. And you can tell by the time of this post of what I'm gonna say next....
I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!

At least we are all talking about it.
We are trying to make sure the crew as a whole is as we all want it to be in a positive way.
BTW I feel the thongs are outside our roots.

sorry, poor choice of words...I meant the unattached.
you guys take things to literal.
Â
Agreed OTiS.
Hahaha the thongs were meant to be a joke....
you guys take things to literal.
You gotta lighten up. You take things to seriously.
OTiS- thank you for my new permanent tagline
Anytime!
well what ever we decide to come up with... I'm pretty confident that it'll be awesome :)
And a closing thought...
I work for a large 501 C 3 foundation. I have helped organize and establish another 501 C 3. It's work....lots and lots and lots of work.
Our little landowners association up north is a non-profit organization without the 501 C 3 Again it's lots of work.
I hunt for the enjoyment and the fun of it.Â
Â
Outta
yeah that non-profit thing was way out there, probably would never work. just brainstorming.

I like the stuff you do G.
Enough said.
the only reason why I might not finish it by the end of the month is because I spend too much time on here!!!!!!!!!!
goodnight!
Great Waters rocks
Are we doing the PDG there next year?
As for the Vulcans... What sucks even more....
Crew 69.... they are going to be the ones who pay for this the most.
GW...said they will give us ...some type of bennies for banquets....
so PDG is a must!!!!!!!
hell...more room and if you ask me!!!
Well if it is our home... it only makes sense.
Can then make us a label Kitch?
[Edited by on Feb 7, 2005 at 10:17pm.]
Hmmm.....maybe a coolercrew beer!!!
oh shit....I can feel my wallet get smaller on that request...
Damn... if theres gonna be a switcheroo from McGoverns to GW, im glad I went to McGoverns, for once...
Someone as said something about that during the hunt so DON'T BLAME MEfor trying to make the switch, I'm just asking.
Seems though if it's going to be the new home that we would want to have the PDG there.
[Edited by on Feb 7, 2005 at 10:25pm.]
Nah... no ones blamin, you man... its all good.... i see yer point, and it does make sense.
I haven't been to the GW, but I thought someone said during the hunt that the place isn't that big.Â
Remember, we were pretty packed into the basement at McGovern's so space is an issue.
I was supposed to be undercovers long ago. I'm heading out now...turning this contraption off and going to dream sweet dreams of medallion hunting.
Goodnight and SCDs!!
Night Terry!

Interesting he didn't mention it was he that instigated it by sending unwanted e-grams out to people.

gotta love the button's on the bottom of the shots....
Some like to play the role of villain and others the role of victim.Â
Interesting they both are part of that group.
