my children don't do fund raisers (havnt in 2 years).

when they did fund raise for school it was only once a year, I didn't allow them to sell the stupid stuff, If I wouldn't buy it then I didn't expect my friends to either. I always feel that most of my friends don't have extra cash for over priced items in school fund raisers and my friends don't see how they have really helped a project or cause.

I don't see much progress in the research for deathly causes and always wondered when I did donate to say, March of Dimes or the Fire Dept, where the money really goes at times-paperwork, eh?

I am calling on all of my friends and family on this one.

I do understand the options and I have given them to Whitney so for anyone that wants to tell us what we should be doing with her Hamster can please keep it to them self.

Whitney chose this option and I am proud of her for caring soooo much for a life. Her unconditional actions will make her a better child, a wonderful learning experience in fund raising for something you feel so deeply about through unconditional actions.

On this website you will be able to follow Marys progress. Whitney will keep a daily log and photos for everyone. You will see how you helped a child understand how to help others who cannot help themselves.

Whitney loves animals and has planned on working with animals in her future, weather it be a veterinarian or working at a zoo.

Stay tuned for the website where you can donate and follow Whitney and Mary on their journey.

Thank you in advance for your compassion and donations :)

"Help a broke ass fool pay for stuff" fund...

no really-now adays with the internet it is absolutely amazing what people do out there.
college girls who racked up their credit cards and need people to donate to help take care of them and help them pay off their debts.

If anyone has seen one of these sites can you post it here so we can see it?

I saw it talked about on news and talk shows before, way back when.

Hi Dawg- sorry to keep you alone today.

Whitney and I went to Target and got Mary some hamster food (and a cover for the grill, Fathers Day is quickly approaching). Whitney posted a little bit ago. It takes her a looooooong time to type what she wants to say. Mary seams to have her ups and downs. I just worry that she will begin having more downs thans ups. I am very worried about tomorrow. Mary may not survive the surgery. :(::::::::  -If she does she has a great chance at a couple more years.

Me2- I just read the entry on Mary's site. I'm so happy to hear that she made it through the surgery and that they were able to remove most of the cancer. I'll keep my fingers crossed and say a prayer for her that she makes it through the recovery. Keep us posted.

Thank You - It was considered a huge serious surgery. Many pets have it done. It is very trying on the family BUT if your pet is a family member than you have to try everything you can for them. Please see todays entry:

Unfortunate news me2.  Alibabas and I are very sad for you and Whitney.  Life lessons suck sometimes.  I think I was more sad than my kid  just watching her cry about loosing her fish recently.  Hang in there J.  :-(

Really sorry to hear what happened. God must have had other plans for Mary. Hang in there Whitney.

I have found myself taking this harder than anyone. I am not sure how to explain how good something can make someone feel. I actually met someone (Mary) who made me want to try to act nicer and less angry in life. She was such a joy to talk too and feed.  I can't say that for many humans and I am just devastated! I have had nightmares all weekend.

Whitney wants to keep all of Marys stuff for now. She is having a tough time letting her material items go as I can't handle seeing them around. I had to put her food in a bag on the front porch. I can't even bring myself to listen to the 2 messages from the doctor that were left Friday night and Saturday morning. I have been putting off posting Marys last photos.

Mark may bring Mary home today. not sure. I already have had trouble breathing from the anxiety.

Me2 - I know how you feel about Mary's passing. I took it really hard when my cat that I grew up with passed away a couple years ago. I just had to take it one day at a time and only with time did things get better.

Here's a big ol' cyber hug for ya!

:( Hang in there me2, I know it doesn't seem like it right now, but it will get easier, it took me at least a month to get over putting my last dog to sleep, I still think about her all the time, I have her daughter so that makes it hard sometimes. pretty soon you will be able to look at her pictures and smile at all the memories.

Ahh I've been waitin for that hunt KC!!! I hope it is better than the SSP. I woke up so early for that hunt so I could get the clue when the pharmacy opened only to find out they didn't feel like posting that it had been found on their site.

You are going to hunt for it.. right?? :)  This one does seem better organized. Again, I thought that with the Trib hunt. I didn't even bother with the second Trib hunt, the first one was so pathetic. This one is 12 CLUES tho!!!!!!

Well, I guess I am desperate. Any hunt couldn't let me down after this break!!!

I was waiting for that SSP hunt too. I e-mailed them about where the clues are posted.  IT WAS ALREADY FOUND!  No way. One clue!?!  Bullshit!  I know a counsel member and will definitely need to bring up the scam to her.  You'd think the sponsors would like a bit more of a hunt for their money.  Sad.  ;-(

Oakdale should help the urge a bit tho.

