Anyone hear back from O'Gara's yet? They've got a Journey cover band in the Garage and a small group in the Shamrock Room on Sat Night. Both places have lots of room for a big group.

We do our gillette reununion partys at Mounds Tavern. They always have a band. We just take over the place and don't reserve nothing. Never have to. Cheap drinks, free parking....but it's a dive. Kinda fun though..

Obbs=best choice

Obbs is closer to home for me anyhow....

plus... I'll probably have to pee after the bar closes anyways, so I can just cross the street and do it in the woods, where it'll feel more natural this time of year...

I am in for Obbs I do have to Say Good Food CHEAP DRINKS!!! only thing with that is hard to get to Mickeys after words!! But Hay theres all WAYS Mounds right acrossed the street to drink tell the sun comes UP!!!!! LOL

And I bet if we play our cards just right we could get a pizza dliverd to the PARK!!! lol

one thing I dont know is if We can fight in to Obbs or for that mater if they stay open tell 2????

I was thinking the same thing and the Lobster did close on us too, I know the R Lobster jumped their lease so maybe MattyB's was in a lease that came due now and thats why they arnt open til Feb 1.

a few of us have been brainstorming and I know Cluey has called around too. I like obbs but I also like the new Bulldog downtown.

I agree with Obbs...

Unless you would like to go to Shenanigans in Rosemount. They can hold like 20 people extra, if 10 of them are regulars, and I can get sloppy drunk and walk home.

Hi everyone! Unfortunately, I won't be at the predig - I'll be in Vegas for work (I know, it sucks to be me...) but I will miss you all at the party, wherever it is. I was at Gabes earlier, know the owners, they are booked all weekend. Just FYI.

Honestly, I really would prefer to stay downtown because that's where the carnival takes place. But, I like the folks at Obbs and we've been treated well there in the past. Give the last minute nature of all of this, I can see why it makes sense. However, my vote would be for Wild Times or the Bulldog (very, very, very good Belgian beer selection).

During the rest of the hunt (pre-clue nights), I still think we need to be downtown. But, I never want to give my money to Great Waters again.

If Obbs isn't open until 2 that's a deal breaker. Talk about the lamest PDG ever...

Bulldog - is absolutely packed on Saturday nights. No way we're gonna get 100 people in there.

O'Gara's - Bands in every room on the weekends. I can go there any weekend and have the same experience i'd have this weekend.

Great Waters - They'd promise us the banquet room, but if something better came along they'd call us and tell us sorry.

Obb's - They want us there. They aren't in any danger of going out of business. The guy would actually show some loyalty towards us.

Wild Tymes- Bigger than Obbs, open until 2, downtown.

Obbs- Jake likes Obbs :wink:

It sounds pretty settled on Obbs, but there is a bar at the corner of West 7th and Davern that has a downstairs room. ( Or they used to)

Back when I worked at Univac, Unisys, we used to go there all the time.

It is just a straight shot down 7th to the paper.

Starting Gate

Did the Starting Gate ever fix up that downstairs room when the new owners took over? I know they were going to but I've never gotten back there since. It's a decent place, but at this point probably only a backup option.

As for the nightly gig I would vote for something downtown as well. The idea is that you get downtown early, find a good parking spot, hang out for a while, walk to the paper to get the clue, and then run off to your good parking spot to get to where you think you're going. I like Wild Thymes well enough. I've never been to the Bulldog. There's a bar in the Crowne Plaza which would be convenient, but I doubt they want us there.

I have a question about Obbs:

Is there a bar in the basement that will be staffed? Or, do we have to go upstairs to get our drinks? Because if we have to keep going upstairs, the group will be separated.

Also, is there a breakfast spot near Obbs? At least Wild Tymes is walking distance to Mickeys. :smile:

Yes, downtown is ideal. I was trying to think of easy access

to PP. I have never been to Obbs, and by the sounds of it the access

I'm planning on checking out Top Hat (Hat Trick) and Bulldog a couple nights- like both and both are downtown. Wild Tymes is fine too where the crowd will probably go but I really want to go to Bulldog. Good food and inexpensive.

I fell asleep thinking of Mancinnis and Digideos too for pre-dig.

Obbs is first choice for this girl.
