I just read through this whole thread trying to catch up.

I re-read this entire thread and here are my thoughts for what it's worth.

I like the idea of fewer threads. Most anything of a general chat sort of thing could be in a shoot the breeze thread. News is news and shouldn't need one for every piece of news...or if one is created for a specific topic, when that news dies down, that thread could be archived or taken down.

One thing that happened on the PF board is that there got to be chat about any number of things all over the place. All the cooler chick threads I found to be impossible to follow after awhile.

I do think a folder for the hunt put up nearer the hunt instead of a new one for the next year going up at the end of a hunt would cut another place for the general chat stuff that goes on.

Obviously, there would need to be threads for various hunts and perhaps special events. Again, however, when they were done, those could be archived and eventually taken down. Doing so would help keep things neat, tidy and less cluttered.

From everything I've read around here since Mark and Tim put this up would make one think they are more than happy to work with us so this could be set up the way we would want it.

Another thought is that we would only have the one thread for a hunt and if anyone misbehaved, they would lose out instead of the rest of us going into hiding as it were with private threads. If the offender wanted to pay another fee, they would obviously have access again under a new login. Unless they were wealthy, they would not likely offend many times before they wised up and flew right.

IMHO..all the coolerchick threads kinda turned into peoples personal folders.....which I don't mind anybody having if they pay for them...

I agree with the comment about the cooler chick threads being more like personal pages. If those are part of Ian's geocaching threads, they should be part of another forum with a link from here IMO. I would suspect that if Ian had his geocaching threads under a different forum, he might attract others that are interested.

As far as giving access to anyone else to this thread, I understand this to be for hosts - and I think there are enough. And if there were to be any added...and I don't think there should be...I don't think it should be another person of the male gender. :wink:

well, i nominate one of each to the panel of hosts. esd and me2.

I have nothing against ESD or me2, but I truly think five hosts are enough and a great plenty.

I would like to think we could have some folks we could ask if one of us felt they could no longer serve as hosts so that the number of hosts wouldn't diminish over time.

I think five hosts could be fine. You don't want to get too much in there. You have to set a limit on it. Otherwise it gets out of hand.

I would be willing to try and deal with problems, like where there's a mediator needed or things like that. I've dealt with things like that and have had some experience in mediation or conflict resolution. If worse comes to worse, I'll just contract out ESD in his suit.

IMHO good position for TMK...(cept for one issue that could come up)...since you don't post that much.

My opinion is, that's enough.

It's nothing against anyone else, there's tons of people around that I would say "qualify" for the job" whatever that means.

Quite simply, I chose people that are around a lot and that I trust.

For the record, mediation is NOT one of my stregths.