I got a turtle for x-mas back in the day.... it was an "eastern" box turtle, and I named him Leonardo (after the ninja turtle).... he died 2 summers ago... actually no... it wasnt summer yet... there was still some snow on the ground....

anyhow.... I grew up thinking/hearing that "turtles live a really long time, they can outlive humans"  well... when he died... I was curious as to why... i know its stupid.. but I actually loved that damn thing.... I had him for close to 12 years.... so I did some checking around and actually found avet that was experienced in turtlenomics, so I talked to the dude.... when he found out that I had the Leo for 12 years, he had to ask me twice more to repeat myself, and sounded very surprised.... he said that normally when people buy box turtles from a store or something they dont normally live more than like 6-7 years...... so one of the reasons he died was old age... another one, the guy told me, was that the species of turtle I had, was common to get some rare form of cancer...... he was pretty positive that mine might have had that...

funny thing was.... when I first got him, all I fed him was lettuce... and pieces of turkey... like small pieces of snadwich meat... you know... if I had a sandwich, i'd give him some...  turtles are only supposed to have one meal a day... half the size of their head... because they dont know when to stop eating, and can over-eat and die...

anywho.... after a while... he stopped eating the lettuce and turkey... so one day, me and my mom are sitting there, eating chilli, and taco chips w/ salsa... and joking about whether or not he'd eat it, like the ninja turtles did... so... since he hadnt eaten at all that day, I gave him a spoon-full of salsa (dont worry it wasnt real super hot)

Now normally, he would sit there,  and not give a rats ass about the lettuce or turkey, but almost as soon, as he saw the spoon, he darted accross the aquarium and ran to his little food dish thing, and gulped it all up...

from then on... he wouldnt even LOOK at food unless it was spicy.... the spicier the better.... and he loved pizza, believe it or not....

When the vet guy asked me "what did you feed him? im curious as to why he would live longer than most that Ive heard of"  I told the guy about all that.... he just kinda sat there... and then he said "your kidding right?" and I had to convince him that I was serious, and he said "maybe thats why he lived so long.... its pretty strange"

But yeah...

I still feel bad, because I never actually got to bury Leo under our lilac bushes, like I wanted to..... since he died when there was still snow on the ground, it was too hard to dig into.... i tried to save him, to do it in the summer, but when I was gone out of town for a weekend, my dad
mistakenly
(yeah, right... i still dont believe that), threw him out WITH THE GARBAGE!...

Anyhow...

Sorry bout the long post... just thought I'd share.

Damn... weird.... Shaggy's brother just brought us to where him and his homies play basketball and hang out all the time... its  park up in Oakdale, called Tanners Lake Park.... when we cruised through it, I was thinkin "damn... this would make a cool lil park for a medallion hunt, if it were in St. Paul"

Tue, 06/22/2004 - 1:36 AM Permalink
regman

I think Tanners would be a good place for it. I will for sure be looking at that park when the more informative clues come out (1st clue was a rule and sponsor plug clue).

I think that the Kaposia Days hunt started yesterday, June 21, but I can't find any clues or info on it.  The clues are supposed to be posted at www.kaposiadays.com, but I can't find them.

CM, do you know Jane on the council?  She's a friend of mine also.

Oakdale Park was the site in year one.
Tanners Lake was next to continue the fun.
Eberle Park for year number three,
Remember they found it near the base of a tree?
Richard Walton was last.  The sleuth's figured it out.
One year north, the next year south.

OTERRO Park ?

ORRETO Park?

North South North South...now a North park again? or smack dab middle?

and look again near the base of a tree OR the park has 'tree' in the word...or like OAKwood park or ELMer Park??

I have not looked at a map so I have no clue as to how these ideas fit anything-but anything to help any of you out.

I'm liking the idea of a north park for the oakdale hunt.

Anyone know if Silver lake park (they might call it Joy park) is part of maplewood or oakdale?

I haven't heard of anyone who has Reg. In fact I never really knew about the hunts before this year, and only learned of this year's by happenstance.

If you check out the city of oakdale's site, look in the parks and rec area, they have maps and facilities info for all the parks. I'm gonna check Northdale out this evening, if only to see what's there (never been there).

Cool KC.... I may be able to go too!!!!

Maybe I could find a ride out there. My parents are usually pretty good about rides if I mention it's for a hunt :) Go on MSN if you want... but don't wait up for me.

Eh, I'm headin there from work. Picking up 4 geocaches along the way, so I may not be there till a little later.. say 7:45? Forgot I have to work a bit later than usual today.

Good luck if you get out there ahead of me though.

Whew! Thanks Reg for clarifying that the SSP wasn't found.  Yeah, last years SSP hunt ended bad.  I kept hunting strong for another 2 whole days after it was found!  And in the exact same park was searching in too!  I still haven't heard anything back from my e-mail to them either.  Nice organization huh? Sheesh!  It reminds me of the Mpls hunt. Lame-O

OT - I know Laurie.  My wife works with her.  She's also the chair-person of the Grand Excursion event too.
