you can start out with just one disc...maybe the driver 3.
but..
I would suggest 3 disc's
A fairway driver
A midrange disc.
and A putter.
Choosing the right disc
There's a very large selection of discs on the market and I know it can be overwhelming for newer players to try and find a disc that they will have success with. Beginners should generally start with lighter discs that will fly straight and have good glide. Choosing too heavy a disc or more overstable discs will probably be difficult to control and can lead to frustrating rounds. When I started playing disc golf I used a wildcat and a crush that are made by Discraft. They both are very stable discs and very predictable in flight. I found that the 166g to 169g was perfect for both distance and stability as I progressed to refining my throwing technique. As for a midrange I would recommend a Buzz also made by Discraft. This is by far one of the most stable mid-range discs on the market. If you prefer looking at another brand you can try an Orc or Beast for Innova drivers and a Roc for an Innova mid-range.
for a putter...I would suggest finding the softest disc you can find...(bend it in the store)....it will not bounce off the basket as far if you miss.
I already hike every weekend with the dogs, and walk the golf course.
I need the treadmill so I can run like a hamster at night. I've agreed to do a 5k marathon next year with a friend - and I need a lot - ALOT of practice between now and then.
It doesn't really appeal to me either, but it's for a fundraiser and well, I'm dumb enough to try anything once. Besides, if it doesn't kill me - it will make me stronger. (and hopefully lighter)
my favorite discs right now are the Velocity & Talon -the Velocity is semi-floppy and has finger grips, drives pretty straight forward - it can actually be an 'overall' disc, good for long distance to putting.... where as my Talon I get a doglegleft.
what would be funny is to see the cooler crew stage a hash - I bet the clues to where the beer would be, could be considerably harder.
of course there would be the CC at the end all passed out by the keg waiting for the hashers to find them.
those nuts even run in the dead of winter. I'm shocked with all the time ya'll spend in parks you haven't seen a hord of runners screaming at one another.
I just found out the closest course to me is well over an hour away!
BUT - with in 15 minutes of my boyfriends there are 4 courses. Looks like something we will be taking up doing in the Sacramento region.
There are like 5 different proposed courses for the Sonoma County Area right now - I doubt any of them will actually make it. The $ hungry coucils here would rather see things like luxury spas.
I go once every year in winter. Usually during the carnival. But it was usually at Highland where there wasn't the big holes where you could lose the things. I feel like going out to Hyland and playing that course and see how many skiers I can nail.
ask kitch- he can help :pbpt:

Running doesn't appeal to me.
for being a 'girl' I like 164-167 weight
I will keep those things mind.
The PP did an article about them I think 2 years ago - it's a group that runs though parks (based on clues) in search of beer.
It's like the hare and the hound.
the minneapolis hashing group
I may just show up on Sat-its only in Shoreview-that is awesome!
especially if you like to be outside and drinking.
personally - it doesn't get much better than that.
....oh...nevermind.....it involves running...

That sounds sweet, I'm gonna look into it for next summer.
Then I tried throwing a frisbee through the woods with a 90 degree turn and not have it fall down a cliff.
L4V is thinking on taking it up - Cooler as well.
I'm lovin' it.
